I stepped on the scale out of curiosity and seem to have gone from 168 to 165 so that’s three pounds lost. Score!
But my hip measurements seem to have gone from 44 1/4 to 45 inches! What?! That’s just not cool.
I suppose this means exercise should be in order, right? *sigh*
My husband Rob got an awesome deal on a jogging stroller on craigslist, though. Paid $40 for a jogging stroller and sheepskin-type insert. Come to find out it’s worth over $270!
Okay, so here’s a bit of background on me. Been married for 8 years to a wonderful man and I have one child, a son who is 8 months old. I was overweight before I got pregnant; weighed in at 168/169. Reached a pregnancy weight of 204 but lost 20 pounds within 4 weeks. I hung on to the last 10 pounds for a long time.
I paid attention to my weight since childhood. I was skinny until I hit 8 years old (seem to be a lot of 8’s here, huh?) and some pretty traumatic stuff happened. So then I gained weight and got chubby. It didn’t help that my second step-mom (I refer to her as a step-monster) kept my hair practically shorn off.
When I turned 16 I finally got out of my household and into foster care. For almost all of my teenage years I oscillated between a size 12 and 14. I would love to have been smaller like all the other girls in my school but nothing doing. I never dieted, though. I guess it never really occurred to me.
I got married in 2000 and we moved to California. We took a trip back to Oklahoma in 2003 and I had to buy some new jeans as mine were all old. I tried on 12’s, wouldn’t come up. 14’s wouldn’t zip or button. I started to panic and called for Rob to bring me another size. He handed me 16’s and they fit. I bought the pants but started to cry when I got in the car. I decided to lose weight.
I did slimfast for 6 weeks and lost 18 pounds but then my FIL turned me on to Atkins. I lost a total of around 60 pounds and got into a size 2-4. I was still eating less than 20 carbs per day but I put 50 pounds back on in two months. My doctor was confused, not sure how it happened. I haven’t been able to lose it since. I’ve tried South Beach, slimfast, just about everything; nothing has worked so far. Although now weight watchers does so so far I’m doing good.
So that’s the background. Wish me wooshes and weightloss, people. I need it.
Update at 6:01 p.m.:
I did manage to take a 20 minute walk with Robbie (my baby boy) in the jogging stroller. I know it was only 20 minutes but that’s better than nothing!
Well, here’s my new diet blog. I really wish I didn’t need something like this but I do because I’m a fat chick. Now I’m a fat chick on a diet.
I don’t feel like posting a whole bunch of stuff right now so I’ll give a somewhat full background tomorrow.
As of today I weigh 168.
