service back
Hey! Hi, y’all! Phone (and computer) restored sometime Monday but I haven’t been here much; mainly just to sleep. Knew it was not working right for WEEKS but good old dh didn’t see anything the matter until it finally completely and totally DIED. Will get caught up on blogs but not right now as I have to leave to move A. from orchestra camp to volunteering at one of the historic homes, then to cello lesson, followed by riding lesson. Doesn’t make sense to come home inbetween so I’ll go to the library or just browse stores. She’s added a new job—pony ride walker for a company that does children’s parties; not bad pay for a kid, either; more than she’s ever made before. Not quite what she had in mind when she said she wanted to work with horses but it will have to do and I’m happy with her doing this. Plus it’s a bit more in the college fund. Yesterday was her 16th b-day. The running club had one of it’s summer races so we turned it into a bit of a celebration for her—they all sang Happy Birthday and I supplied brownies for 200. Not the semi-formal dinner cruise her friend had last month but A. was happy with it. She’s having an MRI on a foot Monday; ordered by ortho doc; I’m a bit concerned but will write more when we know something definate.
Weight stable—-no time for gym, just madly running around…..gotta say food hasn’t been too bad.
Thanks for the emails, etc. when the stupid thing was acting up and afterward. Missed this place something awful!!!!! G’day, chickadees!
Later: got off on the riding lesson thanks to some big thunderstorms and actually got caught up on a few blogs.
Just finished a book A. MADE me read–a young adult—not something I’d usually pick…….The Book Thief….and she was right: very, very good–moving, powerful. Now started The Glass Castle. Have looked twice at the library for Ellabella’s pick: Gone to Soldiers, really shouldn’t as I have easily over a hundred around here needing to be read. Finally saw dvd of Babel—loved it, can see why it got all the awards it did. Both dh and neighbor thought it was too slow; I thought it was paced perfectly.
The young chins need to be adopted and A.’s friend offered them to us. I loved them but think they should go to a household w/ kids who will adore them for years and years—I was more fascinated w/ them than A. We’ll see. Plus I’ll forever have to worry about the dog getting into their room.
G’nite, chickadees; time for my hot milk and bed!

Ugh, technology sucks sometimes. Our laptop has gone up to the big refuse pile in the sky so I am stuck surfing the web at work or using hubby’s work laptop at home. Hope we get a new one soon.
Sounds like you are keeping plenty busy and still staying active even if you haven’t made it to the gym.

Welcome back! Who needs to go to the gym???? I’m worn out just trying to read all you’ve got going on, much less doing it!

Omigosh! So glad to see you back among us, my dear Ms. Close! And yes, indeed, we too are enjoying this year’s cherry crop! Daily, just about! Indulging ourselves like mad due to the temporary nature of the indulgence and all. There must be a real glut on the maket this year! I got them yesterday for $2.99 a pound! I won’t be heading down to sis’s until the 7th of next month. Two weeks. Can’t wait, though. DH & I have been reading “The Stand” again after having it sitting collecting dust for years and years. One of King’s absolute best - probably the best, actually, considering that he began, shortly thereafter, pandering to the desire of his readership for grisly and - well, just plain stupid, mostly. But that’s just one person’s opinion. Okay. Two - DH feels the same way. Well, I won’t run on and on here, but it sure is nice, having you back!
Hugs,
Z

I am so glad you are back. We were all starting to get really worried about you. Not to mention that we simply missed you as well.
I have been pigging out on cherries as well. Love the little critters, and I needed a break from the mangos. I think if I eat another mango I will look like one……….hmm….come to think of it…. I do! Shaped like one that is for sure

Yay, so glad to have you back again. What is it about DH’s that they have to be hit over the head with catastrophe before they’ll take action? Isn’t The Book Thief just the best book! I totally loved it. Wonderful characters and such a great concept. Wish I could write like that (sigh)

Here is a book that will have you laughing out loud! (I swear I recommended it to many people and all of them loved it). A Year in the Merde but Steven (stephen?) Clarke (Clark?). You can sometimes find it in the travel section.
Glad you are plodding along. Sorry about A’s foot. A bit unnerving to say the least.
Take care
