February eve…
General January 31st, 2008I am glad the end of the month of January has come, I always like the beginning of a new month, it feels like a new opportunity.
In February I’m going to do some of the thinking involved in the WHYs of losing weight - what are my motivations, goals, and the HOWs - what I’m willing to do in the context of low-stress weight loss.
Stress on the job front is increasing, I’m not going to also increase it with my weight. My husband is having surgery towards the end of February, that will also add to general stress.
What I am clear on is that just being at this weight is stressful to me. This is not a weight at which I can hover without guilt and self-reproach.

Good luck with everything. And if you feel the temptation to eat something fatty, don’t ignore it. Resisting will only add to your stress.

Yeas a new month how wonderful - like a new start. Good luck with your February goals.

I was just thinking this morning how glad I am that it’s almost February. A new month, a new start, and one month less of winter!

I am always happy to see the end of Jan as usually this last week (and the start of Feb) are the coldest days of our year. It was bitter yesterday. Temps are not bad but we are getting vengeful winds!
At least spring is down the road, if not on our doorstep!

January is a b*tch to get over for those trying to lose weight. So, ahead is spring , very soon, and I bet your motivation will go up a few notches.
I’ve also gotten to the realization point that Being Fat is more stressful across the board, than working on losing weight. Soon all factors will just click, and you’ll be resolved in whatever method you choose.
Enjoy today, the closure of the hardest fattest winter months…

I’m doing the same - trying to plan some goals for Feb. Making sure they are ones I can meet. I think it’s a good thing to do.

I’m sorry that you have so many stressful situations. Stress is evil - I hope you find a healthy outlet for it. I understand what you mean about being at a stressful weight - I think we all have a “comfort zone.” With your great attitude - you will make it to your zone.

I liek February. Sometimes I feel like January is only like a play month, or a test run. If weightloss efforts continue into February, I feel like the Holidays and all their temptations have finally fallen away, and that downward spiral has lost its grip.

I agree - a new month is like a clean slate! Sometimes when there is a lot of stress in my life - I like to just focus on maintaining what I have lost so far (instead of focusing on losing).

I’m am soooo glad that January is on it’s way out the door. I declare that it had 62 days instead of 31!

You said it so well…being this weight is filled with guilt and self-reproach.
Good for you for looking at February as a fresh start.
I am nowhere near feeling good about what I have been eating and thinking about my weight lately.
Perhaps I, too, will try to look at this as a new beginning (starting Saturday when I get weighed in…)
Be well..

Good luck with figuring out how to keep losing weight while straying away from stress. I know it can be difficult not to eat a lot while stressed out. February is coming up (just around the corner) and you’ll feel new in no time. Spring is coming!

I’m with you on being happy about the beginning of a new month. I am trying to salvage some of my goals, and it seems a lighter task from the perspective of February 1 than it did on January 15.
Take Care! RubyJean

I agree with you, I love the beginning of new months. I feel like I can start all over again with new enthusiasm that maybe I didn’t have as much of at the end of January. Time to make my February goals! Good luck with figuring out the WHYs and the HOWs, I hope you find out everything you need to help yourself lose weight the low stress way.
And good luck to your husband, he will be in my thoughts throughout the end of February.
