Changes - A fat girl’s mind trip

Goals 1 & 2

I SOMETIMES have a perfectionist attitude and SOMETIMES try to keep things a little too structured. Well, it hasn’t helped me lose weight these past oh so many years so I decided to do it completely different this time. I am going to take babysteps and I am going to quit beating myself up when I am not perfectly doing what I think I should be doing.

Today is day 6 of my program.

The first 3 days, I focused on tracking and staying within my points only, not worrying too much about the quality of my food choices. By Monday, I felt ready to add exercise and some of WW healthy guidelines. So, for the rest of the week my goals are:

Count & track points
Drink water
Eat required fruits & vegs.
1/2 of grains as whole grains
Exercise

I have 5 little smiley face stickers on the calendar next to my computer and it feels really good to look over and see that I have actually met my goals for the past 5 days. Not an easy task for this fat girl!

Hi! You’re off to a good start. I’m a about ten years older than you are, but otherwise, it seems we have a similar history and a similar long-term, off-again/on-again relationship with WW. I always come back to it because it’s so flexible. And THIS time, I don’t mean that it lets you eat ice cream, but that whatever nutritional plan one is trying this time will fit. (I’ve had a few too many sinus and other infections this year and I’m trying to boost my immune system as well as Reform!)

Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Bloomer!

You are absolutely right about the ice cream. WW really can be super healthy or not so much depending on our choices. It is fully my intent to get to super healthy food choices most of the time, but I think my downfall is I would prepare down to the last little detail and when it came time to eat it, I would think ick and go for the crap instead b/c it was too hard. This time, baby steps. I know I will get there eventually and I already have a hugely different attitude. So far it feels really good and after 6 days, I am even starting to feel better physically!

That’s great that you’re finding an approach that is working for you. It’s so hard to kick that need to be perfect, kudos to you for taking the first steps :)
