Goodbye July!

General 3 Comments »

Thought I’d best get myself on here and see this month out! I almost completed my 10 weighted workouts for the last 3 weeks and am thinking of kicking it up a notch for August.
But first things first, this morning I ran 4 miles but it was getting a little hot for my liking…somebody waited too long to go. Not very wise of somebody, was it? Somebody needs to get her shit together and start making her morning exercise the priority, not lazing around ’til it’s too late or too hot or too this or too that!!! But I ran and did weights after. Oh and abs work too! Somebody’s not doing all that bad after all, I guess!

I’ve been  mulling over ideas of what I can do with the month of August. Keeping in mind that we may have a week away some time I’ve decided to challenge myself to another 10 pound goal. It worked for June. July sucked big time, so looks like it’s August or bust!
Another thing that I want is to do a w/o video  daily, that’d be on top of my running, etc.  I’ve realized from the past 3 weeks of doing my own weight routine just what a slacker I’ve been during my work outs. Yes me…a slacker!!! I did a step circuit/weight trn. video yesterday and I’m sore today! I worked harder following that video than I did the whole damned past 3 weeks! Well let me tell you there’ll be no more of that going on around here!

August goals: Lose 10 pounds. Do a workout video daily.

Has any one noticed I haven’t weighed in for the past two weeks? LOL after my KFC chicken run, the booze and what ever else it was that I shoveled into my gob I made an unofficial decision to wait until August 1st…jeeze is that tomorrow? already? I thought “to hell with you July… I’m so over you”!!!  :)  Come on 179.anydamnthing!

Ahh those old Beatles tunes!

No runs to report and no work outs either. Mowed lawns lawns and more lawns after all the rain we had a few days ago. That’s enough leg work for me! This morning I took the ferry over to the big island to get the bbq tank filled. My guy is thawing out some burger and seems how I have a weakness for bbq burgers, okay it’s more than a weakness, it’s more like once I think there’s even a remote possibility that I could be eating a bbq’d burger, then that’s all I think of, so that got me into such a fit of salivating and drooling that I made the run, got the tank filled and oh it’s going to happen people! LOL I won’t even eat a restaurant burger. I’m ready!! Where’s my bib?…I see burgers. I see them everywhere. They don’t know they’re burgers! Ha Ha Ha!

I was pleased to find I’m not the only one dealing with little creatures, dead and/or alive.  Bigprof has a mouse ‘tail’ of her own that’s a good laugh to read!

Also, if any one hasn’t seen getupnow’s before and now photos I tell ya you’ve got to go take a look. You’ll be inspired by them!

I need to go for a run! Thunder boomers in the distance!

…I can wait!!!

Ran 7.5 miles this morning. That’s all I got!

Except… wait a minute…here’s something different. Stinky the cat has decided since we spend so much time together in the garden that it’s the in spot to proudly display her kill. I was reaching down for a lower hanging pea to munch on when I zeroed in on a dead mouse right there at my fingertips! “Jesus H. Christ” came screeching outta my mouth!  (pardon my French) I almost touched it…EWWWW! Jeeze Stinky, can’t ya drop ‘em off on the doorstep like other cats do?

One of my favorite poems. First time I read it was in one of the “Chicken Soup” books. Makes me think of us chicks here plugging away at it day by day, pound by pound never giving up! Guess we know which frog we want to be! Here’s to us and getting out of the darned fat bowl.

Keep Swimming

Two frogs fell into a deep cream bowl.
One was an optimistic soul.
But the other took the gloomy view.
“We’ll drown,” he lamented without much ado.
and with a last despairing cry,
he flung up his legs and said “Goodbye.”

Quote the other frog with a steadfast grin,
“I can’t get out but I won’t give in,
I’ll just swim around till my strength is spent,
then I’ll die the more content.”

Bravely he swam to work his scheme,
and his struggles began to churn the cream.
The more he swam, his legs a flutter,
the more the cream turned into butter.

On top of the butter at last he stopped,
and out of the bowl he gaily hopped.
What is the moral? It’s easily found…
If you can’t hop out, keep swimming around!

Sock it to me!

I love love love my new running socks! Now, I knew I must have made a good purchase when both eryn and bigprof  commented and are so gung ho for them, but I had no idea, not an inkling!!! How have I lived without them? This morning I decided to dig out my new socks and take them for a run.  All I can say is, OMG!!! I ran 5 miles and Oh Wow! Super soft and smooth with an extra stretchy area in the mid foot, but not too stretchy, a just perfectly stretchy kind of stretch.  Didn’t want to take them off, that’s how good they feel! But I did. :)  Now I’m scared to put them in the laundry!  What if one disappears? Socks have a way of doing that, you know! I must stock up…just in case…what if they quit making them?  I can’t think this way…but they’re not just  regular socks, people, dammit they’re “Running Socks”.

Here’s a story for ya’s! I’ve been catching a morning tide the past few days and doing a little periwinkling. Oddballish ‘lower’ low tides for a few days so off I went. Nothing extreme just easy does it periwinkling. Well, yesterday I was taking my winkling duds fromthe washer when I heard something rolling around. Oh no! There in the bottom I saw 2 large periwinkles. I  had washed them. They must have somehow rolled into my pocket when I was sliding down a rock.  I kinda felt sad in a way. These little salt water snails were agitated in soapy water, the daylights spun out of them, rinsed and then the bejesus spun outta them again! What was this? Good heavens! They we’re still alive!!! This morning I took them back to the beach. I set them free to live their care free little sea creature lives unaware of how close they came to the hot water setting!

Quote of the Week: Conditions are never just right. People who delay action until all factors are favorable do nothing.” William Feather

…and right back at it! And oh it hurts so good! Now what was that song?

Last night I went out for a run. 4 miles should help with a little damage control, shouldn’t it? Then I did abs till I wanted to cry…that’ll teach me for porking out! Oh No not quite…the dumbbells… OMG…my muscles were shaking and quivering. Now that was a great w/o!

Off to mow…back later…chow!

In a nutshell…

We had a great time on our 2 days in the city. God, I forgot how tiring it is to wander the stores. I was only into one mall, (which I feel suck suck sucky suck!) thank you Jesus that was enough, and that was to wallow in the most heavenly atmosphere of the ‘Running Room’. Hey bigprof, here’s what I did with my gift card: practical and pretty as in pretty cool…a reflective running jacket in black. These are so popular and come in a variety of colors LOL I almost got a lime green one but the ‘black’ won out! I bought another mesh ball cap, this one in black, and what makes these so cool, besides being mesh, is that they have UV protection, so they claim anyways, so who am I to doubt the Running Room Gods? ;) Oh my…socks! Running socks and do they feel soooo good on my tootsies…oh yeah! I forced myself to stop there as I was over my gift card limit slightly and as you know I’m going to need all of my dough for vehicle shopping this fall. Grrrrr!

Okay, now it’s confession time. Friday’s chow was A-Okay! Saturdays chow pretty well blew a gapping hole in any plans I had made to reach the 170’s today. We were rushing around, missed bfst and naturally were starving come lunch time. Now I need my bfst and bad things can happen when I get hungry…like, I say F***It in a bucket…I’m eating! The bucket was KFC’s greasy chicken which I don’t even care for, but we stopped in so I could pick some up for my Mum who loves the stuff! I ate a chicken crunch sandwich, some fries and diet coke which made it a lot more healthy…right! Had nothing else to eat until we arrived home late Saturday afternoon. Sunny, hot…of course I mixed up a blender or two of frozen margarita’s! Cripes! What the hell? Wicked booze buzz going on and no supper = munchies which = a toasted chicken breast sandwich with marg AND mayo AND a slab of cheese Oh and the all healthy glass of skim milk to top it all off! Last but not least a couple of super sized paw fulls of ‘Cheetos’!!! Why I didn’t puke I’ll never know!

Hey, but I got running duds!

And for eryn, to answer your comment, I drove around and at every half mile I’d pick a landmark I could use to go by. A tree, somebody’s driveway and so on. My bike has a small computer I installed which is quite accurate and as part of my cool down ride after a run I find it handy to use when I don’t run exactly to the half mile points. :) gotta run wild sometimes!

Thank you grabthebull for adding me to your blogroll! Love the new plan and the 10 in 5 weeks mini goal! I hadn’t realized that we both are fighting to get into the 170’s! LOL except for me sliding off the wagon this weekend I’m ready to rock and roll on down through the pounds!
20 + for me, too! And then we’ll see…

That’s that for now!

Thursday’s stuff…

Had a hot one here today, but that darned old fog hung around just off shore taunting us. Mowed two lawns and gave the garden one helluva watering as we are taking off tomorrow bright and early for the city. Jeeze, an over night run! Haven’t been any place since before Christmas and man oh man am I looking forward to a little shopping and eating out, or what!
I have a gift card to use at “The Running Room”  and I’ve drooled and slobbered over it now for too long! What to get..hmmmm?

This evening I went out for a 4 mile run and it didn’t come very easily. Every so often I have a run that I struggle with from start to finish. Should have cut this one off at 3 miles, but old bullheaded here didn’t have the sense to know when to throw in the towel. Now my legs are sore…yes I stretched…and my toe hurts where I must have clipped  the nail too short near the side. It’s my BIG toe and naturally it hurts way more than if it were the baby toe!!!  ;)

Yeah, I know… get over it!

That’s it till Sat. night!

she bikes…she runs…she’s pooped!

Tip of the Week: “…Long-distance runners can improve their speed by shortening their stride length and increasing the leg turnover rate. Keep your leg turnover rate high. The ankle is well designed, and the proper stride length will allow you to use the efficiency of your ankle and save energy in your hamstrings and large muscle groups.” John Stanton, Running Room Book on Running

Went straight out for a run this morning and logged 5.5 miles before the sun managed to burn off the fog! Too hot to trot after that! But, not so hot that I couldn’t ride my bike 11 miles. I feel great and I’m very impressed with myself. I used to do “a” workout, like a long bike ride or w/o video, and along with my regular activities that’d be good for the day. These days I work out or run(sometimes both) and then do a good calorie burning bike ride… maybe it’s the weather, but I want to go go go! Don’t get me wrong though  I still need my naps. Yes, need!!! I sure do…zzzzzzzz.

Getting off my butt in a few minutes and going to throw a weight or two around. A few chesty weights wouldn’t kill a person would it? Nawwww.

Weighing In.

182.5 That’s a 3 pound loss for this week and down 20.5 pounds total. Great gravy I’m back on a roll!
“Lull Hell” is over.

I don’t have to worry about temptations this week because there’s no way in hell I’m going to put anything in my mouth that will keep me from the 170’s. By God look at how close I am  One minute it seems I’m fighting to keep from slipping back into the 190’s and then “poof” I’m fighting to break into the 170’s. Something about it seems so strange, like the 180’s is the 10 lb barrier between the heaven and hell of how I feel about what I weigh. The hell of it is the 190’s are too close to 200’s and are not weights that I whisper aloud, not even to myself. The “I hate being like this” pounds.
Now
the heaven. The 170’s and less are a whole different story. I can almost imagine squeaking out a number  depending on who I’m talking to!
Really though, these are the pounds that, along with working out, you can wear really well. People will say “You can’t possibly weight that much”.
I intend to make the 170’s a damned attractive weight to show off! I intend to be showing it off next week!
