Not too much to report. Still taking walks every day, and after 3 weeks it seems like I finally might have kickstarted some weight loss. This morning I weighed in at 226.1
Down 3 lbs finally
Day 16

Somebody please tell me it’s possible to gain 2lbs in muscle weight overnight… ::sigh:: back to where I started it for no apparent reason. As far as I know TOM isn’t due for a week or 2 and I’ve been taking walks every day woth a 12 pound baby strapped to my front, and usually 5 pounds of groceries on my arm on the way home… I don’t feel bloaty or bigger so really praying muscle weigh…
Another thing that’s been bugging me is these damn child bearing hips… It’s a bit ironic that they got so much bigger, since a) a child never passed through there and b) he was born 3 months early… I’ve noticed My tummy/waist shrink slightly, but not the hips. Nope not a bit.
Anyhow the munchkin seems to be enjoying this new-found taste of watery mashed rice, think I might try some watery smashed potato tonight too. Hey I’m making chicken stew tonight so why not add a little variety to the mashed rice. Who woulda thought I’d be enjoying this barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen/ Japanese housewife style life so much… go figure
Day 13

So, how’s this for irony? In my last blog I was saying how I needed to spend less time on the internet; Saturday morning I turn on the computer and….NO INTERNET. It was like being stuck in that episode of South Park where the internet disappeared. Waited till the evening but it still wasn’t back so I called the internet company. Sunday morning they came out and looked at the apartment building’s internet connection, they called me to inform the entire building’s connection is out, but they don’t know when they’ll be able to come fix it. Tuesday 11 a.m. they fixed it.
Anyhow the weekend was supposed to be pretty awesome but didn’t work out quite like we thought it would. Not to far from here there’s supposed to be a hiking trail that leads to the ruins of a castle on top of a mountain. So we thought cool lets go see that, we get to see something interesting and I’d get my walk in. It started out well enough but it quickly became clear that this wasn’t really a hiking trail but more like a really dangerous washed out goat trail that you need to be properly dressed and babyless for. So didn’t get to see the castle, but did get to see some of the moat that wound its way up the mountain which was pretty cool. Yesterday had to take the baby to the doctor for his 6/7 month check up and RSV shots. We walked, it’s only a half mile away and parking isn’t free. Got the go ahead from the doctor to start trying foods (mmm mushy rice)
Not too much walking done for those two days 2.86 km and 2.62 km (1.7 and 1.6 miles) But today aside from our usual walk around the park we took a walk to the vegetable stand and logged a whole 3.55km (2.2miles)
Weighing in today at 227 lbs
Day 9

Starting to feel like blogging my daily progress is helping to keep me on track here. Since before it was I try and give up and nobody knows but me and maybe my husband. But who knows how many people would know if I quit again this time. Right? Of course now my next task is to stop spending so much time on the computer, daily walks is a good start for sure, but I need to be away from it more…
Not too much new today. Weight was down to 227.9 this morning hoping I can drop it a bit more tomorrow. Both yesterday and today the munchkin and I got a 2.94km walk in (about 1.8 miles)
Day 7
Posted T-chan on October 1st, 2008 | Filed under Uncategorized | 2 Comments »
So yesterday, despite my hiding it, husband found my pedometer; and for the exact reason I hid it he started in on me about my weight. ‘Old ladies use these’ ‘It won’t make you lose weight’ ‘you only walked one mile? you need to walk at least 6 miles a day’ . Yeah because we all know that babies are cool with hanging out and going for a six mile walk every day. If I hadn’t been nursing the munchkin I would have punched him. He thinks he’s helping by trying to ‘push’ me, I’ve explained to him that it doesn’t help. That if anything its makes me more inclined to give up and eat a bunch of cake, or do something stupid and unhealthy to lose weight. Still don’t think he gets it though since he brewed coffee and got out the Costco pound cakes as a peace offering (>.<)
Anyhow yesterday went to the mall only managed 1.47km (.9miles)
Today hubby is back to work so me and the bebe got a good walk in 2.72km (1.69miles)
Back down to 228.6lbs too yay!
Day 5

I was down to 228.6 this morning but I have a feeling that won’t last till tomorrow. It’s been raining all day today so no family walk (T.T) We went shopping, unfortunately it was to Costco, my husband likes to eat lunch there when we go shopping cuz its cheap. Talk about diet ruiner… Then to top it off he had to get these muffin-like poundcake loaves, and he always wants to east them together. Which is fine for him he’s only like 125lbs… Took the pedometer with me anyways and logged a whole 1.27km
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Day 4

So today it’s really cold out, winter’s coming… sigh…
I woke up this morning, felt that fat that hangs over my belly button and makes it look like a tummy frown and, could just be my imagination but, it felt smaller. Hoping that’s the case anyways.
So anyhow, since its soooooo cold out today I decided I’d better wear different shoes than usual. I’ve been wearing fitflops for a couple months now, they don’t do a thing for working my muscles but I’ve always had flat feet and the fitflops are probably the comfiest shoes I’ve ever had (the only other comfy I’ve ever owned pair being crocs, ewww). So threw on some tennis shoes today, ironically I think my calves got more of a work out from those than I’ve ever felt in the fitflops.
Anyways packed the munchkin into the baby pack and headed for the park and today managed to log 2.62km (1.62 miles) total today.
The husband is off work for the next 2 days, wonder if I’ll be able to do much walking. He’s always badgering me about losing weight. Don’t want to tell him that I’m trying to lose though because if I fail he’ll be disappointed, point out everything I do wrong (in his opinion) and badger more. Love him to death but wish he could lay off, I just had a baby for godsakes.
Day 3

Well today a friend I hadn’t seen in a few months came over. We went to a recycle shop here and I got my son some cute pants, jeans from baby gap, for only 500yen (roughly $5) I’m all about buying expensive stuff super cheap. Was kind of worried we wouldn’t get our walk in, but we took a quick evening walk. So, in the end todays shopping and walk included I got 2.4km (1.49 miles) today. And down 1 lb to 229lbs. Starting slowly but surely
This time it’s gonna stick

It’s been sixth months since my son was born and frankly I haven’t lost a thing. Always had trouble with weight, mainly due to a love of junk food and a fear of exercise. I finally started trying to lose weight seriously and then… pregnant. For years I had managed to keep to about 215 lbs ish, my all time high (during highschool) was 235. So now here I am post baby at 230. My son was 3 months early and only 2 lbs at birth so needless to say there wasnt a lot of post partum weight to lose. So now after months feeling like crap looking at all the tiny Japanese mothers around here wondering how a baby even fit into their stomachs let alone pass through thier hips, and months of my husband being disappointed that I haven’t taken off even a little I’ve decided it’s time that I try to do something.
So yesterday on a whim I walked over to the closest electronics store and picked up a pedometer. Yep I walked. Actually I walk everywhere, I don’t have a Japanese drivers’ license and even if I did with gas at nearly the equivalent of $8 a gallon I’d be crazy to be driving everywhere. And since I walk everywhere the grocery is a 3 times a week trip. But the days I don’t go to the grocery I sit home with the baby and do nothing…
So anyhow back to the pedomiter. It’s about 1 km (.6 miles) to the grocery and back home again, so I’ve decided (weather and baby permitting of course) to strap the baby into the carrier and make a daily walk of a minimum 1 km. I started yesterday and (not counting the trip to the electronics shop) I managed to get in a 1.01km walk. Today we made it 1.96km.
Gonna do my best to make this one stick this time
