Today’s Totals - Aug 27th, 2008
So, what did I do today? Oh yes, I took a trip out of town to the old city I used to live in (about 30 mins away) to see about getting my winter coat altered. I can likely take in the tops later on that I want to but the coat requires some professional help. My mother was going there anyway so it wasn’t like making a separate trip. She’s going to charge me $15 so I figure it’s worth a shot. I considered just wearing it the way it is, but… she’s taking ~12″ of material out (ie. 3″x2 on each side). So I think it had to be done.
I also went over to the college to get my Student ID. All I can say is “yikes”.
I also picked up my books while I was there, and broke down and bought a recommended calculator for my math class. It had a few more functions than my stats one, just what I need! Came home, had a late lunch and then sat and read on the patio for a little while. Oh, and I trimmed some of the leaves off the big tomato plant hoping that I could get a few to ripen.
And I found a ripe one! Along with a few more that might be ready in a few days. That’s extremely late for here. Usually you’ll see tomatoes at the start of August. The plants have grown beautifully and there are a lot of tomatoes on them, just not ripe ones. It’s just been a weird summer.
I’m not sure what’s on the plan for tomorrow. I’m thinking maybe I’ll do some baking and if it’s not raining (who knows anymore) I’ll work in the garden for a while. I also need to get some kind of log ready for my workout on Friday. I haven’t got a clue about what weights to pick, with them going to higher reps, lower rest and all. Hmmm… I’ll have to think about that. I know I pushed the weights up in Stage 5 since, hell, I only had to lift them 4 times at once. ![]()

I’m so inspired when I read your blog! I went back and read your intro, and now I’m doubly inspired. Sampling bits of posts, I see how much you have accomplished and how much you have learned. Wow. Thanks for posting so man helpful details. Funny, I started in 2004 also but just plain got side-tracked in 2006.

By the way I like your pic. You look nice, capable, friendly, happy… a woman not ensnared by her weight or anything else. =)

TWELVE inches of material! Holy cow!!! Wow, that’s gotta make you feel good!! Wooohoooo!
=D
You always amaze me with how organized you are. I love how you take the time to figure out your calories and %’s of proteins, fats & carbs. Hummm. Is that the secret to your success? Also, your menus look so wholesome and organic. My hat is off to you.
Now me, on the other hand, went out to our raspberry patch to see if anything was going on ~ saw what I first thought were a cluster of berries about to ripen, but it turned out it was a big hunk of cockle burrs. THAT patch has gone to, well, not a good place!
Delita - thanks for the kind words. I suppose I’ve seen worse pictures. I was just thinking I could have been smiling a little bit more.
Eileen - yes, it does make me feel good. It was beyond my capabilities to alter so I’m hoping it’s going to work out.
Susan - I take about 5 minutes most nights planning what I’ll eat the next day. I use a piece of software called FitDay PC which is slightly different from the online version. It works out the calories and percentages for me. When I make a new dish I do take the extra time to either put it in before I make it, or before I divide it up (so I know how many servings to divide it into). I usually start with dinner and then figure out the rest of the meals. I’m to a point now where I can change things around in the middle of the day if I feel like (say) something different for lunch. Probably one of the secrets, if there is any such thing, is the fact that I do a lot of bulk cooking. So I have a number of things to pull from in the freezer. I’m pretty much the same with baking. So at the moment there are a couple of different breads (some sweet, some not), higher protein cake/squares, etc. as well as usually at least 8 or 10 options for dinners (just counted, actually 12, but some double as lunch options). These are things I’ve always done though. The difference now is that they are healthier options and/or smaller portions. At the moment it’s skewed more to things on the barbecue, but later in the fall I’ll likely add a few more ’stew-like’ options.
My little extra freezer has in it: an ice cream cylinder (incase I want to make ice cream), a DiGorno Pizza, Tostidas, and something big in a plastic baggie.
LOL!
I have one of those cylinders as well, but haven’t used it in a long time. For the yogurt sorbet I’ve found they freeze nicely in a tray (stir once or twice). Oh yeah, I add a little bit of liqueur so they don’t freeze solid.
