(For those not following along, or visiting for the first time, please note that this is an attempt at a maintenance week. The theory is to let the body reset hormonal levels before putting it back into a deficit. The calorie levels are specifically not weight loss ones.)
I truly got into the concept of rest this afternoon. In the morning I dealt with the garden. The back yard really does take a couple of hours to water and do some trimming up. I definitely think we have too many pots! However it made for a nice two or three hours of wandering around, coming inside for water, back outside, whatever. And I was in the mood for music, so I hooked up the fancy laptop speakers to the iPod and turned the music up. It just felt like a great summer day, which it was. Decided I was in the mood for pizza for lunch so I made some. Very easy when you have the frozen par-baked crusts in the freezer, frozen turkey pepperoni, and canned tomato sauce all on hand though. God bless my compulsive canning/freezing heart!
It was far too hot to finish up the pots that I didn’t finish this morning (they were on the sunny side of the patio) so around 3 I changed into my swimsuit and headed out to the pool. I spent the next three hours do a combination of swimming, reading, drinking (only 1 with alcohol), snacking and even pulled out the lounger and lay down on it for a while. I even rigged up a piece of towel over the sliding door so the cats could join me without the flies coming in (little one hates it when the door is shut and he’s outside). Oh, they can still get in, but only a small obvious gap at the bottom, so there are less. We’re actually quite good here, with few flies. However it’s nice to have an evening where the cats aren’t doing their best to kill the few that got in. Little one (Shadow) is actually pretty good at it. ![]()

This sounds like such a nice relaxing day! I’m actually looking forward to getting home and being able to work in the garden and float around in the pool for a few days before I have to go back to work.
Those cherries sounded so good I had to go buy some. Got them at Walmart and I’m SURE they’re not as good as the ones you got but they’re not bad! I’m munching on them right now.
Ones that you’ve grown always seem to taste better. If for no other reason than I triumphed over the birds and squirrels and managed to pick ripe ones this year.
I’m so glad I spent the time out yesterday. It’s been pouring rain since 7 or 8am (9:30 now) and I think that’s going to be our day today. So it’s errands for me!
