Update on my dad

Some more info on the transplant. The donor was a 17 year old kid with a gunshot wound to the head. (gotta love Halloween in Madison) ( The parents chose to donate the organs. I wish I could let them know how much I appreciate their decision, how much it means to my family. My niece was so happy to see him tonight, tubes be damned.

You know just last week or the week before when I was driving back from visiting him I thought to myself, “I wish he could just get a kidney, so he wouldn’t have to go through this.” Scary!!!

Thanks for the support, guys. I *heart* all of you!!!

He has the feeding tube out now & the breathing tubes out of his nose. I came down to eat & check my email, and to buy a deck of cards. He is sleeping comfortably, after asking for pizza, a grilled cheese sammich & fries for supper. He would have asked for more, but they would not let him. He took 2-3 bites of everything & slept.

He has been walking up & down the halls & I expect him to go home Monday at the earliest, Wednesday to Thursday at the latest, if everything keeps going swimmingly.

His creatinine is down to 1.4. To give the non-medical peeps out there some sort of measure, mine is 1.1. His was 5.3 before the surgery. They expect it to drop below zero.

Thank you for all your prayers & well wishes, it means a lot to us.
