Okay, I am making a recommittment to get back to bloggin.   It started with a bad modem that kept me from getting online for a few weeks (couldn’t figure out the problem), then I had computer issues, then I was just out of the routine.  I hope to catch up and see how everyone is doing.  Running wise things are still going!  I have to say, for me, this is the longest I’ve probably ever stuck to something, it’s been 3 months strong and while my weight drop has been slow (only cause I haven’t changed my food), there are changes in me, most importantly all my blood work from the check up is good - better than the previous labs so I’m going in the right direction.   I had the kids pick 5 candies each from their halloween stashes and the rest was thrown out in the garbage this evening.  Way too much has been around to tempt me.  Still training for the next 5K in December and even thinking of  a bigger one, my hubby took me on a 6 mile jog last week through the hills and surprisingly it didn’t kill me : )  I think actually the longer I’m out the better I get.  I usually start each run with a I’m not sure I can do this today, and by the end I’m thinking…maybe I’ll go a little further - must be the endorphins!  This week, other than trying to blog at least twice, I’m trying to get back to fitday and logging my calories, I have no idea what I’m eating these days.  Off to bed - g’nite.

I ran my first 5K today! (wish my internet was as fast as me ;)  Still having internet issues although today it’s a bit better.  Anyways…I was able to run the whole thing, it was a flat course, so cool to be part of it this time and not just tagging along with hubby.   I didn’t care for the first part when there are so many people, plus the run benefited all the schools in that city so there were alot of kids there running just like mine do…right in front of you and then slowing down.  After awhile things were more spaced and I found “periwinkle” girl to pace myself against.  To keep myself occupied I had names for certain people.  Periwinkle girl reminded me of the blogs :)  Anyways, I did it in 30 minutes 25 seconds!  Wish I had a picture but we didn’t bring a camera (just me and DH went and he ran too) and the photographers out there seemed to be only taking pictures of the kids so maybe the next race….(did I say that???)

At last I have some internet!  It’s intermittent and tempermental (kinda like me ;-)

 I can’t believe how much I use the web until this past week or so.  Anyways, hubby played with the cable line so it’s back a bit, he needs to do more to get it fully working - the pages can take forever to load.  Anyways, I wanted to log my runs.

Friday - 10/17 no run (left for our trailer ‘rally’) Kinda fun if you’re over 60, for us….not so much.

Saturday - ran with DH at the KOA  - approx 2 miles

Sunday - ran “the loop” when we got home

Monday - ran “the loop”

Today/Tuesday - ran “the loop” plus up to the gate

Signed up for another 5K that happens this weekend - yikes!  but I think I’m ready, It won’t be fast but then I can measure my improvement before the December 6th run.  Had the whole day from work today - kids on a fieldtrip.  Went to the new title9 store and got a new running bra.  The most painless bra buying experience yet.  I was just happy they had something in my cup size, usually stores don’t carry anything in the larger sizes so that was good AND it’s a cute (but expensive) store.  Anyways, Two more days of ‘training’ and hubby says Friday and Saturday need to be rest days.  Groin tendon/muscle was a bit sore today so hopefully it’s good again before Sunday.  Hope to catch up on blogs….first I have to catch up on the bills :O

Yes I feel like I’ve reached an all new low…my internet was sporadic at best last week, and now it is just completely down.  I don’t have it in me to spend $50 to wait all day for a tech to come out so for right now I’m just dealing with it.  I don’t think this post will be long since it doesn’t feel too anonymous blogging when strangers are constantly walking by.  Anyways, haven’t been feeling well, caught some kind of nastly cold, so I took yesterday and today off from running.  Planning to do a light run tomorrow.  Food has just been okay.  No binges but SB visits.  Here are my stats

Saturday - Family Hike instead (6 miles)

Sunday - 3 mile run with DH through the hills - felt good!

Monday - frist day sick, did an easy “loop”

Now that I’m working again the weekends have taken back there old meanings - that alas it’s Friday feeling.  When I was a stay at home mom it was the Complete opposite.  Sunday night I always had a tinge of excitement knowing that everyone would be  back to work/school and I would have my time back.  Anyways, it’s been a busy week, lots of blogging but all private just cause I’ve had some emotional turmoil to work out of me.  Nothing anyone else wanted to hear….Every once in awhile I get that way, I’m hoping it passes soon.  Unfortunately I doubt it will I just have to wade through it.  I often wonder if my mother had these things swimming in her mind at my age.  She always seemed such a rock.   Anyways took today off from running but had some great runs, pushed myself Tues, Wed, and Thurs with 3 milers.  Time was like 40 minutes or so but that’s just to log for the future, I’m not concerned about it now.  Officially signed up tonight for the 5K on December 6 - just two months away!  I’m excited, now I wish it was sooner.  The groin thing is still going on but mostly not when I’m running and it’s a dull soreness when I try and lift my leg too high.  It’s really hard to tell if it’s a getting used to the running thing kind of ache.  It does NOT seem like a “my body is revolting”  stop this NOW! type of pain.  Just keeping an eye on it.  Okay it’s girls night for dd10, I can’t believe how much 5th grade has changed this girl, she’s a little preteen suddenly.  Exciting and a bit bittersweet to watch.  Have a great weekend everyone :)

No Kvetching in This One!

So today is my 2 month anniversary.  Yaay me … I’ve stuck to something!  I’ve probably only lost 5 pounds these past two months, but I KNOW I’m gonna get on the calorie counting thing.  I can do this I KNOW I can, I just have to get to it.  Today I did get a tea at Peet’s instead of a mocha…baby steps.    Weight loss aside,  I’m just pleased about my running.  I know I have a long way to go, but I’m just enjoying the fact that I’ve stuck to something for 2 months.   And as fate would have it my first 5K is exactly 2 months away!

So we spent the weekend in SJ.  My dh ran the 1/2 marathon, he kept saying next year we can do it together….I’m seriously doubting that but then 2 months ago I never would’ve imagined me running 2 miles either.   On our way to the starting we popped into this really fancy romantic type hotel (a far call from our motel 6) so then dh starts trying to bribe me with a weekend stay next year just him and me…if I run with him.    And when he says ‘run with him’ he means walking to the starting area together and meeting back up at the end…Anyways, I thought about it some more this evening while I was doing my run and felt completely overwhelmed at the thought of a 13 miler.  BUT, no one said I had to RUN the whole thing.  I can definitely walk.  So who knows, I may get a fancy romantic night after all :D.   Who’s going to watch the kids?  he’s got a year I guess to figure that out! 

Okay so the 1/2 marathon was sorta fun.  I really like the atmosphere at the races.  There are people from all walks of life and and various stages of running, all cheering each other on,  and it’s just clean good fun.  There were a few groups of women wearing matching cute t-shirts all going as a team and I was thinking how much fun they were having.  It would be cool to be able to do that someday.  AND then there’s the freebies.  We were loaded down with so many give aways.    What can I say, I’m a cheap date - free stuff is a turn on!  Speaking of which, we got these samples from Quaker, 90 calorie packs, if you need to indulge they have these rice critters, chocolate mint, ohh they’re not bad to kill a craving (I am a big choclate mint fan).  There are some caramel ones too, I haven’t tried them yet.  I’m on a 12 hour fast now to get my bloodwork done, hopefully my cholestoral and all that will look good.  I was kinda borderline last May when we did tests at my dh’s healthfair.  I’m hoping the exercise has brought it down.  So it’s been a challenge staying up, Brothers and Sisters are on tonight, without having tea…or anything else.  Sometimes I wish I had tivo or something but then I know I’d never go back and watch it.  Okay, I’ll wrap it up here’s my stats for the weekend

I feel like I only blog to bitch and moan I swear.  So my body completely revolted from the 5k, the groin muscle, joint, whatever it is was definitely sore Thursday, so much I didn’t want to raise it to put on the parking break.  So I took yesterday and today off from running.  Today it is much better thankfully.  Hopefully tomorrow I can do an easy jog.  I’ve been a bit stressed, don’t know if it’s cause I’m not running it off or something else.  DH is in a grumpy stressed out mood so I don’t know if it’s him or if he’s just not helping.  He has is 1/2 marathon this weekend, I wish we didn’t have to all go but we’re spending the night in a hotel near the race tomorrow cause it’s early on Sunday.  Plus they only give the race packets out on Saturday so we  would have to drive down twice and it’s a good 90 minutes away.  This is one of those times I wish he’d do more on his own but I can’t say a word or I’m not being supportive.  Jeez I bet most guys would love it if their wives said go out on your own for the weekend!  Okay, enough.  One really cool thing that happened this week is I got another mom at the school doing the C25K.  She was commenting on how I looked good and wanted to know what I was doing.  Then she asked for more info so I sent her the link and she’s been running the past 2 days! (ironically when I’m insured)  Kind of cool to have motivated someone else.  Okay I’ll end on that good note.  I have yet another whirlwind weekend ahead of me, I hope everyone has a good weekend :)

There’s Good News and Bad News

Okay, the bad news first, I slipped and got my starbucks today.  Grrrr….I am so WEAK!  the good news, I probably burned off the 230 calories during my run.  Waited til the evening to do my run with DH and instead of doing some “hill work” as he calls it we stretched my regular loop making the run a 5K - and I made it!  Time was  36:24.  Boy my legs were sore afterwards.  Anyways  I haven’t much time to keep up with the blogging, kids are busy and works been okay - lots of changing things around so I just don’t feel like I know what I’m supposed to be doing now.  It’ll work out I know.  Cooler weather promised for the rest of the week - hurray for the small things in life :)

Soon I have to run to the grocery store and they have a SB Kiosk.  I have avoided StarBucks today, came straight home from drop off and did my run (loop plus gate) I can’t really time myself but it felt like a good pace.  Anyways, this grocery store run has me a bit concerned though.  I can do it, I can DO IT!  Crap, I’m really not sure.

I had a good run this morning with the loop plus up to the gate so a full 2 miles.  Saw a mom I know on the trail, you could tell she was surprised to see me and she was cheering me on - felt good :)  This would’ve been my time to run into SB before work but I’m here instead.  Anyways need to go just wanted to log my running.
