First Day

So all-in-all.. not a bad first day. I was able to stick to the points and even went a little under. Jeremy was stoked because he ate a smore and was still under his points range. He noticed my blog today and decided he might post sometime.. so if you see him.. take a good look because he’s definitely gonna give you an interesting read!

We actually had a good time exercising today. We walked a mile on the track behind our house and enjoyed the nice weather. Jeremy actually went back again for an extra mile!

This is his first time doing weight watchers and he keeps saying.. “I just feel like I missed some points somewhere.. because I didn’t really diet today…” So funny, because weight watchers really does feel like that… because you’re not hungry.

We also made some short-term goals today. Mine were to lose 15 lbs by November 6th, exercise at least 500 minutes (give me a break, I’m in nursing school! haha), and to stay on track during the weekends and try not to drink/munch out. I’ll let him post his goals later. :)

Well, off to study! Thanks for reading!

Kasey

Just a need to get over the hill.

My name is Kasey, and I started Nursing School this fall after two long undergraduate years. I proudly marched down the hill into the school of Nursing building in my pressed white (yes.. white.. they add ten pounds) scrubs on the first day of school, smiling the whole way. Nearly ten exhausting hours later I began to make the trek up the hill to my car. This proved to be much more difficult. Thinking I was just completely exhausted from the long day, I pushed on up the hill and down a few blocks finally making it back to my car huffing and puffing. Nearly drenched in sweat.. I drove home. The next day, I thought nothing of the hill–until the climb back up. It was then that I realized the fit seventeen-year-old varsity volleyball and softball captain was buried beneath all the weight I had gained. My mom says I just let the”freshman fifteen” get a hold of me… more like the freshman one hundred… but then again, it’s her job to make me feel better!

My senior-freshman year I followed Weight-Watchers to my lowest weight as an adult. That winter (because I looked hot I guess) I starting dating this cute guy named Jeremy. Well, needless to say, that was the last thing I needed. It’s not right to blame my weight gain all on him, but it’s easy to trace it all to him! (haha) But don’t think I haven’t been a bad influence on Jeremy.. he too has gained around fifty pounds.

Many dinners out, an ACL reconstruction, and hundreds of hormone filled birth control pills later, I sit, the biggest I’ve ever been trying to become a registered nurse. School is hard. Days are long. Stress is high. Sleep hours are few and far between. But this time, I will succeed. I will trek up that hill carrying sixty pounds of books after a twelve hour rotation of MedSurg and feel fine. (Looking good naked would just be a plus! :P ) Jeremy and I have committed to losing our weight together, but I still feel I will need the support of all of you to truly stay on track.

Thank you for reading. I hope I give you guys half the motivation you give to me!
