lovely Monday

Sun, no humidity (in the South we really appreciate this!!!!), perfect temp, slight breeze.  Even the dog wants to be out and Betsy B’s a creature who loves her couch.

Stayed with good food all day yesterday—another one down!  Got up early; let A. sleep in and worked three races down on the boardwalk–a 5K, 8K, and 1mile.   It went smoothly.  Late afternoon we went out to the stable to see Rachel.  I have a couple barn cats who won’t leave me alone, always rubbing on my legs when I least expect it.  I like cats but these guys make you wonder what they’ve been up to.  They just seem to “appear”.

Last soccer game today—YAY!!!!  I’ll be glad to have this over with; not my favorite sport.  Nothing I ever pictured her doing.  WAY too many possibilities for injury to suit me.  Crossed fingers till 5:30pm.

Went to gym this am: stretch and warm up exercises, weight machines (light on the sore shoulder), 3.1 mi. w/incline on tm, ladies lite aerobics.

Food so far: bfsk: 2 pieces French toast / about a tsp. maple syrup, decaf tea w/skim…………lunch: mixed greens salad w/ tomatoes, cucs. and lite balsamic vinegar dsg, Progresso French onion soup, 1/2 can (too much sodium, I know), banana………will try to update later

 Off to the shower, chickadees!

That’s what I feel like I’m doing with this renewed attempt at controlling food.  It’s been over a week now since I’ve had a candy bar or real ice cream (McDonald’s hot fudge is my nemesis, big time).  So far, so good.  Two pounds of the 5 for May gone.

Food: bfsk: grapenuts flakes, V8, decaf tea…….snack: a few peanuts……lunch: 1 small hamburger w/bun–only mushrooms on it, pasta salad, a couple marinated mushrooms……….dinner: McDonalds grilled BBQ chicken wrap (ate only 1/2 the wrap part), maybe 5 french fries—–this is the part where I actually said “NO” to a hot fudge sundae, had a bit of low fat yogurt ice cream instead at home.

Quiet normal day; beautiful weather.  Did laundry this am, made lunch, about 4pm took A. to the home of the man she occ. works for.  She scrubbed off all his porch furniture with him and cleaned and opened up the screened porch for summer ( I LOVE this porch, it’s mostly where I spend my time when she’s mowing, etc.).  At this point, a break was taken by the workers (and I woke up from a lovely nap) to watch the Kentucky Derby which turned out to be a heartbreaker for anyone rooting for the only filly (as I was). Then they did a bit of computer bookkeeping stuff for his company.  While this last was going on, I was on the porch enjoying the evening and watching the night come.  His home backs up to a marsh; there were raccoons running back and forth on the lawn from the beginning of dusk on.

Drove the hour home about nine and it’s off to bed for me.  Sleep well, chickadees.

I am exhausted so this will be short.

Food: bfsk: grapenuts flakes w/skim, V8,  decaf teaw/skim…….snack: f.f. cottage cheese, 1/2 pear………….lunch: mushroom & spinach quiche w/hash brown crust– 1/8 of whole, pasta salad, marinated mushrooms………..dinner: 1/2 small sweet potato, V8, 4 slices deli thin sliced turkey, black cherry yogurt…………will have warm skim milk and 1/2 Wasa cracker before bed

Gym: 2.4 mi. tm w/incline, 5 min hard row, ladies lite aerobics

Trimmed bushes and other yard work this evening and took dog for a long walk

Think I may have found the old willpower again.  Got weighed on Sat. and was disgusted…….been very careful since then and now,  today, Thurs. morning I was down 2lbs.—-I have candy and brownies in the house and it’s not been calling my name; only early last week I couldn’t keep my hands of of it.  Of course there’s a bit of a way to go yet just to get back to my title.  I just wish I understood this willpower, determination thing cause when I’ve got it, I do great.  I keep saying it’s not rocket science, this cals. in, cals. out stuff but the strength to not put the cals. in is sometimes beyond me!!!!!!!

Ellabella had a post the other day about meaness in the world.  Been thinking and looking around.  You know, we just had those tornados; turned out there were 8 of them; officially the strongest has been deemed a 3 but the local forcasters swear it was a 4……anyway, in the midst of all the stories of amazing escapes and heroism and people helping each other, there was a story last night of thieves ripping out copper wiring from devastated homes….talk about low!!!!  Today I sat at a light; the turn light went green and the poor woman next to me didn’t move fast enough for the guy behind her and he blasted his horn—much longer than needed, even if it was needed at all.  I saw her startle terribly.  As he pulled past me, you could just see the anger written all over him.  I took A. to Sam’s Club for a slice of pizza on the way home; asked for a cup for water—they won’t do that anymore, got rid of styrofoam cups in a effort to go green (?); you have to buy bottled water!!!!!!!!  Yeah, PLASTIC is sooooo “GREEN”.  So, give me a plastic cup, already, or a paper one.  “Will take it up with management”  Yeah, right. Mean, just plain mean. Remember how nice we all were after 9/11???  We all need to remember how fleeting this all is.

On to more pleasant things.  I had an indigo bunting in my yard for the first time today, couldn’t believe my eyes; added it to my life list.  Haven’t seen the hummers for a couple days.  The eagle chick hatched at our botanical garden.  A. rode both Tues. and Wed. nights, her instructor is very happy with her getting Rachel to perform.  There’s the sweetest new born colt at the barn; he’s adorable.

Gym yesterday:  2.1 on the tm w/ incline, 10 min. rowing, ladies lite aerobics.   My sore shoulder was getting better, then Rachel jerked on me when I was holding her and I’m afraid we’re back to sore again.

Food today–went back to bed again after getting A. to the bus so it’s a bit screwed up, anyway……….1/2 can tomato soup w/leftover brown rice thrown in, 4 slices thin sliced deli turkey, marinated mushrooms, blueberries……….1/2 slice Sam’s Club plain cheese pizza………2oz. tuna w/lemon & pepper, mixed greens salad w/ tomatoes and cucs. and sun dried tomato vinegarette, V8 juice, strawberries
