Today’s Totals - Aug 7th, 2008

What a weird day it was today. I got my first set of cardio done in the morning but pushed off the second one as someone was coming to look at the fan in the furnace (air conditioning at the moment) so I moved the stuff away from the access door, and behind the treadmill. Of course, he didn’t show when he was supposed to. So after lunch I did the second thirty minutes outside. I managed a slow jog around the pool a few times (three rounds x 3 times). I decided that was enough so I slowed down for the rest of the walk.

While I was waiting for the repair guy I decided I should at least make a start at the math prep I have to do for college this fall. I basically have 5 sections that I have to prove 80%+ before the start of classes (early Sept.). When I took the original test I ended up with an average of 75%, so obviously I did very well on the first half. :P I didn’t want to do them too early, but I thought I really should get a start. So sections 6 & 7 are complete… need to do some work on the the next one though. It’s basically Algebra - which I last took about 20-some odd years ago. Oh well, only three more to complete! Since I’m a masochist I will likely go back and do the first 5 just to make sure I’m up to speed.

I can’t say I have DOMS today, but more general soreness. I can’t pin it down to one specific set of muscles… just kind of an all over ache in some spots. Also, being away from the computer (well the internet) most of the day I was surprised at how behind I was tonight. So I read a lot of blogs (very quickly) but didn’t comment much. I suppose this is what my time will be more like in the fall. I’ll have to see what my internet options are at school during the day. Oh, I found something out today that’s new - there’s a fitness center at the college. And use is free. When I first went there the building it’s in didn’t exist. This could be good if I have a schedule with free time in the middle of the day. Of course, since I want the free time I expect I won’t have it.

I don’t hold a lot of hope that there will be much in the way of free weights, however, the gymnasium does seem to have some, so we’ll see. The gym isn’t always available so I’m hoping the fitness center has reasonable options. As long as the enthusiastic staff leaves me alone we’ll probably get along just fine. :D
