Clothes

Posted by: velveteen In: clothes

So, I haven’t really bought anything for a long time, maybe only a few basic things so I don’t look like a frump or a stuffed sausage while I’m at work (I don’t care what I wear at home and I rarely go out so…).   I just didn’t want to spend money (that I don’t even really have) on clothes that I don’t really want to be wearing for very long anyway (size-wize).

Lately though - and maybe it’s just the weather - I’ve been thinking… why shouldn’t I dress the way that expresses who I am, even if those clothes are bigger than I prefer?

So I went to eBay :)

And it’s been quite a while since I was really able to buy any clothes at all, fun clothes that is, but now that my finances are starting to come together due to having a new job that actually PAYS me what I’m worth I decided to just have a look.

There’s an event coming up here in Holland called D-Day ~ it’s a Rockabilly festival (just one day) with free music, great atmosphere, nice people.  I want to go and I want to be “dressed”, not just go in my jeans and t-shirt like I did last year.  Just because I’m overweight doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t be dressed right?

This item I won:

These items I’m bidding on:

Just because I’m overweight, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t still be cute ;)

Wow those are beautiful clothes and you will look very pretty in them. Its good to find things that make you feel pretty, we don’t have to wait til we reach our goals for that. Feeling beautiful is about how you feel inside, not what weight you are at. Good for you !!

The dress and top will both accent your waist and be very flattering I think. Both are great choices!

I used to dress frumpy…in clothes that were too big for me. I didn’t feel sexy at all. My sister who is younger than I and very slender took me shopping one day and told me she was embarrassed to go out with me because I dressed like our mother. Ouch!! So I bought some shirts 2 sizes smaller than what I normally wore and get this. I went to work in one of them and my coworker says to me…”either you’ve lost weight or your boobs have grown”. I was hooked! No more frumpy clothes for me. Good luck in your clothes shopping and I hope you receive great comments from your friends as well!

I hope you’ll win it as well! It looks like a really pretty dress. :)

And you’re so right. If I were to listen to some people, I’d dress in sacks and formless T-shirts all the time in fear that others might guess I’m overweight. Sheesh.

Thanks girls!

I defintely don’t want to dress like my mother, that’s a no-go zone! I worry only about low-cut tops at work… I know it may seem strange but I am just a little more humble about my cleavage at work, plus I have a tattoo that would stick out. When I’m going out, of course this doesn’t bother me at all :)

I’m on the hunt for cute shoes now… my boyfriend’s going to think I’ve gone shopping mad!
