poor kid

We went to the barn yesterday and had a talk with Gracie’s owner.  She’s decided to have Gracie professionally trained for riding.  A. is soooo bummed.   I can see her point—once a week is not going to do it with lazy Gracie.  Neither A nor she have the time to get over there often enough.  The barn is about an hour from where we live.  So, no riding Gracie till about summer, poor A.   This woman has a lot going on in her life, including disabled toddler twins and a marriage which is circling the drain.  She’s just overwhelmed.  I feel terrible for her. Have a few ideas on closer horses, leads from people in tack shops.

Eating WAY too much chocolate—that seems to be my big downfall.  I swear there is such a thing a chocolate addiction.  I know there is.

Enjoying sleeping in; skipped gym today.  A has volunteer stint at one of the historic homes today.   Tomorrow, after soccer practice, we’re heading out to the country to visit my neighbor who is house sitting some palatial place in the country and see how the other half lives.

Spring is making progress although so far, spring break has been way too cold to suit me.  Supposed to warm up a bit starting today.  My daffys are over.  The Bradford pear trees are done blooming and going to leaf.  My river birches are getting tiny, tiny leaves.  Saw tulips on Sunday and azealas in bloom.  Saw my fav. yesterday for the first this year—wisteria—-loved this stuff down in S.C.; where there would be massive amounts of vines just covering the tallest trees—gorgeous!!!!

Gotta get breakfast—onward, chickadees.

Later: walked with my dau. and our Betsy Basenji and neighbor’s dog (a huge Husky named Nemo) almost an hour tonight, sun almost down by the time we were done, temp perfect.  Nemo is one of the very few dogs Betsy gets along with and they adore each other; but it sure it a strange looking when they walk together.

G’nite chickadees.

Ahhhh. HERE you are! Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about A’s temporary horselessness. You DO have leads, though, on other, closer, beings of the equine persuasion, so I’m sure everything will come together serendipidously (serendipitously?) and A shall not remain horseless for long! Oh, fun seeing how the “other half” lives! I’m afraid I’d come home with all sorts of ideas that would eventually lead DH and I into bankruptcy or worse… Oh, wisteria! Oh, southern landscaping (or lack thereof) in general - the lushness of it all. Just gorgeous, and every time I’m down there - North Carolina, Louisiana, etc) I am just so envious and feel so deprived with these too-few months that we have up in New England for growing. We have some pretty places and attractive summer gardens, but nothing - absolutely nothing - that can hold a candle to the beauty of the overgrown flowering shrubs and trees farther south. Ohmigosh - YOUR Daffys are gone and mine haven’t even come up yet! I SWEAR I need to move!
Glad the chocolate’s about gone, although in the past, that was always a sad event for me - the last of the Easter chocolate, I mean. I may have licked a few wrappers in my time.
    Hugs to you, Ms. Close!

Wow sounds like you’re goin’ to have a fabulous day tomorrow! Wisteria - how fantastic is that? So beautiful and fragrant. I just love it.

I’m hoping that you’ll find a great horse nearby so A can enjoy herself. Poor woman sounds like she’s really in a bind!

Chocolate - gosh I shouldn’t talk - i ate like 4 pieces today and honestly it was ridiculous!

Hello - my name is deb and I’m a ….chocoholic. I feel your pain!!! I am so envious. I have a couple of little green sprouts and now I fear that they won’t make it since we may be getting snow tonight.

None of our daffodils have bloomed yet. I was hoping to get into the garden this week-end and dig. I’ve already lined up some potential help!
Hope A. finds another horse soon - surely she will. She could have a part time job as a horse exerciser!
Ahhhhh. Chocolate, yes, I’ve been down that road (actually, am on that road - I have a bag of Dove eggs in my desk drawer left over from Easter).
    Have a lovely week-end…Ruby

All the garden sounds so lovely. I keep thinking I should try some but I am not a gardening person at all. No space too.

I love chocolates too. Having some of these low chocolate kit kat or perks. Planning to buy some from the shop near my gym. They have have some which are hardly sweet but have a high chocolate content. delish!

Hope A finds a horse soon so another owner gets free help! :)

very good to hear you are sleeping well.

    love,
