Today’s Totals - Aug 6th, 2008

I can’t say that I did much in the afternoon. I did go outside, but I wasn’t really in the mood to trim pots. Mainly because it was really hot out. I don’t think it was a truly hot day but the patio was too hot for bare feet. I did a little watering, but not much needed it. So I just rolled up the pool blanket and spent 90mins floating around in the pool, and hanging over the side finishing my book. I was going to see if we had a raft or something but I never did.

Oh, and I swapped some tomatoes from the garden for some frozen edamame. Okay, I didn’t need to swap it. One of the neighbours and I had been talking about it and she offered me a container so I could try it before I commit to Costco’s 10 or 12 pack. I’m sure I will like it, but I really did want to try it first.

Food for the day:

Total: 2393 (27% fat, 39% carbs, 32% protein)

Breakfast: egg white omelet with cheese, honey oatmeal bread, peach, plums (412)
AM Snack: protein shake, plums (254)
Lunch: whole wheat tortillas, eye of round roast, cheese, peach, plums (517)
PM Snack: hummus, carrots, fruit & nut square (203)
Dinner: chili with cheese, multi-grain tostidos, calico coleslaw (761)
Late Snack: protein shake, peaches (246)

A few garden shots

These were taken this evening before dinner. I didn’t take a decent shot of the other part of the patio and I’ve been told that I need to retake the picture of my mother beside the tomato plant. So I’ll post those at a later date. :)

B1: Dumbbell Single-leg Romanian Deadlift - 25e/4, 25e/4, 25e/4, 27.5e/4
B2: Barbell Bent-over Row - 95t/4, 95t/4, 95t/4, 100t/4
C1: Dumbbell Single-arm Overhead Squat - 25&12/4, 25&12/4, 25&12/4, 30&15/4
C2: Dumbbell Incline Bench Press - 30e/4, 30e/4, 30e/4, 32e/4
D1: Plank - 120sec, 120sec, 120sec, 120sec (all 45-degree)
D2: Reverse Wood Chop (on floor) - 35t/4, 35t/4, 35t/4, 37.5t/4
Bodyweight Matrix (modified): 48 squats, 24 lunges (each leg) - repeated twice

HRM: 95mins, 481 cals, Max: 151 (85%), Avg: 112 (63%)

This was a hard workout (with some of the weights) and an easy workout (lots of rest time). You can see by the average HR that I hit a lot of 80s during those two minutes. I realise that it’s a process though and I’m trying to stick with it as much as possible. I went back to the 45-degree version of the planks for a reason. I only struggle through 60secs by not holding good form. I decided to go back to an easier version (for me) and try and do them using a better form. They were harder than I remember so I suspect I wasn’t doing them well at the time.

Bodyweight matrix will be modified for Stage 5 as there is no chance I’m getting airborne for lunge or squat jumps. I did manage a couple of squat jumps in the last set, however, even if I could do them I’d likely wreck my knees. So at the moment it’s not worth the attempt. I will do them, for fun only, in the pool in the afternoon. The scary thing is that they still hurt a bit when done in the pool.

I think I’ll spend the rest of the day outside, which will make the cats happy. They spent the last 30 minutes of my workout just watching me. Even now I can tell that they’re simply waiting for me to go outside so they can. Oops, one of them must know that I’m talking about them… he’s coming to join me on the desk! I guess I’m not moving fast enough for his taste. :D
