finally Friday

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!  The vet has seen Rachel and we don’t have to pack her legs in ice every day—-that’s over, she’s been fitted for some special horseshoes but is still confined to her stall.  Going out tomorrow to just visit and maybe groom.  She is getting near to going in season again so getting in the stall with her will totally depend on her mood; I don’t need any more bruises.  Never thought I’d be keeping track of a horses’ period!!!

Let’s see what else is new–I know I haven’t made it on here to record food but I’ve been pretty good this week.  Skipped gym on Wed.; my calf was just too sore but it seems to be slowly getting better and I went today—did tm and ladies lite aerobics.  I think I probably was sore from one of those awful leg cramps I get during the night.  I did watch it closely and toyed with the dr. idea. I also have been left with a lump the size of a marble under the skin where my huge “Rachel” bruise was.  Falling apart, I am!

Been busy planning and getting ideas and buying decorations for the first orchestra concert.  It’s fun but I’m having fears that people won’t bring the snacks and finger foods we’re hoping for to serve afterward.  Still have to write a few rah-rah blurbs for the orchestra newsletter.  May have to help with alterations on a few of the gowns I measured the girls for, only one was so off it had to be re-ordered which is fine; I thought there’d be a lot more.  Spoke with the woman who did the measuring last year and she said she didn’t exactly listen to the teacher’s instructions about ordering by bust size alone.

News flash—–we had a drive-by shooting in my neighborhood—-2:18am one night this week, other side of the street and three doors down–3 bullets through the front of the house.  Supposedly one of the boys in the family is into the drug scene.  I am SOOOO PISSED at them for bringing this to MY neighborhood!!!!  We are middle class as they come and I never dreamed this would happen…….I often take the dog out front for her last pee around midnight…..I don’t need this.  The shooting was directly across the street from the friend I walk dogs with, her huskys went nuts that night.  She told me a whole list of people in the neighborhood who have begun a closer relationship with their weapons; somehow this does not make me feel better.  There’s a 357 around here someplace and I’m a very good shot with it but I’m pretty sure we don’t have any ammo and I’m certainly not about to turn the place into an armed camp; especially not with a teen living here.  I hate seeing people carrying in public; other than police of course.  Makes me very nervous.

Got some lovely pansies today; now i gotta find time to get them in the ground!

Bfsk: 1 pkt. instant oatmeal, made with water……….lunch: chicken, brown rice, mushroom soup, light yogurt, piece low fat cheddar………….dinner: about 3oz. of prime rib, 1/2 baked pot w/a little sour cream and butter, sm. Greek salad.

G’nite chickadees!

Good grief on that drive by - wtf? There are SO many reasons to stay away from drugs - this is one of the ones that they neglect to mention. Please be careful out there and geez, an armed neighborhood is even more frightening than the drive by. Jittery folks with their fingers on the trigger…

    makes me jittery….

Happy for the horsey and for you & A. At least THAT is over with…

you be careful ms. soclose when you walk your pup.

My God! How disconcerting! A drive-by! Like you, I’d be royally pissed! Hopefully, your neighbor will get out of the drug scene, get kicked out of the house, or move out!

Thanks so much for your comments! It always makes me feel better to know there are parents out there who KNOW what teachers do and get involved with the school. What you’re doing is wonderful!

Congratulations on staying the course on diet and exercise! You’re an amazing woman!

I know life is getting more violent - I see it at school all the time - but I don’t think having guns is the answer. My worry is that they can be used against you! On the other hand, I am not sure what the answer is. Maybe, vote democrat???

    Cheers

Yikes! How freaky to have something like that occur in an otherwise “safe” neighborhood! Please be careful, k?

Good luck with the orchestra concert!

I’m so glad that all the hard work you’ve done with Rachel has paid off.

I was very sad to read of the schoolkids’ suicide and then the driveby.

Keep up with the great exercise regime and don’t let your life be stuffed around by those people. YOU are soclose

Oh geez, that is an extremely upsetting thing to have happened. I would be as upset as you for sure, and like Annie says, please watch out when you do those late night walks. Also, so good to read that the outcome with Rachel is good, you and A. are so kind to follow her progress as you do. Your food choices still sound so good - and delicious. I love Greek salad - kudos for you for managing to eat so healthily.
    Take care dear lady!
    Love,
    RubyJean
