Today’s Totals - July 9th, 2008

(For those not following along, or visiting for the first time, please note that this is an attempt at a maintenance week.  The theory is to let the body reset hormonal levels before putting it back into a deficit.  The calorie levels are specifically not weight loss ones.)

Well, it never did storm last night. Somehow I knew that when I was picking the cherries. Doesn’t matter though, it had to be done, although I would have probably waited until tomorrow. So today I pruned the two beautiful full trees back severely. I suspect I’ve likely blown any chance of cherries next year but it was necessary. I called the cherry orchard and they won’t be picking until next week. Too bad really as I hoped to get the canning done this week but I’ll just have to work it in next week.

Spent the rest of the day just messing around. Mainly watering, walking about the yard, pruning the other trees, swimming, playing on the computer. I am limiting my time on it but what I’ll do is work outside until I’m too hot, come downstairs for some water and hop onto the computer for a few minutes. Then I go back outside. I figure at least I’m going up and down the stairs a little in between.

Tonight we went out to dinner at a restaurant my mother was given a gift certificate for. Definitely not one I would have picked (or her really), but the food was pretty good. I had looked at the menu before I left and kind of decided on something but then changed my mind when I was there. So I started with a 1/2 pint of Bass Pale Ale and had the chicken curry (extra spicy). It really wasn’t bad. Just hot enough to break a sweat but well done enough that it didn’t burn your mouth. I restrained myself from drinking the beer faster and having another one.

Then my mother, who rarely eats dessert, decided she was going to have some. I suspect she was concerned that we hadn’t hit the limit on the gift certificate (we had). So, what the hell, I joined her and had a very nice piece of lemon meringue pie. It was truly the only choice I would have made (nothing else appealed). So it was a higher calorie meal than I’d really planned, but I’m full enough that there’s no likelihood I’ll eat anything else tonight.

So today’s totals includes a fair amount of estimation at dinner, and are probably off. On the off chance I want something later I’ll likely just add a protein shake, but I really doubt it.
