Thankzalot…

For the very helpful and the “ha ha” comments on my running shoe dilemma.  As for my fav. things, I’m announcing to one and all that I despise running socks and am currently in the process of buying them all up so no one else will have the misfortune of accidentally acquiring a pair and having to suffer through wearing them and despising them as much as I. :)  Pahleeze folks, no need to thank me. I’m naturally unselfish and thoughtful that way. Character flaws I’ve had to learn to live with…another is modesty. Oh the struggles!

O-kay, I’m making myself gag here.  Packed up and ready to roll. Need a good nights sleep. Been running around all day long and I’m not sure which ends up anymore. Ti-freaking-ered!  See ya’s in September! I know I know  OMGalmighty September is that close!!!  Slow down would ya Time.

Quote of the Week: “Impossible is nothing” - Adidas

Got 4 very slow miles in tonight. Logged it on “Lazy Man” Gotta try and keep up with that tiny2b!

I’m wondering if my runners are the root of the piss poor attitude my legs have been giving me lately. My runner of choice from the get go has been Adidas Supernova Cushion because of their great cushioning for my ‘great’ weight! This latest version is not as comfy. I think they are making their runners so light now that they’ve sacrificed my cushions! There’s no darned need of it! I feel like every time I find a product I really rave about they go and stop making it or they change it and ruin it. It happened to my spongy mesh shower thing, my fav. hair conditioner, my coffee, peppermint foot cream, chocolate cherry yogurt, w/o shorts, planters paper and there’s more…but it depresses me “a few of my favorite things” gone forever or effed up for good!
Oh…running…back to that… I’m feeling the pavement more with these runners and this could be why my legs are tiring out fairly quick. Normally during a run there are periods where I think ” Oh this is getting tough” and in no time it ‘ll get easier again. Not anymore. Even the first mile was hellish to try and get through. What bugs me is that I was finally doing so well with my running getting up to 6, 7 and 8 miles. What a bummer. My memory sucks so much that I can’t be sure that this problem began to when I bought these runners, but seems it was awful handy to that time. I dunno! Think I’ll take a detour to the running shop while we’re away. I want a lot of damned cushioning! Is that to much to ask for? Huh, you shoe builders out there? Any suggestions for brands to try esp. with buckets of cushioning, would be appreciated! So so soooooo much.

Packing up tomorrow and heading out Tuesday for the campground! I’ll have to log a few biking miles before I go. I hope I don’t eat too much crap while I’m gone. I always get the munchies horrible when I drink and it ain’t looking good for ‘not’ having a snort or two out of the old vodka bottle. Uh Ohhhh!

I’m signed up!

Thanks to tiny2b I’ve committed myself to the Lazy man triathlon ! I love the ring of “lazy” anything, so lazy bones is in! Well that IS EXACTLY what I’ve been lately! For the swim part I will have to double up on something else. The only place I have here to swim is our bone aching cold Bay of Fundy water. Now even if I’m lucky enough to find a rare “warm” spot, as in not cold enough for hypothermia to set in immediately, I’d still have no idea how to figure the distance. Hmmm but on the other hand, gee…ya’s know me well enough by now to know I see obstacles as challenges. Holy crappies stop me now somebody! Anyways I thought this would be fun and though I’ll lose a week camping I’ll make it up after all I am “Lazy Woman” Duh Dudda Dahhh!

Hope everyones having a good weekend…I should be out for a run right now. It’s a beautiful night. I might step on a toad. Tomorrow I run.

G’nite!

I got the music in me!

I’m here I’m here! I’ve missed ya’s all and didn’t realize till this long, longer than long absence just how much! The bright side is that I’m loaded up with a mind boggling selection of tunes. See, my nephew came home for a visit for a week or so and had a couple of guys here cd collections to rip. The computer he was using was too slow and hinted there would be benefits to my lending him my comp. to speed things up. So away went my computer and my 500 gig external hard drive. He’s brilliant with computers and very particular about the mp3 quality, errors and checksums…what the hell? and something about compression programs and other things of which I am only beginning to understand. HububbaOil!!! God luv him he’s already put his whole collection on my ext. hard drive plus added all of this new and improved stuff…and now it’s full! FULL!!! Holy shit will I live long enough now to go through it all? Now I’m concerned I’ll need another ext. hard drive to back up what I have. LOLOL! I’m not a geek (yet!) but I am learning this and installing the programs on my computer to do this myself! Yikes, imagine it, me! My nephew says it’ll make life a lot easier for him if a few of us learn to do this! Guess I’m in!

But now the important things! Diet..what diet? and exercise, check! got that…errr somewhat…See, I need to be here, dammit! Backing up now…I did attempt to time my run (a million years ago now wasn’t it?) I was refreshed, rested and ready to do some major racing. I did the first mile at a 5.5 mph pace yay whoopee for me! Then it all went to hell on me. I developed a side stitch and there was nothing I could do to get rid of it. I’ve never in all of my runs had a side stitch so I believe that’s what it was. Why would I get that? What did I do? Or did I eat something like maybe it was the chicken on white bread sandwich I grabbed in a hunger fit that afternoon when I was over to the other island shopping? I haven’t had white bread in forever. I just couldn’t figure it out. And to top it all off I developed a pain up through my right hamstring which stayed with me for a week. I did try some biking and had to quit. Sheesh…old age is setting in and it’s not funny! :( Good cripes I need to get back on track with everything. I’m not making any more plans to have awesome fitness months or 10 lb monthly goals or any other such shit! It automatically becomes a F%&$ UP MONTH!!! Tahellwithitall!!! She screeches manically and then holding her breath displays a brilliant array of colors. So pretty.

Life is good, Donkey! Me and my guy are headed out camping next week. We always take our bikes and hopefully we’ll have good weather to swim and what not. Hell, I hope we have good enough weather to stay camping. Year before last we cut out after only 3 days it was so cussed darned cold! LOL last year we rented a cottage. Here we go again with the tents. We like to get a spot with electricity and I’m glad we do. Small heater for tent, a coffee maker, blender, power tools…hey, ya just never know, huh?

Tomorrow morning I’m right here with my coffee and catching up! Right now I gotta help his highness pull some coolers and other camping paraphernalia down from the garage ceiling.
Oh it’s great to be checking in!

It moves!!! Margaritaville…Whoa!!!

Quote of the week: “You can only stumble if you’re moving.” ~Roberto Goizueta

Glad that’s over with. I had a great time at our beach fire Sat night. Made up a jug of frozen margaritas to guzzle. Oh don’t ya love that sensation, the old brain freezer. Take too big a gulp and it feels like you just had a ice pick lodged into your noggin! Apparently, after all these years, I’m still a slow learner ! Anyways I wasn’t feeling all that peppy come Sunday morn and that day had to be written off. Shhhhh..and Monday, too! How do people do that every weekend? I tell ya that was enough for me for awhile. Geeze, I got shit to do! Bright side is that me little leggys are the most rested ever and I’m thinking maybe tonight for that “timed run”. I think I’ll go on the treadmill and get sort of a feel for a 5.5 mph pace. Idea: find a tune to keep in my head that I can fit to that pace. Sometimes it’s easier to fit faster steps in between the beats of a slower tune. This will be an experiment that’s for sure. Fun, huh?

Weighed in yesterday and 178 it is. Ahhh no changes! Relief!!! No major damage control to be done here! So far so good. Thank-u-oh-thank-u!!!

more to come…

Must be the air!

I’m relieved to see I’m not alone this weekend. Running has been a little rough on a few of the other gals. My running this morning was…er…well a hellish struggle to get through. I kid you not. I manage to squeeze out 2.5 miles. I quit!!! tried biking and after 2.5 miles…I quit! Effing quit! Running has kicked my A$$ this weekend and there’s nothing to be done except say “EFFIT” getupnow is calling it an “effit” weekend and I’m with her! It’s the perfect Effit Weekend so I’m off to a beach fire tonight. Tomorrow I’ll nurse myself back from tonight with a “hair of the dog” tonic in the form of my boozie iced coffee’s.

 R&R it is!

Here’s what I did today! This is a great w/o video. When I used to do it as a heavier chick I had to modify the cardio parts to low impact. A sweatfest none the less. These days I find I can add a bunch of leaps ‘n hops and it’s all the more fun. Fun? Who said that? Grueling is the word that fits here!
circuit_max2.jpgvhs_circuitmax_pic.jpg
Circuit Max is a 60 minute workout. This workout consists of 6 cycles, each containing 5 minutes of cardiovascular conditioning, immediately followed by 2 minutes of muscular endurance training.
I tell ya even my kneecaps were sweating!
LOLOL! Now how does that sound?

Running Stuff!

Tip of the Week ”…Envision a string at the top of your head pulling you up. Try to run as erect as possible; have gravity work with you not against you. Your head should be held high with your eyes focused down the road ahead of you. Keep your facial muscles relaxed or better yet—smile!”John Stanton’s Running Room’s Book on Running

I tell ya, it takes a lot of willpower and discipline when craving chocolate coated almonds as badly as I did last night to tell myself to go for a run instead.  See I wanted to run because it was a beautiful evening(can’t fuel up on junk) and jeeze I didn’t do a video w/o yesterday.  Sheeeat! Can I make it up? Why the hell not! It’s my darned program… ;)  “…and I’ll cry if I want to”. Ha! Where was I? O-kay,  almonds. I have no such thing in the house and I knew by the time I finished my run the store would be closed and I really wouldn’t want them by that time anyways. I’m in control, I’m strong, I’m an athlete. NOT a chocolate popping, 12 sandwich eating, lying on the coach greasy fingered remote control button pusher! That is NOT me! I am a runner and I ran. LOL that felt good!

I didn’t plan on  any amount of distance and when I started out I knew from how my legs felt that it just wasn’t going to happen That’s fine by me. I had some little pangs of pain here and there, calf, hamstring and behind my bad knee, that I wasn’t sure if they would get worse and I’m happy they didn’t, just came and went. Whew! Relief!

I wanted to time my run. I haven’t done that in a quite a stretch now and I knew that in A-1 shape I had been running 5 mph. I was surprised to find that what felt like I was hobbling along at not much more than a walking pace, or4 mph max. was a great big old “holy sheet” 5mph pace! On  sluggishly tired legs! Now I’m in a big ball and a tangle to get the heck out there with rested legs and see what my pace is at peak performance! I am a machine   Crap, I’ve improved and didn’t know it! YeefreakingHa!

This morning I’ll get a bike ride in and my video. No excuses!

Speaking of knees…

See yesterdays comments! getupnow is starting glucosmine chondroitin for her knees. My problem too if I  over do it biking or climbing those darned beach rocks! Now, bigprof swears by it but her hubby says that’s placebo effect. Men! :)

Well let me tell ya’s that glucosamine chondroitin does work and I have proof! An indisputable test subject. One who was totally unaware she was taking anything at all. One who could not care less about placebo effect unless it ran past her in a little furry coat or was hidden in a chunk of hotdog. “Ally” our old doggie who now spends her days romping in doggy heaven. Her last 3 years she slowed down quite quickly. Our bike rides dwindled to walks and to us having to put a step by the truck for her to get up and down. We knew her old joints were getting sore but the day we came into the yard and she struggled to get up from lying down, well we had to try something. The vet recommended some type of meds for arthritis and I would have gladly paid but wanted to try something natural first. I researched and we started giving her a 900 mg pill twice daily. The 900 mg pill was I believe a 50/50 split of glucosamine&chondroiton . I don’t remember how long it took(couple weeks?) but I remember we were surprised in the change in her as it built up in her system. She was getting up with ease compared to how she was! Of course she was still a retired lady and her little stepbox continued to go with us on drives, but that stuff does work!!! Miss you old gal.XXX!

LOL so big prof tell that to hubby and keep in mind for when your doggy gets up there in years!

Chow for now!

Last night I ran 5.5 miles. Pretty freaking good for tired legs. Did I mention how fast I was? Were? No? I was slooooow! Slow but steady  It was getting dark so I wore my flashing light clipped to my waistband. A cool windy evening along with a few drops of rain made running conditions prefect in my books. Barely a car on the road. An actual bonus of rising gas prices, if you can imagine! I wanted to ride my bike after but had forgotten to install new batteries in the headlight. I can’t believe I let that important project slip right by me. Knock Knock! Hello!!!! needless to say I had me some achy legs for a bit even though I’d s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d so much! They’ll come around eventually…they are my legs and they’ll do as I say! Dammit!

Today I did a bike ride, nothing much, probably 4 miles and that’s fine cause I wanted to baby my knee(it’s my knee and I’ll baby it if I want to! dammit!) for this:
cardio-weights.jpg

60 minutes of Cathe Friedrich’s “cardio and weights” video. And yes my friends these are VHS! I still have my vcr sitting proudly under the dvd player. I will use my most fav. and cherished “kick your puny butt into shape” w/o videos till they fall apart. Slowly I cave and buy some on dvd.

Back to the w/o. Alternating step segments and upper body weights, heavy on the dumbbells naturally, followed by abs work and plank moves. This woman has tough workouts and the body to prove she practices what she preaches…BUFF!

I ate all ‘healthy like’ and drank lots of water. I do have a mission ya know!. Gotta get all obnoxiously healthy and disgustingly good looking! well…as good looking as I can!

That’s a wrap….mmmmm wraps… okay g-night all!
