Day 46- Weigh In
196- 2 lbs this week. Woo Hoo! Back on track! As I mentioned in previous entries, I have been tracking my Carbs/Proteins/Fats- I definitely believe there is a correlation to this ratio and weight loss. I have been on a mission. That is probably understating my mission. I am a person that hates the unknown- I need answers, NOW, damn it. So along with my needing knowledge, I am excessively impatient. Great combination, huh? Well, for me, yes, cause I am optimistic I will find the answers, and it keeps me going. I bought a book yesterday, “The Metabolic Typing Diet” , and spent hours reading, and taking a test to identify my type. It’s something I have been researching for years. Does anyone remember “Eat Right For Your Blood Type”? I have been writing about increasing my protein, over my carbs and if this book is correct, so am I. I am a Protein Type. I am to eat higher amounts of proteins and good fats, and lower amounts of carbs. The reason being, I metabolize thru carbs way to quickly, causing additional hunger and cravings. It all makes complete sense to me. I tried it the other day(see my blog entry) and my weight had been stagnant. Two days later, I dropped 2 lbs. I might be onto to something. It’s a great book. It really talks about individuality, and that no one program will work for everyone. Even with their program, he highly recommends listening to your body. I have to find the right balance for me. So , I will continue on my journey- feeling much better having seen a 2 lb weight loss. I am going to give this metabolic way a chance, and see if I notice a change in not only weight loss, but my emotional and physical state. I have been lethargic and wonder if it’s from lack of significant protein. Stay tuned for new discoveries………..
I see the book now, disregard my other post, asking what book.
Wow, you’re probably close to having lost about 15 pounds? You must feel great! I never read EatRightForYourBloodType…. but I know that different people have different metabolisms, and different builds. I do think there is a lot of truth about how carbs create hunger for more carbs… just a bad mix. Protein seems to level out hunger. However, going too far into protein without carefully including carbs, I think sets up the typical AtkinsDiet type of failure syndrome, once a person starts pigging out on the carbs again. It’s got to be lifestle changes right?
Just one thing > Dairy should really be considered a ‘good fat’ as it’s animal fat, and thus saturated, and has cholesterol. Anything plant is Good, anything Animal is less good. That’s just my opinion though. Here’s to our success ! ::cheers!::
I get to thinking about how the carb thing has gotten out of hand , and in our country has made us overweight. It must be the ‘altered’ carbs, the processed flours, sugars, puffed grains, all of that. I think that Whole Grains are the best carbs you can get, when it’s time to alot for them (aside from vegetables and fruits. ) What does the book say about eating whole grains? There’s a mess of them out there, and now that WholeFoods Store has come to town, there’s many bulk exotic grains that I’m going to try. I’m not talking about rices and wheats, so much as different grains : quinoa, spelt, buckwheat, millet, stuff like that.
Quinoa is gaining popularity now, and is supposedly a higher protein grain…. just thought you would like to know.
altered grains… like degermed, and having the bran removed… the basis for most flours in the previous decades…. is likely the most evil of carbs.
above I accidentally said “Dairy should be considered a good fat” and I meant, of course, that “it should *not* be considered a good fat” … however, lowfat is a pleasant and healthy balance of proteins. Skim Mozz rather than Cheddar, 1% milk rather than 2%, nonfat yogurt over lowfat…. stuff like that. Especially where the food is condensed milk, as in cheese, but also in yogurt, you’re getting more cholesterol per amount.
Have I made enough comments on this post yet?

Hermit Girl cracks me up.
Sandy!!! WOW! Youv’e done great this week!! WAY TO GO!! I’m very happy for you! I’m wishing I had done that well! It is so great that you are on a mission to educate yourself as much as possible about all of this. Keep that up, because me being one of those people that just does “my own thing,” I’ll need some advice later on I’m sure - and I’ll know who to ask for it from!!
