It’s what I Do!

Interesting…

Posted by: velveteen In: Thoughts

I just read on someone else’s blog and a couple of comments about NOT liking to read what people eat…

I find it quite interesting really, because, I want to KNOW what people eat, especially the ones who are actually losing weight. I personally find it important. And I find it being accountable. I certainly can’t yell and cry and scream “I just don’t understand!” if you look at my journal and see I’ve eaten cookies and chocolates and pizza all week… can I?

Also, being a true foodie, I want to know the YUMMY things people are eating that fit within a certain points range. I look for value for points in food. If I can eat a 4 point breakfast that borders on gourmet AND fills me up, I want to know! Don’t you?

Or do you find it boring to read what other people eat? Do you find it “makes” you hungry? (I say that in ” ” because I don’t believe reading about food can give you physical hunger).Does it make you feel guilty if perhaps you are not making the best choices for YOU? Do you feel like you wish the food thing could just go away and you could just lose weight WITHOUT focusing on what you put in (I sometimes wish this)?

I’m just curious. It’s my nature to be curious. Of course I am not going to stop tracking if people don’t want to read about it, it’s my blog after all and I have to do what is best for me :)But, I just wonder how others feel about it. I can not go on the way I have been in the recent past because I feel I’m not being honest with myself if I don’t track. It’s easy to forget. It’s easy to place blame on something else as to why I am not losing weight. I don’t want to place blame. I just want to be accountable and 100% responsible for my choices.

Everyone has their own “thing” about how they go about doing this. That’s what I find most interesting :)If it’s healthy and you are not harming your body and you are not blaming others then… whatever works, right?

You are right this is your blog and you do it which ever way works for you, it isn’t a newspaper to be read and complained about. It is your life and how you handle it, if keeping track of what you eat is what works for you then you NEED to do it, it is keeping it real and honest.
I don’t keep track of my food intake on my blog but right now I don’t feel like I need to, I am not on a point system or calorie counting. I base mine on good food choices and sticking to my exercise routine and that works for me, so no one has a right to complain that I am doing it wrong, it is what works for me.
Your blog is to keep track of your living habits and what effects your mind, body and soul. What works for is the RIGHT way, whatever the way that is for you.
You are doing great hun, keep it up, I love reading your blog.

I feel the same way as you. :) I need to keep myself accountable, and I also love seeing what other people eat, so I can get ideas for future meals.

Lisa, thanks hon. It’s nice that you commented even though you DON’T track per se, but you ARE in fact in tune with what you are choosing, correct? That’s what works for you and that’s good :)

Sam - actually I was thinking about you when I mentioned that I liked seeing what people eat! You always have such yummy stuff on your menu!!

I appreciate you girls being here, I honestly do and it truly helps me keep perspective on things! THANK YOU!!

Well heck I like your curiosity! And if I weren’t so wordy in my 1st 2 posts, I’d have listed some of my food choices already, such as they are…. And yea, I want to know what other people have found to be nutrient-dense & knock-out nummy, too.

Your so sweet, don’t listen to complainers! I don’t feel that way at all, it keeps me accountable when I write what I eat and what I am feeling. You are right! They are wrong! keep it up
PS I wrote you two emails to your regular email account. Just thought I would tell you in case they go to the spam file.
Happy Saturday, Elizabeth

Actually scientists have demonstrated that reading (even thinking) about food CAN make you hungry. It turns out that the brain triggers chemicals when it contemplates food. These chemicals (they have a name, I’ve forgotten it) signal our hunger center to activate it.

That said, I still do like to learn what folks are eating.

BTW
Stephanie Plum makes me hungry. She’s always eating.

midikiki - thanks for liking my curiousity! LOL I’m glad no one was offended by my post. I am just curious by nature…

elizabeth - got your emails! Yay!! And, I just know for ME, I have to write it down. I’m just sad that maybe I will miss out on other friends because I DO write that stuff down but they are not interested in reading it… then again… I have plenty of friends here already supporting me… nothing to complain about really!!!

auntiemamenj - LOL actually I think I read about this recently in “YOU: On a Diet”, but I’m not sure to be honest… I believe you are correct :) I just don’t believe it for myself… I think for me it would be an excuse, but that’s just me!

Oh and I’ve heard loads about Stephanie Plum… maybe I should read those books as well and I’ll let you know if I get hungry ;) (my best friend was just telling me about SP books the other day!!)
