An interesting day…
My Boyfriend and I have been together for 13 years. My oldest son is not his, but he has been a part of his life since he was 3. My son is 16. It is no secret that my BF and I have had a rocky relationship. It has been better the last several months. He has his moments but they are getting fewer and farther in between. I think he is finally beginning to grow up. Even when he was a jerk to me, he always treated my son like his own. He told me today that he wants to adopt DS16. I told him it was up to DS16. So he asked him tonight and it was really very emotional. My BF cried and Ds16 cried and I cried. My son said “It’s what I always wanted.” His father has never been a apart of his life. I am happy that that void can be filled for my son, to a certain extent. I want DS16 to keep his last name. He has my last name and he is the only boy to carry on the name. My mom and Dad had all girls. So when I had a baby out of wedlock, he became our only hope of having the name carry on. So nothing much will really change besides that he will have a father who is involved with him and truly cares for him. I guess we will see how it all pans out. BF is gonna contact his lawyer on Tuesday to get the ball rollling. It will all depend if his biological father will give up his rights. He pays child support but hasn’t seen him since he was 11 and before that he hadn’t seen him since he was 2! I think he probably will if it gets him out of child support. He’s a real deadbeat.
I think I have found a 5K that I like. It is on March 29th in the city where I work. I think it will be a good place to start. Well, start the count down! This gives me a reason to be diligent in my running. Time to stop the excuses and just get out there!
