excuses for not writing

excuse # 1: my mom, step-dad, and I have all been in the E.R. in the last 2 weeks. we are all okay, my reason was simply because the clinic could not see me and waiting another day or two was not a viable option.

as it turns out, i have strep throat. and no insurance, but that’s not news. i had to go back to the doc today as my antibiotics are not working properly. this has been expensive, and i haven’t even gotten the E.R. bill yet!

amidst all this, even with hardly being able to eat solid food, i’ve put on two pounds. i blame it on the sodium-filled soup. my main focus right now is just feeling better.

oh, i was supposed to be in yellowstone this weekend, too!!! that was my second (and original) excuse for not writing.

hope you are all having a better run of it than i am!! be happy and healthy!! i’ll be back there myself, soon.

the scale of doom!

ok, it’s actually the scale of happiness, but that’s not the point. the scale i’ve been using at work is off by about 4 pounds. while my total weight loss remains the same, i actually started out lighter than i though. and, big woo hoo here, i’ve finally hit the 20lb mark!!!

It’s friday, a week from the last time I stepped on the scale. I am down another two pounds, making a total of 16lbs. I am not as pleased as I should be, but my logical self knows that 2lbs is good, and a healthy amount of weight to loose in only one week. So, my note to self: be proud of yourself!! I’ve got another two days off, so here’s to behaving while home alone and off work!

Bright blessings to you all, and remember to be proud of accomplishments even if they seem small.

Floating the River

Yesterday my mom, my friend, and I went floating in inner tubes (sp?) on the river here. We went for about a 5 hour float. It was incredible! The scenery was gorgeous when I wasn’t keeping my eyes glued to the river, looking for rapids, ha ha. And what a work out!! My arms are really feeling it today. And even my abs, from lifting my butt up to avoid rocks! We are going to try to fit in one more float before the season is over. I even dragged my tired self out of bed for my 2 mile walk this morning, sore muscles and all. :-)

I’ve decided to only weigh myself once a week, as I was on the scale way too often. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day! Wish me luck! I’ll update the ticker accordingly.

ever onward

It’s tuesday, finally a day off! I usually have trouble eating right on my days off, but I’ve been good today. And, I finally replaced the exercise ball that mysteriously disappeared from my friend’s garage (where I was storing stuff). And I ordered some fun new work out videos.

I went for my two mile walk this morning, with my mom. She’s my work out buddy. Well, she’s pretty much my everything buddy. We are floating the river tomorrow. It’s a no boys trip, ha ha. I’m no where near wearing a bathing suit, but I have found shorts and a t shirt that will work. It will be my first time floating the river.

For any one who is a fan of the 100 cal. snack packs, the fig newton minis are good!

I’ll update y’all on the dvd’s when I get them.

Now that I’ve figured out how to edit this thing, I guess I’ll start.

I’ve been dieting off and on (mostly on) for a couple months and it’s time to get a little more serious about it. I stopped going on my walks for about a month. Thank goodness I didn’t put any of the weight back on! I also didn’t manage to lose any more, but still… Anyway, I started walking again on monday (2-2 1/2 miles) and have missed two days, but made it out this morning. It feels great to be walking again, and I’m going to increase the distance to 3 miles in the next couple of days.

Well, I’m down 14 lbs as of yesterday. I’m hoping it will be a little less when I stop retaining water. Oh, the joys of being a fertile woman! I’ve also finally started keeping track of my calories.

I’ve got to get ready for work, but I wanted to at least throw a first post up here. :-)
