I Ran 8.5 Miles Today!!!

I did it and I can hardly believe it. 8.5 Miles and what rush!!! I felt great at mile 5 though I was starting to feel it good at that point I knew I could do 6. Then I thought “jeeze why not see if i can push through to 7 just for the hell of it”. Good to push, right? At least try! Wow, was I surprised how easily I polished off mile 7. It was like I’d gotten another surge of energy in my legs and they felt less tired as I went. Normally I use several landmarks I have picked out that mark my miles and half miles, but today I changed course just shy of several of these and wasn’t exactly sure of my mileage so I ran what I thought was just over 8 miles. Didn’t want to find out after that I did 7.9…Oh I was having that 8. It was going to happen! I finished what I thought was my 8 miles, in a gleeful stupor  I stretched out and jumped right on my bike to do the course I’d just ran as a cool down ride and to verify my mileage. 8 with an extra half!!!! My God I’m an athlete! Now everybody I see I have to tell them. LOLOL I’m sure there’s a few people here that think I’m off my rocker. Good!!! Unless you’ve made a decent effort to try running then you can’t appreciate how challenging it actually is and all that it takes to build up enough stamina to put a few miles under your belt. I was amazed myself after years of biking and aerobics at how running put me in my place right away. I was too stubborn to quit, cause that’s the way I am, and possibly I got a tiny bit of addicted to it right from the start. Even now I head out for a run and I haven’t a clue as to how far I’ll be able to go. I may feel great and be sunk after 2 miles, or I may think “3 miles if I’m lucky” and lo and behold I get 8.5 frigging miles!!!

My knee feels great! What a relief! I tell ya’s I’m starting to think they’re full of shit when I hear someone say, “Oh, running is hard on your knees”. Oh yeah? Well sitting on your ass on the couch chowing and gobbley gutting is harder on a lot more than just your knees!

8.5miles and running strong!

Foggy Sunday.

Great for running. This chick got up and slammed down a coffee, chowed down a yogurt, cereal, skim milk and some water.

This chick ran 6.5 miles!!! This chick biked 9 miles after!!! This chick is pooped!!!

After my run/ride I ate a bowl of cereal, two pcs. bacon and chugged water till I sloshed.

Here’s my lunch, just cause I don’t have to log :)

Sweet potato with margarine, squash, peas and canned salmon. Something about canned salmon and canned peas, weird but I love ‘em together.

Now it’s nap time!

Quick update before I go biking: I ran 6 miles this morning! Feet felt stiff and heavy at first, but that worked its self out after a couple of miles. I thought I wanted to stop a couple of times and I’m glad I didn’t cause that went away, too! I kept telling myself “as long as there’s no physical pain just shut up and run” :D

I’ve been putting some very serious thought into a strategy plan for the next 30 days. For awhile now I’ve been gobbling up weight loss shows like ‘Biggest Loser’ and ‘Last 10 lbs. Bootcamp’. Last 10 Pounds is how it sounds and is accomplished over a period of 4 weeks. Ring any bells? So, I’m thinking that since I have way more than 10 to lose, it should come a little easier…hopefully. Knock on wood. Now, they keep their food really clean, no surprise there. Salads, veggies, lean protein, whole grains- limited portions and keeping them low cal as possible. NO bagels-NO cheese-NO to anything that’ll screw with that 10 pounds!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah I know all of this already, yet I also am big enough to admit to myself there’s a few holes in my chow department that could use patching. Just enough holes to keep me from losing more than a pound a week. And I’m finding this slow rate of loss is getting a little long in the tooth, dammit! I’ve also picked up on the fact that there’s a lot of emphasis on ‘core work’ in these types of programs. Some of my more recent Cathe Friedrich w/o videos have core and plank moves that destroy me. So deceiving!!! how simple this stuff looks…wrong! I’m going to go through them today and pick out some that I hope will enhance my weight loss over the next month. Will be good for me to get back into the w/o room on a regular basis, usually that’s more of a winter thing for me.

Went shopping yesterday and have so many veggies! I luvs it. Today I’m going to cut up a bunch and keep a veggie tray on the go at all times. Most of my protein will come from chicken and fish along with dairy. No cheese though!

I’m going to keep my running at three times per week as part of my cardio. Cycling and w/o videos will make up the rest. Strength training and core work x3 weekly min. 45 minutes. And anything else is gravy!

Only one problem I’m looking at. Starting today. This afternoon to be exact. Yup…it’s that time of the month!!!…PERIWINKLE TIDES ARE BACK ON! Ha Ha Ha! One week of core work from hell, slipping and crawling over those sea weedy rocks, who wants in? I’ll try and use this to my advantage and lose pounds instead of thinking “Oh I work so hard, where’s the chow? I’m starved right to death” LOL did I mention we have a forecast of rain followed by more rain, and then showers and more rain, for the next week? Should make it perfectly miserable! Just perfect…

I’m off for a run now…looks like more rain!
