About Aimee
Hi, I’m Aimee. I’m 33 and am living with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). I am trying to lose weight to please my kidney doctor, and myself, too.
I’ve been overweight since I was about 8 years old. Born 3 weeks early, I was encouraged to eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, to get weight on me. When I got to be about 8 that caught up with me and I have struggled with my weight ever since.
I have been on low carb and Phentermine to lose weight in the past. This time I am trying a whole foods/Mediterranean way of eating, mixed with DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) principles.
I lost 50 pounds a few years ago, but it all came back on with this clinical trial I am doing. I am planning on losing the 50 pounds again, and to keep going to lose a total of 150 pounds. When I weight 180, my doctors and I will decide how much more, if any, that I need to lose.
