Chasing away Chubby

McDonald’s is the devil!

Well today went fine.   I awoke with a purpose and got up posted on the other

3FC journal and went out for my walk/run.   I have decided my problem is that my joints or muscles one (since I have arthritis I am blaming my joints) are all tight and don’t want to move.  It takes them until the end of my walk/run to get loosened up enough for me to run with minimal pain.  So this morning I walk an entire mile before I began running.  My hope this will help loosen up whatever is giving me problems and I can have a more productive run…No such luck.  I am well into my 2nd mile before I start to feel  the difference in my gait; the swing of my legs feels natural , and there is much less pain when my heel strikes the ground.  I wish I could run like this all the time.  So I go one more mile for a total of four miles.  It felt almost like home toward the end.  I just wish it didn’t have to hurt so much at the beginnning!

Tomorrow I am going to do some things differently and see if they help.  I am gonna get up and do my Denise Austin Core and my Yoga workout before I go out to run.  I wanna see if this will help with my tightness.  Then I need to make sure to stretch afterwards. Something happens then too.  All day my muscles have felt…weird, they tighten up and I feel like I do when my arthritis is at its worst.  Working out is suppose to get rid of arthritis or at least make it better!  Not make it worse!  WTH?

So I went to town, went grocery shopping for food for camping.  I spent $40 and still do not have enough.  Ran some errands and came home and worked on cleaning the house.  The livingroom and DD’s room are clean.   The rest of it is still a pig sty.   Then Sis#3 came out and she hadn’t walked, so we went walking and I walked another 2 miles.  So that is a total of 6 miles for me today.  Whoo Hoo!

Okay, I confess! For Lunch I ate McDonald’s!!!! (screaming, crying… the horror!!!)  I ate the fish filet, and shared the fries with my son, and drank ice tea.  Honestly, it was nasty.  Definitely NOT worth the cheat.  After I had eaten the entire sandwich, I was like…”WTF…that wasn’t even good.  It was nasty.  Why in the hell did I eat all of that?”  Then I was overcome by the most amazing urge to make myself vomit.  Don’t worry…I am not a purger…but I was disgusted at all the wasted fat grams (38) and calories (300+).  Literally, I should have had a V8!   Lesson learned! I will not be going back anytime soon!  McDonald’s is the devil!

As a whole though I am controlling the food thing nicely.  I   just remind myself, that if I wanna eat it I can. No food is off limits (obviously).  I eat a very light lunch and for Dinner I eat whatever I want.  I am getting very good at choosing lighter fare, though over the fattening slop I was eating before. If I want a naughty item I tell myself I can have it after Dinner.  It Will be there later.  There is no food shortage in America.  If that Oreo looks good, I can eat it after Dinner.  (Dinner is usually my big meal.) I am happy to report though that most the time after I have eaten my dinner I do not desire the forbidden fruit anymore.  So this, in short, is working for me.

Tomorrow is more of the same, run/walk, clean, mother, clean, mother, pass out on the couch!  Ahh!  my life is full!

Hell Week update

I modified my goal to the more sane, 90 minutes  a day.  My inner superwoman was in charge that day when I made the first goal.

5 days+90 mins/day=1 fabulous me!

Goal 450/293 done/157 to go!

  1. 90 minutes sounds much more sustainable than 2 hours. It’s still a long time, but if you can keep it up, more power to you! You’ll be at goal in no time.

I posted a rant on fast food on my blog (16 by 40) today. You might find it interesting. Or not. :)

  2. Wow, 6 miles, holy cow that’s a lot of exercise! Good going though! I’m sorry you have so much pain in the beginning, I hope it gets better…a lot of people would’ve given up by now so I really commend you with sticking with it! I’m glad you said the fish fillet was nasty because the minute I saw “Fish fillet” my mouth started drooling lol.

  3. I do the “after dinner” trick too except, I stop my daily intake at around 6 pm so…for me it’s usually, “I’ll eat it tomorrow”

  4. Right On for you Sweets! :)
