1st Quarter - Week 6 - Day 4 July 31, 2008

Hey all! Well, its the last day of July! I weighed in at 240 still today but 239 showed up twice!! I’m hoping that I will hit 239 tomorrow, but I probably won’t. My sister had me do some work to for her on the computer, and she repaid me by cooking dinner. I had a 5 oz steak, 1/2 baked potato, and a very small salad. Not too bad…but I did have a little sweet tea :( It was good too!

Total exercise: I slacked big time today…

25 minutes of cardio…thats it!

 Today’s food:

Breakfast - Turkey sausage, bacon, and cheese omlet - 250

Snack - None

Lunch - Chicken sandwich with 1 oz chips - 430

Snack - A pack of blueberry muffins with skim milk - 180

Supper - Small salad - 5 oz steak - 1/2 baked potato - 650

Total calories - 1510

 

1st Quarter - Week 6 - Day 3 July 30, 2008

I have offcially lost 20 pounds as of today! I weighed in at 240 today! So…Yayyyy!

But on a bad note…I have decided that I really don’t think the SBD is for me. I absolutely hate most of the food I’m eating. I’m still going to try to limit bad carbs like chips, cookies, and cakes…..and instead have fruit, whole grains, and try new recipies with lots of veggies. I’m still going to eat chips and 100 calorie packs of cakes and cookies…just not as often as I was….I was eating chips sometimes 2-3 times a day (only 1/2 oz at a time), sometimes also french fries in the same day or some kind of potato, and also in the same day up to two 100 calorie packs. I think its obvious I didn’t ever really hit a plateau cause I lost 20 lbs in a little over a month…..but still….eating like this is gonna catch up with me eventually! I have my August goals posted already, and I look forward posting my July results in a couple of days!!

Today’s exercise:

20 minutes of 30 day shred on level 2

10 minutes of cardio (I was pooped….my daughter didn’t want to let me sleep last night)

3.25 miles walking / eliptical

Food:

Breakfast - 1/8 of spinach quish (that I didn’t eat all of) two bacon wrapped mozz. cheese sticks - 309 calories - 3.22 carbs

Snack - 1 TBSP of peanut butter - 100 calories - 3 carbs

Lunch - Grilled chicken with grilled onions and mushrooms and mozz cheese - 323 calories - 1.5 carbs

Snack - 100 calorie pack of muffins with 1 cup skim milk - 190 calories - 15 carbs

Supper - T-Bone steak!! IT WAS GOOD! (430 calories - 0 carbs)

Total calories - 1452 calories - 32.27 carbs estimate on some

 

~~**Gettin’ Ready for August**~~

I’m starting to set my August goals. I have been through alot already on my journey, but I have also learned alot. I’m optimistic and ready for August….this is going to be a long ride that I’m gonna have to take a month at a time!

August Goals!

1.) First and formost - STOP setting unrealistic goals! I have got to realize that I did NOT gain all this weight in 6 months to a year! So, it may take longer than the 52 weeks I had originally planned to get it off! I have to be at peace with that because if I’m not…I’m gonna keep getting discouraged and quitting! Its okay to splurge…its okay to skip a work out a couple times a month! IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO GIVE UP! So….my REALISTIC goals are below:

Weight goal: to be 10 pounds down and weigh 229 by the end of August (roughly 2.5lbs a week)

Measurement goals:  

Bust: 43 (-2)

Waist: 44.5 (-2.5)

Hips: 50 (-2)

Legs: 26 (-1)

 2.) Workout goals: Mix up routine with different cardio workouts

* 6 days of walking 1 hour (at least 3 miles)

* 7 days a week of 30 day shred on level 2 (at least)

* 4 days a week of cardio 25 minutes per day

*Shooting for at least 75 miles walked during the month of August

 3.) Keep food at 1,500 calories or less and try to eat mainly protein, fiber, and good carbs and limit bad carbs. Drink at least 60 oz of water a day. Post diet and exercise daily on blog

4.) Plan, Plan, Plan….School starts full time the last week of August. So, it is going to be important that I start planning now and being able to stick to that plan will be even more important. This will include time to get up, when to work out, when to clean/organize things, and when to go to sleep (and whatever else I can think of).

5.) GET ENOUGH SLEEP! I understand that there will be nights McKenzie will hender this…LOL bless her heart…but going to bed at 10 or 11  isn’t cutting it! I want to be in bed no later than 9:30pm!

6.) Balanced life - The main area I would like to work on is money management! I stuck with this last month, but this month its time to get serious! I also would like to stick with my house cleaning routine!

7.) I want to do something to reward myself for my hard work! So, once a week (if I met all my work out / food / etc. requirements) I am going to do something to reward / pamper myself…..so get my haircut and eyebrows waxed, give myself a home facial or manicure or pedicure, or maybe a pair of earrings or shoes or something I find on sale.

8.) DON’T GIVE UP! this is gonna be my motto this month. I just have to remember that I didn’t gain it over night and I’m not gonna lose it over night…but I have already come so far! 20 lbs down is great….and I’m not looking to quit and gain it back…I’m looking to lose more…so even if I only lose 5 lbs this month…fine its a loss! 5 lbs a month for 10 months is 50 lbs which would put me at 190! OUT OF THE 200’s!! :D But if I get discouraged and quit I’m 100% gonna gain that 20 lbs back….I would rather be 190 in 10 months than 260 for sure!!!! I gotta remember that!

 9.) STOP LIVING YOUR LIFE BY THE SCALE! Weighing everyday does have its benefits. I can see where my hard work has gotten me, or I can see if I need to tweak my plan a little. However, I should really stop focusing on weight. I mean…..YES…. I want to lose weight. I want to be skinny. I want to wear cute small clothes! BUT….more importantly I want to develop good habits with food and exercise choices on a consistant basis. I don’t want my daughter to grow up thinking she needs to weigh herself everyday. So, I’m going to strive to weigh myself on Sundays. I’m not saying I will never have a cheat weigh in….but I really want to try to do the once a week thing. I think it will keep me honest on my diet/exercise…..because if I’m doing really good on the weight sometimes I cheat a little…..LOL……if I don’t know I will have to do good and keep doing good….because I will know there is a weigh in coming up.

 

1st Quarter - Week 6 - Day 2 July 29, 2008

Today was sooooo much better than yesterday! The food was better, and I’m already seeing the results of the lower carb!! I weighed in at 241 today! That was my goal weight for July!! So, I made it! I started out at 255 this month! I have lost 14 pounds and could lose one more by the end of the month!!! Still got a slight headache due to the lower carbs, but its okay….I will get through it! I’m going to go to the 3 fat chicks forum and go to the thread for the South Beach Diet and try to find some recipies for snacks….I don’t have very many ideas!

Today’s exercise:

25 minutes aerobic kickboxing

20 minutes 30 day shred level 2

3.1 miles walking

Todays food:

Breakfast: Two eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, 1 piece of turkey sausage - 290 calories - 2.5 carbs

Snack: 1 TBSP of peanut butter - 90 calories - 2 carbs

Lunch: Salad with SBD ranch dressing - 284 calories - 10.5 carbs

Snack: 1 oz of peanuts - 170 calories - 3 carbs

Supper: Grilled chicken breast, squash, and black eyed peas - 310 calories - 15 carbs

Total calories 1124 - Total carbs 33.7

 I still didn’t have enough calories in today so I had a cup of skim milk….I hear milk is good for a diet anyways so…this added 90 calories!

Total calories 1214 total carbs 46.7 (dang milk has a lot of carbs! But it is on the phase 1 food list so I can have it!)

 

1st Quarter - Week 6 - Day 1

Well…week 6 is officially under way! I started my South Beach Diet today. I’m so confused….I’m used to doing the Adkins diet and the first 2 weeks you can only have 20 net carbs a day! I couldn’t find out alot of info on the SBD so I figured I would shoot for the 20 a day….I bought foods that you can eat for SBD phase 1….but those foods actually have alot of carbs in them???? I mean they are good carbs ….I don’t know…I’m gonna try to find more info cause I don’t think you can only have 20 a day with SBD…I think you can have more. I can tell I’m doing something right though……I’ve already gotten my carb. withdrawl headache…LOL!!!

 I think this is going to be harder than I thought….the SBD….I wasn’t very satisfied with my food today…..I was hungry alot….I just didn’t feel satisfied?? Oh well….I will keep trying!

 Today’s activity:

30 minutes TBL cardio maxx

20 minutes 30 day shred on level 2

Today’s food:

Breakfast - 1/8 of a Cheesy spinach quiche that I made (194 calories 3.22 carbs)

Snack - celery sticks with peanut butter (yuck! I hate celery unless its cooked 100 cal. 5 carbs)

Lunch - Tuna salad (lettuce, tuna, mayo, pickles, onions) - 322 cal 11.7 carbs

Snack - 2 mozz cheese sticks with turkey - 200 cals - 2 carbs

Supper - Kraut and polish turkey sausage, okra, and white beans - 230 cal - 15 carbs

Total calories 1066 total carbs 36.92

I freaked out cause my calories were way to low….no wonder I was hungry all day!!! So to boost up my calories I had a small cup of choc. milk and a spoon full of peanut butter….(skim milk) not sure about the carbs but I’m sure it added at least 400 calories (hopefully) for a total of 1466 calories!

 

1st Quarter - Week 5 - Day 7 July 27, 2008

Ahhhh …I’m glad this week is over! I started the week confident and at 243. I’m ending the week at 245. That’s right…I’ve gained 2 pounds!!!! I am okay with it though….I haven’t eaten right or exercised since last Tuesday. So….5 days of cheesy poofs, chinese, mac and cheese, candy bars and tons of other yummy stuff….not to mention the Dr. Pepper…ohhhh the Dr. Pepper…LOL…I think I can handle 2 lbs considering! But I’m done with my “major test” so the stress is gone! Monday (tomorrow) I’m starting the South Beach Diet. Its kind of like the Adkins Diet except it isn’t as extreme…the first two weeks are very similar to the Adkins Diet….you have very few carbs at all….you mainly eat meat, cheese, and veggies…then after two weeks….your body’s stores of carbs should be depleated and started pulling fat for fuel….this two weeks is also supposed to help cure cravings for bad carbs…then after two weeks you start adding carbs back…only choosing healthy carbs such as whole wheat pastas and breads, sweet potatoes and such…..and not chips, cookies, candy, cakes, etc…..so goodbye to the 100 calorie packs for now! But this is going to help me learn how to eat healthier! So…I’m looking forward to it!

By the way my goal for July was 241…so I’m still shooting for that goal! I only have 4 lbs to go! I can do it!

1st Quarter - Week 5 - Day 2 July 22, 2008

Stupid hot weather! I hate going to the gym!!!!! HATE IT! It is so boring, and there are always tons of guys. Tonight there was this girl in there. Probably in her late 20’s early 30’s and she was soooo teeeney. I was thinking…what the crap is she working out for. If the wind were to blow, it would blow here away! I know I’m just jealous cause I want to look like her! LOL!! I want to look just like that! :D Oh well, I weighed in at 243 again today. It seems like one week I lose 5-6 pounds and one week I lose 1-2 pounds and they just go back and forth! Well…..I guess a loss is a loss right? I didn’t gain it all in a day, a month, or even a year….so it is going to take just as long to lose it.

 Today’s exercise:

25 minutes of Tae Bo

20 minutes of 30 day shred on level 2 (yay! It kicked my butt ….but yayyy!)

Food:

Breakfast: Turkey Sausage, egg, and cheese muffin (260)

Snack: 1/2 cup chocolate Milk (I was craving it) - (90)

Lunch: Cheeseburger and 3/4 oz of chips - (410)

Snack: choc. chip granola bar and 3 peanut butter and crackers (200)

Supper: Grilled chicken, corn on the cob, black eyed peas, 100 calorie pack cookies (375)

Snack: popsicle (30)

Total calories: 1,365

 

1st Quarter - Week 5 - Day 1 July 21, 2008

So I weighed in again today at 253. Thats cool….that was my goal for today! So, not much to report for today. I have alot of homework to get done so I can study for my BIG test that is Saturday. I have my Principles of Learning and Teaching certification test Saturday…I have to score a 156 to be able to get certified to teach in Tennessee. I haven’t studied at all! So I gotta go cram…LOL

Todays activity:

Breakfast - BLT with 1/2 oz chips - 255

1st Quarter - Week 4 - Day 7 July 20, 2008

Yayyyy!!! Week 4 is over and done!! Whoot Whoot!! I can really tell that my good choices are starting to become a habit! Tonight I had to go to one of my neices birthday parties. I thought they were serving spaghetti, but it turns out they had cheeseburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans, choc. cake with butter cream icing, and ice cream….sounds yummy doesn’t it…..Well it doesn’t to me…it sounds yucky and fattening. So, rather than let the occasion spoil by good work thus far…..I made my own dinner and took it with me…LOL!!! I had grilled turkey chops (tastes exactly like pork chops but less fat!), baked okra, and 1/2 corn on the cob….and when everyone had cake….I had some too! Only I brought a pack of 100 calorie pack chocolate cupcakes with chocoate icing and cream filling! After the party, I went to the gym and did my 3.1 miles even though it was getting late. That’s right boys and girls. You won’t find any excuses here! I’m DONE with being a fat girl! By the way….I still weighed in at 242….that means I only have to lose one more pound to reach my July goal. I started July at 255. I wanted to lose 14 pounds which would put me at 241, so if I hit my goal of 241 soon I will change my goal to 238 which will be 17 lbs in July.

Well….here’s to a good week 5!! :D
