I did what?

Last night was a beautiful evening. Around 8pm I took off on my bike. At 9:30 I rode in the yard. I even had to stop and get rid of my hooded jacket, that’s how mild it was out! A tank top in October…after dark…on my bike! I had my flashing tail light fired up and a new Schwinn headlight which threw good light. Turned that off after traffic died down, all of maybe 8 vehicles, and I rode by the moonlight,or should that be ‘by the light of the moon’. Me, my bike and some great tunes. Ah, what more can there be? Read on…

This morning I got up to a rainy day and I thought “I feel like going for a run” So, I did! 11 MILES!!! I still can hardly believe it! I have no idea what happened. I was at mile 5, soaking ringing wet, and passing by home when I decided to try and push it for mile 6. Next thing I knew I’d started feeling really good. The tiredness and heavy feeling in my legs disappeared. Poof…gone…magic! I cruised through my 7th mile and just into the 8th when I got to thinking that if I could run just 1/2 mile more to the corner post of the graveyard then running home would make 11 miles. I could hardy believe that this might become a reality for me. Well, by God I tagged the corner post, had to run into the ditch to do it :) and leaped back onto the road. I did an arms overhead WHOOHOO circle dance and waved like a mad woman at somebody I realized was looking out their window at me. Big smiles all around and I was off! 2.5 miles and I did it all. Every step In all honesty, mile # 11 was getting tough, but I felt so damned high happy from it all that I barely noticed. I’m just so amazed. What a rush! I still can’t believe it. :)

Why is it that a person can slowly build up their mileage, then it’s all you can do to barely squeeze out two or three miles and then ya go out one day and run like ya got bionic legs? What the fart is that all about?

Little sore tonight, so I’m going to pop a couple of Tylenol and rub these bionic legs of mine with a little A5-35.

“Good night all!” she cried, still grinning so hard it was hard to look upon.

Elmer’s in contwol…hu-hu-hu!

I ate goldarned healthy yesterday! I ran 6 miles last night and I better keep this up ’til my b-day, or else all kinds of sheeeeets gonna hit the fan! I honestly believe that this is the time of year our bodies try to pack on insulating layers of fat for the winter months. I mean, well jumpings, what other reason could there be for these insanely, irresistibly strong urges to oink out? I shall fight this to the death now that I’ve figured out what the devil is up! This ain’t gonna be easy. Grrrrrr!

It’s sunny out there and I want to get an early bike ride in. After that I guess it wouldn’t kill me to to some weights ‘n abs. maybe throw in a few mellow circuits on the old dreadmill. Mellow as in not anything over 10 mph….

 Hee hee…Did that make the eyes pop outta your head, or what! How does 5 mph sound?…….Yup, me too!

Damn germs! I’ve been a tad bit under the weather these past few days. Yay, so much fun. I am so thankful to ‘whoeverthehellitwas’ for spreading their germs all about.  Finally managed to get myself off the couch and out ‘n about to pawn this mess off on somebody else. Mwah ha ha ha! The cycle continues. A girlz gotta do what a girlz gotta do. :)

Oh, and that workout I mentioned the other day? My gawd!!! Highly recommend it or any thing like it. I was running at 9 miles per hour. FREAKING 9!!! LOLOL…for almost 1 minute ha ha ha.  I didn’t go the whole 3 minutes on that one though because my stupid lazy ‘did nothing since forever’ dreadmill shut down on me twice. Dust? Two darned times it turned on me, and both just after I finished the minute walk and started into a run part. Weird though because you would think that at 7 mph. I’d plow right into the console with it stopping like that, but that didn’t happen. Still I wasn’t about to trust it at 9 mph, so I chickened out. Did I mention 9 mph?  What a great way to get the old ticker pumping and sweat OMG the sweat that ran off of me was a frigging lot! The circuits of weights with all of those squats, and lunges etc. wasn’t nothing to sneeze at either.  A great circuit training routine and I’m adding it to my weekly routine. I’ve used this type of program before with my treadmill, but never running like that! I’ve never pushed myself through any weighted exercises so quickly either. “go go go” “Last Chance W/O” I am so going to be a biggest loser with this one!

Going for some b-fast and see after that what I ‘got under the hood’. Feeling good so fingers crossed! X

That’s all I could run yesterday. Started out with the slightest whisper of a headache and it  only got worse.  Allergy headache I’m guessing what with all of the fall weeds and pollen blowing around. Can’t believe I had to take an allergy pill in October!!!  Man, that just sucked because it was a perfect run day. Cool morning breeze, slightly overcast with fog lingering just off shore. Awwww man!!! That 3 hour nap while it kicked in was nothing to complain about. :) Wanted to run last night but could still feel a hint of a pounding sensation, so that was a  no go.

Today we got rain. I’m going to do my bootcamp program. I got this from the Biggest Loser site. It’s Bob Harpers bootcamp so ya gotta know it’s not easy! I don’t have the link anymore, so here’s a taste.  It consists of 30 full minutes of run like hell/walk circuits on the ‘dreadmill’. The run segments start at 5 mph and progress to 9 mph @ 3 min. each.. With my short legs probably not going to happen, but I must try! (help me) Next comes 30 minutes of 10 exercises, one minute each. Here’s how it goes:Push ups. Squats. Shoulder press(heavy on the weights). Shoulder press(same weights) with squats. Same weights-bicep curls. Keep the weights and alternating lunges. Tricep dips and into alt. lunges. Heavy up the weights and do lat. rows 30 sec ea. side and then back into lunges. Repeat circuit!!! Use remaining time to do crunches and stretch.

Holy smokes, do ya think this routine will kick my butt?

Will I survive?

The Crazy Witch is coming…run!

Yesterday three young boys were outside our local store doing a little rough housing, chasing each other around, and whooping and hollering like all get out. Right when I was going by them one broke away from the rest and said with a huge grin, “I’m coming to see YOU on Halloween”. I knew right away what he meant, so naturally I acted puzzled, “Why’rya coming to see me, I won’t be home”?  :)
“Yoooou knoooooow…the witch”! he grinned like mad at me and then he was gone! I guess it’s time for the witch to dust off her broom handle. ;) Company’s a coming! Eeeeee Heee heee hee…gag…hack…choke…darned broom stick exhaust!

Happy October 1st y’all!

86 days until Christmas!

Ha! Ha! Ha! errr should I say, Ho! Ho! Ho! Just so ya know! :) Should I simply shut the happy hello up!!! That’s what I thought…shuttie uppie. Shutabus uppagus???
Moved my ticker yesterday morning. 179. Been all over this number one side of it and then the other, so the heck with it. I’m feeling like I’m in a good place right now and can move that puppy on down a little more in favor of 170 lbs. Sunny fall weather for biking, running and hiking or walking and all that outdoorsey stuff. I’m itching to get going, but wanted to check in and say hello.
I finished the Lazy Man Triathlon this morning. YAY! I racked up the inquired 26 miles in about two weeks, and this morning I finished the double cycling for a total of 114 miles! I had to bike 15 to 20 miles several time to make sure I’d have the miles, but I wasn’t big on that. I know I can cycle that many , it’s just that 10 to 15 mile is more my thing! :) Only when I want to! It, as in ‘it the triathlon’, was an interesting goal to have to complete for September. Probably helped burned off a few of those choc. coated almonds…damn you, you deliciously addictive things!!!

It’s a good thing to have goals. Even if you don’t meet them, or end up changing them here and there as need be, I guess what counts is that you don’t give up on whatever you’re trying to accomplish. Ya keep coming back and taking another stab at it. Attacking it from another angle. I was just thinking that I don’t have a lot of angles left to play around with here if I want to meet my b-day goal. 11 weeks gives me a safe 20 lbs loss. I know I can do it because I’m tough and hard headed enough to do any thing I put my mind to and I’m losing 20 pounds dammit! So there take that you evil banana rum!!! I’ve spent enough time dicking around and it looks like I’m going to put myself on my own little ‘boot camp from hell’ program…and I WILL LIKE IT! So there, take that you sinful two bite brownies!

I’m going for a run!

update: omg! too hot to run! is it still summer? what the….

A good look in my book.

I sat down this morning and began pawing through my little black diet book. For the past two weeks I have writing down every stinking thing I’ve shoveled into my gob, what I was doing at the time and how I was feeling physically and emotionally. I’m a relatively happy go lucky thing, so there’s not a lot of “woe is me” crap to mull over….errrr…unless ya count “boo-hoo, why did I eat that? WHY WHY WHY” Which I didn’t write in those exact words, but was insinuated by high lighting the devil foods of choice in pink!!!

Examples taken straight from book: “Turkey sub on w/w with ultra high fat store mayo which I should have scrapped off and didn’t!!!”

How about:
“x4 two bite mini brownies. Must eat meals on time”

Or this one where I did write down my feelings: “Got very hungry because wasn’t eating enuf, so wanted shit, ate shit + feel like shit!!! X 100000 CHOCOLATE ALMONDS!!!!

No excuses for the language…I’m not sorry. It’s honestly how I was feeling at the time and that’s not “happy go lucky” me. That’s something that needs fixing!!!

So here’s what I’ve come up with and I’m pretty darned pleased with it all. Scattered out over the duration of two weeks they seem innocent enough, had I not been writing them down, that is. I have though, thank goodness, and look at all the things that are weighing me down. Weighing me up? :)

1. Water. x8 minimum. Drink it. Lots!

2. Eat on time. Do not miss meals…any more…ever again!

3. Balance out protein, veggies and carbs.

4. Booze= Munchies= Sweets cravings.

5. Hunger=Munchies= Sweets cravings.

6. High fat/ High sugar night time munching = night sweats. (very true!)

7. Feeling tired = Craving munchies. Take a nap or go the devil to bed if it’s night time. Stay away from the TV!!!

8. Eat before grocery shopping. “Duh!!! All dah foodz makin me crazy”

9. Eat required snacks between meals. Think “blood sugar” :)

Back on track and off to breakfast!

Catch ya later!

I almost didn’t run this morning.

Boyz oh boyz I’m some glad I did! I ran 7 miles and I feel great. Except for that little bit of “area sort of just below my butt” that’s giving me grief. What the heck is that anyways? Now that I finally have my legs all toughened up to running, that little area is a bit sore, what ever that area is…my thigh tops? Must be doing something different. Maybe I’m using more butt muscle to propel me along. Should be motoring along a lot faster if that’s the case. :) Part of that mileage was used run one of those little mop dogs I’m checking in on while the owner is away. Little thing is quite hyper and jumpy, so the owner warned me. Poor thing just needed some exercise. I had it all pooped out and running right nice like beside me in no time. I did a little dog whispering the last two days and now he sits while I open the door and waits for me to go out first. Sits and waits for dishes to be filled. All kinds of manners. Cute little turd. Too bad people don’t realize that if you give them a darn good run then they’ll actually listen to you and probably won’t chew the house apart. All that pent up energy, no wonder! Guess I got a little off track there. :) I miss our old dog. Used to run beside the bike with me. Wahhhhh I should have another dog. We travel more that we hate to be a pain in the butt asking for a dog sitter. Wahhhhhh!!!! I love love love love dogs, ‘n cats, and bunnies…and crows and ravens… ???

I must need some chow. Oh look! It’s lunch time…can’t miss a meal.

Run Run Run!

Last night had the best run in I don’t know how long. I took my runners I use only for the treadmill and put them to the test out on the road. It was a cool evening and very little traffic. I ran 6 miles and wow wow wow did they come easy. My $89.00 Sauconies…Saucony’s, ahh heck you know what I mean, they did a great job cushioning my feet! I heart them! The only reason I didn’t go for 7 miles was because I don’t like to get fooled by over doing it and having a set back. My ‘running shoes from hell’ legs are finally pain free! YAY! My last long run was a little iffy towards the end, so played it safe. Look out next long run though!!!

I’ve been playing around with speed work lately and I’m seeing some great results. I highly recommend it. I’ve noticed that I am beginning to sort of fly along verses the heavy foot strikes I was experiencing before. They recommend you try it once per week and I find I like to do it when my regular runs feel like they aren’t going so well. There’s a lot of different ways you can go about it, but the main thing is to do it your way! “I did it my waaaaay”! I ran all 5 miles Monday morning by running really fast/sprinting for about a minute and then walking for roughly a minute. Didn’t use a watch just all guess work and that kept it fun. Which was probably good because with a watch I’d have a tendency to stop exactly at the minute. This way I pushed a little harder and stopped when I felt I needed to. I tried it slow jogging instead of walking, but for those times when my legs are having a “pooped party” the walking recovery is most definitely better for them. Try this out and see what you think. I’m thinking your legs will love you!!!

Off to do more wood chucking! feeble little pathetic wheeee…

Wood wood wood all I see is wood! Yes, it’s that time of year. We’re splitting wood, handling wood, throwing wood in the basement and piling wood. My arms are so damned tired. Will just get used to it and the work will be done! Till February and we head into the woods to cut and haul more wood. Anybody want to fill in for me?…Hey where’d ya go? Hello?

Been doing great food wise. Running and biking, too. Plus I’m back into my fall schedule of getting in a w/o video daily. No wonder my arms are tired! Also, been doing a lot of vehicle checking  & calling around and that sort of time consuming and mundane crap that goes hand ‘n hand with car shopping.

Hope to catch up soon on all of your blogs. I just know I’m missing a lot. I can feel it! My spider senses are tingling. Will catch a bit of down time this evening. No plans for a Saturday night, thank god! Pooped!

Off to the wood pile…gah!!!
