Walking again
Exercise January 27th, 2008I’ve gotten my act together and walked both days this weekend, which is something I *should* do every weekend, but somehow I often don’t. I also managed to walk for 30 min one day during the week, so for the first time in ages I actually met my exercise goal this week.
I started a new audiobook today too. My rule with the audiobooks is to ONLY listen to them when I walk - so on the metro and at other times I listen to my iPod it’s music or podcasts, but to move on with the story, I must move my body…
It was really nice today - sunny, warm-ish (around 50 F) and I even saw signs of Spring - little crocuses popping up in the park, showing their bright yellow sparkle against grass which is turning downright green! I LOVE Spring! Last night’s walk was also a mission to find Mexican products here in Paris. I walked to 3 addresses I’d found on the web, only one of which was valid. I bought chipolte peppers and jalepeno peppers and also some mole sauce. I just couldn’t bring myself to pay 7.50 euros (about $10) for a large can of refried beans… I am frustrated because I can’t find dried pinto beans here ANYWHERE, and the rumors that I’ll be able to find black beans aren’t looking too good either. So I’m mixing my exercise and my quest together for a series of excursions to some exotic food markets hoping to track down the suckers to have a steady supply for the future. For short-term, I have a friend visiting in February, and my brother in April, and both of them will bring me the stuff I ask for, but long-term I’d like to find a local source. The walks are also a fun way to combine exploring the city with exercise, and since I’m really determined to find these things, gives me something to look forward to…

Congrats on meeting your exercise goal !!! Love your idea about audio-books - a good motivational tool. Good luck with your Mexican mission

Walking in Paris must be wonderful!!!
I love listening to books and it really makes the time fly, not to mention you look forward to the next session. And having a mission and a great place to walk helps too! Sounds like fun!

Oh man, no Mexican food? I could not imagine such a world. But I will definitely try the audiobook idea- might give me a good creative kickstart for my book.

I went for a walk today and yesterday as well! There was no way I’d pass on the (somewhat) sunny weather, and today was quite mild on top of it. It was a much-appreciated break in-between doing homework.

Great job on the exercise and love the audio book idea. I love to read so much but don’t have the time so combining some I don’t like (exercise) with something I love (books) sounds fantastic. Although I would love to walk around and explore another country, sounds like fun.

That’s weird, because it’s 50 degrees here too. I didn’t know Paris stayed that warm in the winter! But I suppose, since Nice does have palm trees. A part of France is somewhat warm, at least!
As far as the dress goes… yes, it was /very/ Jessica Rabbit. I have nothing against Jessica Rabbit, but I don’t want to look like her! Thanks for pointing that out.

I wish I could send you some beans…I love them. I am happy with my fat free refried beans with .50 in the States.
Surely you will track something similar. I like the idea of challenging yourself with exercise more. Have a great week!

Cheers!

How fun! I have been to Paris a couple of times and my only regret is that I wasn’t there longer. How fun it must be to explore that city.
Thanks for the comments. I’m ashamed that I feel guilty for dipping into my flex points, but you are right, they are there to be eaten. I will get over it one day soon, I hope.
Hope you get more lovely walks in this week.
Have a good day!

Wow, Spring already? I want to live in France!! And those are some expensive refried beans, jeez! I wouldn’t have paid that much either. Unless they danced and performed as well. And congrats on meeting your exercise goals this week! You should be proud!

I would die if I didn’t have my beans and mexican food. I am sorry that they are in short supply where you are. That would bite!
Congrats on the walking! Sounds wonderful. I have to treadmill because it is raining cats and dogs in California!
hugs!

Good job on the walking. I too am planning to walk a little beyond the walking in gym. Which I am missing now for quite some time. Also I am planning to do my Sunday grocery shopping by walking around.
Lots of love,
iniya

Congrats on the walking!! Now I feel ashamed for complaning that there isn’t any good Mexican food in Tahoe. Atleast I can buy beans for a dollar!
