I did what?
General 19 Comments »Last night was a beautiful evening. Around 8pm I took off on my bike. At 9:30 I rode in the yard. I even had to stop and get rid of my hooded jacket, that’s how mild it was out! A tank top in October…after dark…on my bike! I had my flashing tail light fired up and a new Schwinn headlight which threw good light. Turned that off after traffic died down,
all of maybe 8 vehicles, and I rode by the moonlight,or should that be ‘by the light of the moon’. Me, my bike and some great tunes. Ah, what more can there be? Read on…
This morning I got up to a rainy day and I thought “I feel like going for a run” So, I did! 11 MILES!!! I still can hardly believe it! I have no idea what happened. I was at mile 5, soaking ringing wet, and passing by home when I decided to try and push it for mile 6. Next thing I knew I’d started feeling really good. The tiredness and heavy feeling in my legs disappeared. Poof…gone…magic! I cruised through my 7th mile and just into the 8th when I got to thinking that if I could run just 1/2 mile more to the corner post of the graveyard then running home would make 11 miles. I could hardy believe that this might become a reality for me. Well, by God I tagged the corner post, had to run into the ditch to do it
and leaped back onto the road. I did an arms overhead WHOOHOO circle dance and waved like a mad woman at somebody I realized was looking out their window at me.
Big smiles all around and I was off! 2.5 miles and I did it all. Every step In all honesty, mile # 11 was getting tough, but I felt so damned high happy from it all that I barely noticed. I’m just so amazed. What a rush! I still can’t believe it.
Why is it that a person can slowly build up their mileage, then it’s all you can do to barely squeeze out two or three miles and then ya go out one day and run like ya got bionic legs? What the fart is that all about?
Little sore tonight, so I’m going to pop a couple of Tylenol and rub these bionic legs of mine with a little A5-35.
“Good night all!” she cried, still grinning so hard it was hard to look upon.
