From Mushy to Marathon

Time to get fit.

Weird sort of day

Well, I have been sorely tempted today.

I have been working hard all day cleaning up the house for the party tomorrow.  This afternoon my friend was looking after my older girl so baby and I went out to buy the goodies and brought them all home. Didn’t touch a single one though! Then I made the cake. Well, I couldn’t help but to dip in a bit!

I almost blew the whole thing off, but I thought - no! So I had a really low-cal dinner - some tomato soup and a crust of bread and as my friend brought Bethany back just as I was finishing, I never got around to having any coffee with it. Then I was busy bathing the kids and putting little one to bed so when I got around to inputting my vals, I was pleasantly surprised. I guessed I had eaten about 200 cals in cake mix, and two small quares of chocolate, but because I had only had two cups of coffee a day compared to my usual 5 or 6, that shaved quite a lot of cals off. So actually I came out under, so I was able to have some dry cheerios as a snack. And when I weighed myself, I was less than yesterday’s eveing weight.

So despite my piggy day, I might actually see a loss tomorrow.

Yay - hit the mini goal

Well, originally I had wanted to hit 11 stone (154) by the end of April. But March and April turned into plateau months and I lost about a pound over the two months! So I revised it to be the end of May. And I hit it this morning a day early!!

Which is good as I have to bake a cake this afternoon and I find it very hard not to nibble when I’m baking. So tomorrow it’ll probably be up, and then we have the party on Saturday so it’ll be up again! But if I can maintain over the next week I’ll be happy, then we can start in earnest.

According to Nutridiary, if I lose a pound a week I’ll be at 144 by the 8th August, which is a pretty nifty date - 8/8/8. So that’s my next goal. Pre-pg weight by 8/8/8 - it even rhymes. A pound a week is doable, even with the party coming up.

I am frantically running around cleaning the hous. Well, right now I’m not obviously, I’m taking a break and going on the computer, but yesterday was cleaning up the front and back rooms, today is cleaning the kitchen and hall, and tomorrow is hoovering everwhere and preparing the food.

Then my house will be clean and tidy for my guests - yay.

Well, I’m going to crack on with the hall and stairs before Ruby wakes up.

A little bit about me

Weight: 154.1

I started my most recent weight loss journey in December 2007 after the birth of my second child.

In January 2006 I weighed in at a rather hefty 213 lb (that’s 15 st 3lb for us English folk). It was this photo taken at Christmas 2005

that made me realise it was time to do something about it, that and the fact I couldn’t get into my size 18 jeans any more.

So, 1st January saw me started on a new life. By March 2007, I had dropped to 144 lb (10 st 4 lb) and was in size 10 jeans! I hadn’t yet reached my final goal of 135, but I found myself pregnant.

In the first three months I put on 25 lb! The day before I gave birth (Dec 4th 2007) I was 207, and when I came home from hospital I weighed 190.

So, I had to lose it all over again.

As of this morning, a few days off my baby’s 6 month ‘birthday’ - I was 154.1 - a shade over 10 lb to go to get to my pre-pregnancy weight and under 20 lbs to go to get to my ultimate goal.

Those last 9 lbs are going to be the hardest though - they are ‘virgin’ fat - never been lost. Last time I was 135, was on the way up when I was about 10 years old. So I thought I’d start this blog to share the journey of those final 20 lbs.

In an ideal world I’d be there by September, when I go back to school after my Maternity Leave. Realistically I’d like to be there by my birthday on October 28th. It is doable - there are no nasties like Christmas waiting to put a spanner in the works. Not sure I can afford to go on holiday this year, so that’s another temptation out of the way. I do have a party this Saturday, but that’s all.

So watch this space - it’s going to be a fun ride.
