This is a big weekend for us in the Netherlands.

Not only did the Crown-Prince celebrate his 40th birthday yesterday (he’s due to be King, very soon), on Monday we celebrate Queen’s Day, the birthday of the Queen Mother, Juliana.  This is the day of the “open market” (you can pretty much sell ANYTHING on this day, and I mean anything!), but more calorically speaking, it’s a HUGE party all over the country.  That means food, drinking, partying, festivities, live music, friends, etc… think New Year’s Eve only in the Spring :)

The festivities start on the eve before, which is tomorrow.  Generally speaking, that means the eating, drinking and partying begins as soon as it’s humanly possible for people.  For us, that means…  we take the kids home to their mum’s at 4pm, we get on a train and we meet friends/colleagues for Pizza in Amsterdam.  Yep. Pizza.

Now, we live in Arnhem, so that’s a bit of a journey.  My idea is this:  We go and have pizza, we have some drinks (if I want to drink I will, but I definitely have a limit in mind:  a challenge for me) we have some fun and we come back home by train still that evening.  I have never once been out on Koninginnenach and made it home before 8am on Queen’s Day itself.  Yep, it’s THAT kind of party.

I spoke to my best friend yesterday and told her my plan.  She knows I struggle with setting limits for myself, so I made a deal with her… if I don’t call her before 11pm, she will call me to be the “voice of reason” and tell me to get on the train home.  This is really big for me.  I WANT to set limits. I want to complete this challenge.  I WILL complete this challenge.  It’s what I do!

Tracking:

B - espresso

Filet Americain sandwich, with a wee bit of Yofresh (yoghurt-mayo) and some ruccola (4)

L - Fruit Smoothie:
300ml Buttermilk (1½)
1 banana (1)
Strawberries
1 mandarin orange
1 tsp of cocoa ( )
1 tsp of wheat germ and 1 tsp of flaxseeds (1)
Cinammon and a chile pequin

S - 1 piece of chicken lunchmeat (20g?)
10 choco peanuts
5 green olives

D - burritoes with turkey and chickpeas (not to mention veggies as well)
instead of cheese and sour cream I used cottage cheese (100g) and salsa mixed and grated up some courgette.

 Later - 2 handfuls walnuts

4 glasses of wine…

I did eat my step-son’s other half of his 2nd burrito (used the gordito/soft taco tortillas for the kids)

Ah and there is an NSV here ~ I’ve tracked every day since I started this blog. Am very proud of myself for that!!!

Got the new scale: will officially weigh on Wednesdays.

HI, sounds like a great weekend and you got your plan in place, have fun. Thank you for your comment on my blog, it really does help to hear from others. Have a great weekend and workout, I loved the article, I can’t work anymore so I don’t have a specific time I exercise but I do the most of it within the first half hour after I wake up in the morning and then I add walking on the stepper off and on all day. I do feel better physically and only been doing it a little over a week. Talk to you later ….. Lisa
