Yeah..there is no EASY way to lose weight!! I haven't drank a pop in over 2 years! I don't drink milk of any kind. When I made those changes I lost ZERO weight! And I am only 34, so those "Easy weight loss changes" are crap! Weight loss is hard! It takes lots of work! It's worth it, but it is not easy! They should tell the truth for once and stop lying to us all!

I with all of ya. I haven't seen it "easy" yet. I have to admit I like walking, it's pretty easy. It's the AMOUNT of walking that takes a toll sometimes. That's why I have a dog... we suffer together. Somehow, that makes it easier. :)

Doncha love that commercial of the woman whose husband gives up bread and loses 20 pounds and she hasn't even had any bread for a year? He gives up cokes and loses his belly, she gives it up and loses her boobs. Story of my life.

:) The sweet life - a good book, hot milk, your baby girl snug in her bed safe and cozy.... you're right - the GREAT life ;)

I agree with you on those 'easy' ways to lose weight.

I read this article on the BBC about weight loss and how significant a role eating plays in this activity. Calorie dense is definitely the way not to go in our efforts....

too much of good food can lead to fat :)

ahhhhhh..... still waiting for that 'easy' weight loss...

Yeah, yah, ja...I know about those people too. I'm not one of them either. Most of us aren't, I suspect. I love life in your fast lane. Bring on the hot milk, a good book and an early night!!
Take care, dear lady...and kudos to A. for her doing so well at dressage on a horse that is not supposed to be easy....she's obiviously "got it".

Okay, I've seen those "easy ways" articles before & thought: how come the weight didn't come flying off when I gave up sugar in my coffee, soda (first regular, then diet), and whole milk? How come "something simple" like parking in the last spot in the lot hasn't turned me into a size 6 already?

Sure, weight loss is about making small changes in your life: I'm sure those tablespoons of sugar in my coffee that I no longer miss added up as I was gaining, but I don't see much change now that they're gone. It's the big changes that matter, and as you point out, it's easy to give up soda (after the initial shock, that is), but hard to be consistent with this diet & exercise stuff.

The other day I was wondering if I'd be in a size 6 after a year living in a "working" convent or in some farming commune. Can't happen, but I think I'd do well in a world where exercise was what you had to do to eat (someone's gotta dig up the potatoes for dinner) and where food was so hard to come by that you ate only what you really needed. There's part of me that really loves that image of getting back to a simpler time, but yesterday the part of me that likes the convenience of drive-thru cheese burgers stopped at McDonalds on the way up to the UP. UGH! So much for discipline!

Oh. THOSE people. Those "I'm on my 734th day of eating right and exercising for eight hours a day" people. Yeah. I don't see how they do it, either. I suppose they're the size zeros we read about? I don't know. I just know that I can't do it. Now you KNOW I've been eating pretty decently for a while now - and exercising SOME (walking) but I have to admit to a residual fear of getting hit by a truck as I'm crossing the street some day and dying without having had a hot fudge sundae the night before! Yeah. Patience. Seems like I've benn patient enough, you know? I REALLY really identify with the title of your blog - because it feels like I'm going to be wishing for "just ten more" for the rest of my days!
Have a lovely weekend, Ms. Close. Missed your last blog post and am annoyed with myself. Work has been outrageous this week.
Hugs,

I must admit I feel a little envious when I see people sticking to their diet and exercise for so many days. I am no good generally. I cant liev without good food. :( I saw some Indian actress saying weightloss is "no pain, no loss". Sounds sensible but very hard to follow.

lots of love,

I too am often amazed at the number of days people go on being damn near perfect on their diets... A lot of inspiration.

You know you're getting old when you see someone talk about going to bed early with a good book and a hot drink and you think "THAT sounds like fun!" ;-)
