For Shelby
and all the other good dogs out there. After the dog food scare I looked into making homemade food for Betsy the B. but never got that ambitious; her brand wasn’t affected anyway. But I did try a couple different treats and this one proved the winner. The garlic is supposed to keep fleas away, too.
Garlic Parmesan Cookie
2c. flour (white or wheat-I use half each), 1/3c. oil (I use canola), 1/3c. Parmesan cheese, 1t. garlic powder, 1 egg, 1/3c. powdered milk, enough water for a stiff dough—-get your hands in there and mix. Roll out thinly-I put between 2 sheets of tin foil in about 3 batches and use rolling pin. Cut in cute shapes or not—I don’t bother anymore. Put in a 350 oven for 15-20min. Turn oven off, can leave in oven up to 8 hrs. Break in pieces, store tightly covered. Freeze in zip bags. I make it up about every 3 weeks. As you can see, it’s also safe for humans, not my fav. though.
Ok……. bfsk: 1 pkt. reg. oatmeal w/ skim, V8 juice, decaf. tea w/skim……………. snack: 2 slices thin deli ham, 2 rye crackers, 1 slice low fat Swiss……….lunch:homemade clam chowder-2 bowls, 1/2 banana…………….dinner: Panera: 1/2 Greek salad, low fat chicken noodle soup
I keep thinking it’s later than it actually is with this time change. A. is currently snoring in the Lazy Boy. She had a headache again today; I think she’s going through the season change/ turning the heat on thing that I did last week or else she’s got another sinus infection. I put a warm damp cloth on her face and covered w/ a heating pad on low—humidity, as some of you suggested, may just help. Will try to talk her into neti later but it’s a hard sell; in usual 15 y.o. fashion she tells everyone for days that I tried to drown her. Been there, done that; not sure I want to revisit that whole scene.
Later, chickadees!

Thanks for the doggy treat recipe! My dog could use some flea repellent! Advantix, and frontline help but don’t keep them away. She is a flea magnet!
Ann is right! you are so right on with your food! YOU ROCK!

Shelby’s gonna love these! You are doing so well with your food. I’m planning a very healthy food day today, but it’s early yet!
I do cook for Shelbs - she started with ear infections and “hot spots” a couple of years ago, and that’s when I started cooking for her. It helped a lot, and I didn’t have to always be giving her medicine.
