Taking the plunge
I’m starting this program I’ve blogged about on November 29. It will take 2-3 weeks to get all the testing in that they want to do. This includes an initial medical consultation with the MD, nutritional assessment with the dietician, exercise review with the physiologist, complete panel of lab work, EKG & exercise stress test; measurement of body composition, and basal metabolic rate, then they will design a weight loss program that is personalized just for me.
This will be nice because I have not done a formal program like this for weight loss since I was 8. Last time around it was a program at the hospital called The Body Shop. I still have my book from that program. They taught a lot of good techniques, unfortunately exercise has never been my strong suit. I was never able to incorporate that, at that time.
The only time I have been successful going to the gym is when I had a trainer help me map out a plan of action. Then I had someone help me to tweak it a bit later. I think this might be like that, at least I am hopeful that it will be.
Saying yes to the program means a committment of at least 6 months. OF COURSE I am going to stay in as long as I can. My goal here at 3FC has been 180, but it was always my hope that I would be able to see if I could maintain at that weight. I think these guys are going to want me to be more around 160 before they let me go. We’ll see when we meet, I guess.
For me it’s more about just getting under 300 pounds, at this point. I haven’t been able to crack that since 2004 when I went off my diuretic. And I can’t tell you the last time I saw 250, but I’m thinking it had something to do with phentermine 10 years ago. The lowest I got to on my own with just exercise was 277. I haven’t seen the 190’s since probably 1989? So I am excited to see how I can do.
Before I start any of this I need to clean up this kitchen and take stock of the pantry. After a hot oil treatment for my hair & some at-home dermabrasion this morning, I think that’s what I’m going to do for today. Hope everyone else is having a great weekend! xoxox
