Day 67

Weigh in day- no change- I am still holding at 197 lbs. I am not upset, as I think my body doesnt know whether I coming or going. I think it stalled as my calories have remained consistent. I was hoping the exercise would have bumped me over to the losing side, but not yet. No worries. I love the bike, so even if I didnt shed another pound, I know it’s good for me.  I’m tired of tracking stuff and not seeing any results. I wonder if I will continue?? I know I need to make a change somewhere, but am stumped. I have recently thought about going to the doctor. I feel after 67 days of diligent eating,  I would have lost more than 10 lbs, or at least not stalled. Anyone have any opinions? I come from a family with heart disease, and I’m a little concerned for my own health. I’m fine, dont get me wrong, but the extra weight cant be good for me. So I think I may schedule an appointment and have a little chat with the doctor. I just want to weigh all my options.  No pun intended!!! lolok, enough serious stuff. We just got home from the hockey game. We won, 4-0. It wasnt too rowdy of a crownd, but we had decent seats. My 14 yr old daughter invited a friend, who had never been, so it was a treat to all. We even got our one token fight of the game. With unsportsman-like conduct and everything. I use to work for the WolfPack doing promotions a couple of years ago. It was fun to be back there. There is a certain energy- I love it.Due to all the running around, I am going to save my bike ride for tomorrow. I’m not going to say I missed it, cause that draws negativity, so I will ride again tomorrow. There are no hard fast rules here. I ride the bike because I enjoy it.  It’s just that simple.Have a great weekend!!!!

    Sandy,
Getting a check up with your doctor is always a good idea, if you haven’t had a general check up in a while. Perhaps you could be screened for any problems with your thyroid (something I always had hoped I’d find out was the cause of all my weight gain! haha) or anything like that. Going this long and losing 10 pounds isn’t bad, though, you know. It may not be what you were hoping for, but I counted today how many weeks it’s been since I (we) started all of this…and it has been a little over 10 weeks. So, averaging a pound a week over 10 weeks, you’ve averaged a pound per week. I know it has stalled lately, but I’m starting to think that stalling is part of it. I think you can push past and start losing again. And you’re right about the bike thing - - even if it doesn’t help with the weight loss, you know it can only do you good for your overall health. That’s a great way to look at it!
Glad you enjoyed the hockey game. I’ve never been to a hockey game! I’m sure that is a LOT of fun!! :)

Sadly losing 10 pounds is actually good. I have been much much slower than that. In part, I suspect it is our age and the fact we are heading toward menopause. Things just don’t work like they used to so guessing what is normal and what isn’t doesn’t really work. Think of it this way…puberty can occur any time between 8 and 17 these days. No one “rushes” the body to change. Likewise, with weightloss, sometimes we have to let the body do its thing in its own time. Pain in the arse, I know, but it is what it is.

Why do so many people who start an exercize regimen have this experience of either gaining weight, or staying the same? Frustrating I know. Let the weight just take a back seat, for now, while you push for the baseline metabolic changes? Your metabolism becoming more efficient of a calorie burner sometimes makes you more hungry as well. I’ts all so complex, but health from exercize is way better off than thinness from calorie reduction. You WILL find the balance… you surely will. One thing in your favor, spring and summer are on their way and naturally easier to pare back on the calories, eating lots of watery foods like watermelon and ice teas, and such.

Great your team won!!! It’s okay to bargain with your bike, it will be there tomorrow. Keep the enjoyment up and the tiredness down. Good work Sandy. :D

Thanks for the comments on my blog. I held at 197.5 for months!! It is what it is. But if it makes you feel better, by all means see a dr.
