Today’s Totals - July 23rd, 2008

Since it was raining and crappy out I spent the rest of the day cooking sauces and making the fruit & nut bars. I ended up with 12 lots of a curry/tomato sauce for chicken, and although it’s not divided up yet, the same amount of the tomato/veggie/wine sauce. Yes, that’s 24 dinners (with uncooked meat) for two people. Silly me, but I love filling the freezer up with simple to cook stuff. If it pours rain tomorrow I might do a few simple pasta sauces, however, I’d have to either go buy onions or try and talk my mother into it. I suppose it can wait for a bit. :)

Food for the day:

Total: 2403 (23% fat, 37% carbs, 36% protein)

Breakfast: egg white omelet, oat scones, jam, clementines (423)
AM Snack: protein shake with frozen sour cherries (265)
Lunch: tortillas, eye of round, cheese, nectarine, plum (574)
PM Snack: oat scone, cheese spread, fruit & nut bar (315)
Dinner: balsamic pork tenderloin, broccoli, butter, salad w/dressing (516)
Late Snack: berry yogurt sorbet, protein shake (310)

I’ve been following your blog for a while now and I just wanted to say — You eat the most interesting things! I admire and envy the joy you seem to take in trying new recipes (me, I hate all forms of cooking! LOL).

I’m also in awe of your exercise regimen and how you stick to it. I need to follow your example!!

    Hi Anne-

Thanks for the e-mail. I realized I should have put my work e-mail so I could get it - duh.

Those bars and the scones look incredible. I am definitely trying them. I love baked goods, but obviously I have seriously cut them back.

Eileen - thanks, but I do enjoy the cooking. It’s also a way for me to cement new ways of doing things. I don’t really think of anything I make of as diet food. Most of the meals I make I would serve to guests (and have) with maybe the addition of a pasta/rice/potato. I hope that makes it sustainable in the end. The exercise, well, I still push myself at times, mainly on the cardio. I discovered that I love lifting weights so it’s not hard to make myself do that.

Leah - I sent you an email to your work today. For everyone else, I told her that the fruit & nut bar was probably worth playing with the most. My mother has been making the scones for more than 20 years and I’m still not that fond of the originals.

    Susan - thanks :)
