same old, same old

No bus again!  So, in addition to the inconvience of having to drive A. to school, I was an hour later than I planned for the gym.  This did NOT please moi.  I had to fit what I could in before lite aerobics @ 9am.  Did not get to any weight machines.  Did quick stretch and exercise warm-up….found out just how much flexibility I’ve lost over the summer, not good.  Two quick miles on the treadmill at slight incline, 12.5 min. on the rowing machine; then over to lite aerobics (40 min.) and that was it.  Couple errands and then home where I tried to contact the transporation supervisor again….gave up after 45 min. on hold with those stupid inane messages again.  Called the school and related the problems to the transportation person there who said the bus driver got it into his head to “re-arrange” the stops today and all would be normal tomorrow…….(hmmmmm, and this person still has a job because.????……..)( same person who thought that adding a stop thought it meant it was to be cut)….Finally called the school district admin. and reached a very helpful woman who spoke with the driver and tells me A. will be picked up tomorrow at (drum roll) 5:45am….no, and no, this is NOT what this drivers boss told me—she’s last pick-up and to have her out there by 6:20am, so back to the driver she goes and hopefully we are straightened out…..but I’m not holding my breath……I don’t know if it’s funny or if I’m getting hysterical………do I REALLY want to put my girl-child on a vehicle with this person???  She went out of zone for elementary-no transportation was provided- and I drove her…….in 6 years she was NEVER tardy; a fact I’m very proud of which doesn’t mean squat………..but it matters to me, so there.

Food was OK but I have time to blow that yet…..

I can go to bed soon and it can’t be soon enough to suit me because it was another night of 4hrs. of sleep only with no nap this time.  I get to go to the gym tomorrow, I can’t wait, it’s been soooo long…I am working on the exercise goals I set on Sunday…I’ve walked at least 4 miles so far this week and did 4 on the exercise bike today. 

Bfsk: grapenuts flakes, skim, V8, tea…..then the infamous stop at Dunkin Doughnuts: 1 coffee cake muffin and a decaf coffee w/cream…..lunch: dh and I went to a buffet; we always go out to eat for lunch the first day of school to celebrate, I had clam chowder, vegs.: carrots, corn, green beans, brussels sprouts, a little mashed potatos w/ about 2 T. gravy, roast beef (it’s so easy, I forgot and I’ve gone over my beef allotment already with this—-someone please keep me away from the beef!!!) and a piece of chocolate cake minus the icing (yuck, way too much sugar).  We ate late, around 2pm and I’m not hungry yet…..I plan on a nectarine yet and a few almonds.

I ended up driving back to the school cause dau. thought she missed the activity bus after cross country practice….got a call from her @ 5:10pm—-hit rush hour again……tomorrow has GOT to be better!!!

OK, First day of school….remember last week when we were skipped on the transportation sched. and I had to get my dau.’s bus stop set up by a transportation director?????  We were to get to our stop by 6:20am, bus 105 and be the last stop on the route…well, we were there at 6:10am, gave up at 6:50am, walked home,  and I drove her, 1/2 hr. in rush hour city traffic each way; I’m doing 60 on the Blvd……..on my way home after dropping her off, I swear Dunkin Doughnuts just reached out and grabbed me…got caught up with ‘Cap.’, a Viet Nam vet ( 3 tours ) who hangs out there and has not ever really left those years behind;  people kind of avoid him but I used to go in there a lot when my dau. was little (and I was busy getting fat)and the 2 of them really hit it off; he’s never been anything but super kind to her; I still like to check on him now and then……..came home and called the same transportation director and actually got to speak to him after 40min. on hold listening to inane messages; he immediately called the driver who said he took his original message as directions to DELETE the stop:  How can you delete a stop that didn’t exist in the first place?????  It’s a difficult job and the first day was total madness; I could hear tons of background conversations.   The director actually thanked me for being polite to them—good thing he couldn’t SEE me gritting my teeth and speaking through them—-and THIS is why I eat………

When bad news is good news

I got weighed this am; I haven’t been doing this for a few weeks b/c of knowing I was pigging out with my  dau.’s teeth trauma and drama.  Well, I can now title this blog   ’Just 10 1/2 more’   ….good news is that I haven’t gained major weight, bad news is that I’m where I was in May!!!!  All in all I’m 2 lbs. above the lowest I attained so far…..

Bfsk: grapenuts flakes, skim, V8, tea………………..lunch: 1 1/2 beef hot dogs w/ buns and mustard (first hot dogs I’ve had in almost a year, another beef choice for the week gone), broccoli salad, tomato soup……………dinner: chicken and 1/2 of the wrap it came in from McD’s, broccoli salad, 1/2 kiwi, a few peanuts, Skinny Cow fudge bar.

Tomorrow is the first day of school here.

Had a lovely nap today cause I got only about 4 hrs. sleep last night…fell asleep around 2am, got up early to go watch the half marathon (13.2mi.).  I walked out of my development to the blvd. where a turn was at about the 5 mi. mark.  Saw bunches of runners/walkers I know; actually most of them spotted me—didn’t have my contacts in and my distance vision is just rotten.  At the point where I was, the race was turning on to a side road and one thing we have in excess is deer; a deer came running out of the brush, scared the daylights out of about 6 runners and did an immediate turn in the other direction back into the brush.  I was directly across the road (just 2 lanes) from where it came out; reminded me of that vid. on the web a few weeks ago from Sturgis about the deer leaping over the guy on the motorcycle.  Bet he/she had quite the story for its little deer family.  I saw a few wheelchair racers, one leg amputee, numerous casts, and leg braces, strange party outfits including brides, signs, lots and lots of Hokies…….Got an email tonight from a friend who has already signed up for next year with his daughter!!!!  I heard we had 24,000 this year….now you know why I didn’t work the finish line, do you have any idea how long it takes for 24,000 people to finish a half marathon?????  believe me, a L-O-N-G time….

Anyway, food…bfsk: grapenuts flakes, V8, plum, tea, skim…..lunch: turkey, thin sliced deli, half a big tomatoe, small amt. corn, broccoli salad, slice of Alpine Swiss, Skinny Cow fudge bar,  dinner: 1 1/2″ Hilshire Farm beef sausage, butter beans, broccoli salad, 1/2 nectarine

I’m still messing around with some sort of plan for eating/exercising this month. I wore a pedometer today; my milage is now 4.29 after the walk to the half marathon and a dog walk that was at least 2mi. tonight.  Since I haven’t been really doing anything planned or organized all summer(unless you count the one little hour of yoga a week that I haven’t even made it to lately), I guess starting slow would be best.  I really need to cut down on red meat…..bfsk. is always the same for me so that leaves 14 meals a week to deal with. So I think this may be doable:  fish: 3x   chicken, turkey: 4x  beef: 3x  meat and fish free: 4x…..(oops, I forgot stuff like ham, pork and bacon but don’t eat much of that anyway)  I’m crossing off what I’ve had on a piece of paper and started my week today, so I’m already down 1 beef and 1 turkey choice.  Meatless is gonna be hard, really hard, gotta look around the web cause all I can think of right now is eggs and peanut butter for protein replacements……have a fish recipe from Ruby  Jean I want to try…..

exercise……..hmmm, lets see what I’m willing to promise per week…walking, OK 12mi. should be doable, most of this will be measured at the gym on a treadmill on incline……rowing 1hr………bike…(depending on how much my butt hurts)  20 mi……have to see how the weight machines feel when I get back to them, then there’s the hr. of yoga and my ladies lite exercise class M. + W.  Will keep track and report next Sun…………..g’nite!!!

I think that restless feeling is gone somewhat.  Food was not very good again, let’s get it out of the way.

bfsk: grapenuts flakes, v8, cantalope, tea, skim…….lunch: finished the tuna noodle casserole, only about 2 spoonsful left (don’t ya love when they put it back like that?), also had a small bit of that Mexican Frito  casserole thingy—I feel guilty about left-overs and no one else seems interested in them, about 8 cherry tomatoes………..snack: almonds w/ Fiber One……dinner (out): chips and salsa, shared salad, 3 small pieces of parsley red potatos, about 3oz. of sirloin, grilled, marinated

Had a late lazy morning….took dau. to mowing job (relaxed on a swing while she mowed) then we played croquet on the lawn….I didn’t win any of the games, went to see Becoming Jane and went to eat…

It’s a new month…in a few days I can get to the gym again, I should set some goals….food-wise and exercise….one thing I do think, I’m eating way too much beef; got to work on some sort of plan, a guide….g’nite!
