Organic?

So I got these Bakery Squares from Back to nature. They look very healthy, what with all the claims on the box. On the side it says only 70% organic though. And although it says ‘No artificial preservatives’ on the front, the last thing in the ingredients is ‘tocepherols added for freshness’. I looked this up: Mixed Tocepherols: A preservative. In natural foods it is usually forms of vitamin E. I guess it’s not artificial, so it doesn’t count. I sometimes think all the stress of worrying about eating unhealthy foods might be worse than eating them. :D

The packaging is VERY deceptive, the 5 bars are just 2 x 2 inches square and take up just half the box they are in. What’s the other half of the box there for?

They taste good anyway and stave off hunger for an hour or so - very yummy! I got the banana walntut flavor. I wish they made health bars in better flavors, I don’t want protein-packed candy bars!

I weighed this morning and I’m at 162.5 again. :)

Food was good. Aunt Flo is visiting so no exercise for a few days, unless curling up in a ball and sobbing quietly counts. Let’s hear it for Midol people!!

  1. I hate when boxes are deceptive like that. I want healthy snacks that are yummy too. I tried the Soy Joy bars and they sucked. Sorry to hear about AF. She is a B! Thank GOD for Midol!

  2. Greetings! Thanks for your recent posts to my blog. Glad to see you are on top of these food rip offs. Personally, I have concluded that processed foods should just be avoided- except chocolate, of course!!

I have read all the Harry Potter books. In the latest, some of my predictions came true and one did not. I won’t tell you, unless you ask! I know some people get upset if you give it away! AND, I discovered that my Sorting hat puppet can also be worn as a hat! Of course, it sits on your head rather an encompassing it. Should prove quite entertaining at school next year!!! Oddly enough I had no interest in HP until I taught the first book. I agree, the shorter books are better. I noticed with the Order of the Phoenix and the latest book, it takes about 400 pages to really get into it. That’s a lot of dedication!

    Take care…
    Shari
