Today’s Totals - July 7th, 2008

(For those not following along, or visiting for the first time, please note that this is an attempt at a maintenance week.  The theory is to let the body reset hormonal levels before putting it back into a deficit.  The calorie levels are specifically not weight loss ones.)

Well, day 2 went fairly well. I went outside around 10am this morning and boy was it hot. It was pushing 32C (90F) with a humidex count that was considerably higher. I managed to trim up some of the pots and then decided I really should stop and water. It took well over an hour to water as everything was really dry. I finally gave in about 1pm and came in for an early lunch. After a short break inside though I went out and rolled up the pool blanket and stored it in the shade… and just played in the pool for a couple of hours. It was funny though, the sunny side was okay for a while but still got too hot. So I’d go over to the shady side until I was too cold. I know, what problems to have. :P

Later we had drinks and snacks on the patio, but ended up having dinner inside. The forecast for tomorrow is slightly cooler but possible thunderstorms. :( Oh well, I’m sure I’ll find things to do. Kitty cats need food so I should probably go out and get some (not sure I’m safe if I don’t).

Oh, and I just realised as I was putting my food info in below - picked our first raspberries and boysenberries today as well!

    Oooooo! RASPBERRIES! Love ‘em!

We had a couple of rows planted, but didn’t properly thin them and they ran amok, so husband mowed them all down and we’ll have to start over. I miss them! Our dog misses them too. He used to do a little picking himself, plus follow along behind me for the occasional tossed berry.

I’m very impressed at your continual healthy eating-keep up your good work!

I revamped our patch last year and planted some new canes as well this spring. We’ll get fewer this year because of that, however, that just makes them all the better.

And thanks for the nice comment. I’m not sure what’s clicked this time but it almost seems easy. I think the constantly working on better ways of making my favourite things helps a lot. I’m not really cutting anything out (except the junk which is just bad for me).
