Wt & Measures
Weight history : My top weight was 250. In 2000 I realized it was never going to be easy to lose weight, and I just started dieting and exercise amidst my life because I needed a change. I briefly touched 167 (well, I was 164 on ONE weigh in but I don’t count it). My weight stabilized around 185 from 2002 - 2007 (with about a 10 pound variation on each side). This weight loss qualified me for the National Weight Control Registry, which I’ve been a member of for over 5 years.
Current Weight Situation : After successfully maintaining around 185 for years (including my wedding) I have ballooned up by 30 pounds since Summer 2007. I hit my recent-high weight in April 2008 at 215 pounds. In Oct 2007 I thought my high weight would be 202 and I was horrified to be over 200lbs again for the first time in years, but in the first few months of 2008 I gained ANOTHER 15 pounds and now getting to 200 is a goal that will take effort. Sick as I am about it, that’s my reality so I need to deal with it.
My first major goal is then is to get to Onederland.
After that my next major goal will be to get back to my wedding weight of 183. Then the goal is to get out of the “obese” BMI category. Most of my goals focus more on size than on weight, since my ultimate goal is not in pounds, but rather in sizes. My goal is to wear a French size 42. That would put me in the not-top size in any store, giving me loads of shopping choices and a body that is considered normal in this society.
I have currently set my ticker to a goal of 185 to re-reach my previous “stable” weight. I’d actually like to get down to around 150, but since 185 is already very far away I’ll just stick with that for now.
My mini-goals (and date attained) - I’ll probably add more weight ones as I go:
- 195 First 10 pounds lost :
- < 200 - Return to Onederland :
- Back to 195 (old high weight) :
- Fit into my size 16 jeans :
- 183 wedding weight :
- Fit into 3 suits that are at the back of the closet :
- 177 -”Overweight” - no longer Obese :
- Fit into my supercool green corduroy cargo pants :
- Try on clothes in stores and be comfortably size 46 (French) :
- Fit into fabulous black skirt that I bought tight and never wore :
- 167 - return to Lowest Adult Weight :
- Fit into the slinky lingerie that I bought as “inspiration” but haven’t made it into yet…
- Try on clothes in stores and be comfortably size 44 (French) :

WAIST TRACKING
I decided to track my waist instead of my weight for a while, in part to take some stress off the scale, in part to focus on what really matters to me — getting smaller. I am actually measuring three places on my belly - the upper belly, waist itself and the lower belly.
Starting point June 30, 2008
- Upper belly : 102 cm
- Waist : 99.5 cm
- Lower belly : 120 cm
The ticker is from the biggest of the bunch (lower belly). Definite “Apple” shape here!
