No Weigh! Challenge–Day 1

Exercise, Mini Goals 3 Comments »

I’ve decided not to weigh myself for one month. Or at least I am challenging myself to weigh myself for one month. I’ve always been a scale lover, especially since I’ve got this great accurate scale, but lately I’ve been finding myself disenchanted with it. Perhaps it’s the stall in weight loss. Of course, the cause of the weight loss is that I’ve been going over my calories, so I have a theory that maybe if I am not sure that I’m at least maintaining, I won’t cheat as much (did that make a lick of sense?).

So, I’ve christened this the “No Weigh!” Challenge and it starts today. I will weigh myself on March 27, one month from now. I figure either way I will gain something from it. Either I will learn that I really don’t need to weigh myself everyday to lose weight or that I need to in order to at least keep myself under control.

——

“Saving” my calories until later in the day is not working out like I’d hoped. I’m still eating a lot more earlier in the day than I’d like.  Still have that to work on!

I did not workout yesterday, it was a planned rest day. I was pretty achy all over, so I think I really needed that rest. Today, so far, I’ve done 30 minutes of The Firm with weights. One day I will make it all the way through lol. I hope to go for a 2 mile run later today. I hope it’s not as cold as it was yesterday.

Weight today: Down to 192.6!

Body fat percentage: 37%

Yay! AF arrived last night (A Valentine’s Day Curse??) so hopefully the weight will continue to come off. I think baby and I will go out and do a few errands today and then I’ll do some yoga/stretching while he is napping.  I made some spaghetti sauce yesterday with tons of zucchini, tomato chunks, mushrooms and carrots in it, so all I need to do it cook some whole grain spaghetti and I will be set for eating today. Well I guess I can’t have it for breakfast, so shredded wheat for breakfast.

Nothing much to post about today, as you can see. I hope that I can beat my last tomorrow at the race. I will post when I get back from it.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Going out for a 3 mile run, just wanted to post here first for accountability. I will make another post when I get home.

Update: I did the 3 miles, yay. It was a good day for a run. The only bad thing that happened was that I tookDH’s phone with me because mine was dead, somehow dropped it in the parking lot and then ran over it! What an idiot I am! Oh well. I bought a food scale and I think that will come in handy. Lately when I see that a serving is say, 6 oz, I just kind of eyeball it, but now I can be sure.  I plan to do 3 miles again on Thursday and then Friday will be a rest day. Tomorrow is a workout DVD or Y!F.

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies :)

Weight today was 199 on the dot. I was all dressed to go running today before I did groceries. It was drizzling  a bit but I still planned to do it. of course, the downpour started just as I was pulling into the parking lot. I know a lot of people run in the rain, but I dont have a stroller cover to protect the baby and I dont’ have a poncho to protect myself. Plus, I’m afraid of slipping and hurting myself. I am going to do either Y!F or DDR today instead and run with my best friend tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t rain.

I bought groceries today, as I said, and thank goodness because it was getting down to the bare bones :) well not really, it was just stuff that I was tired of eating. Still trying to get off the diet pepsi’s . I wish they weren’t in the house, but DH is addicted to them and I wouldnt even dream of asking him not to drink them, he would die of indignation. Nothing much else to report.

Run, Leeda, RUN!

Boy it was hard getting back to running. The only good thing I have to report is that my foot/ankle didn’t hurt. I left it wrapped and my new shoes were heaven. Unfortunately, my lungs seem to have forgotten that a week and a half ago, we could run for 20 minutes and, darn it, it felt good! Today I did 5 minutes, walked for 2, and then did 3 minutes. I walked for about 10 more minutes and just stopped. I will try again tomorrow. I know I can get back into this, it will just take time.

Eating is going ok…I need to lay off those left over hot dogs in the fridge. I think I will feed the last 2 to the dogs and be done with it.

C25K- last day of week 5

The 20 minute run was today and it was a doozy. I stopped at 10 minutes for a sip of water and then continued on. The last 10 minutes I was slow as a turtle, but still jogging and that’s what’s important, right? :)

Here’s week 6, day 1

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

* Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
* Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
* Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
* Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
* Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

There’s one more day with intervals and then the rest is just whole sets of running. One small problem is that my jogging stroller’s wheels are super squeaky. People can hear me coming from a mile away. It’s kind of funny, though I think I need to get some WD40. I feel delightfully tired now, but I need to do my weights.

Menu:

6:00 banana
8:00 bran flakes w/2 percent milk (we are out of skim!)
9:30 Cup of hot green tea
10:15 soy peach yogurt
11:00 baked chicken breast w/ lima beans, half of a baked sweet potatoe
2:00 small bowl of bran flakes, 1/4 banana
4:30 baked chicken breast w/ mixed veggies, half a sweet potatoe
to be continued

Amazed…

If you want to start running, please, please please try this program. It is amazing. I ran 8 minutes today without even thinking about it, walked 5 and then another 8 with only slight fatigue. I remember when I was doing the 60 seconds, how I would want to give up. I can’t believe how far I’ve come. This program is wonderful.

Ok that’s the positives, here are the negatives:

My eating is out of control!!! Maybe that is an overstatement, but I am eating a lot, although it’s all healthy foods. I must have had 3 bowls of cereal yesterday! Every time I do it I think “Oh snacking is good for blood sugar stability” but I’m doing way too much. Still no period, so maybe my hormones are acting up? Bleh, I don’t know anymore. (NO I’m not pregnant lol. I have an IUD and I already took a pg test a couple of days ago). I also really feel bloated and I can tell my fingers are puffy.

Anyway, back to the eating. I want to do Atkins badly, but baby is still nursing quite a bit. If I could get him down to once a day, I wouldn’t feel bad doing it. Time will tell I guess.

First, Iwant to say how much all of your comments mean to me. I get more support on this blog then I would ever find in real life and I know it’s what helps me to stay on track. I did pretty good on Day 1 of week 5. Tomorrow (or the next day I do it) goes like this:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

  • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
  • Walk 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)

Seems simple enough, huh? lol…

I felt great afterwards and went to the grocery store  where of course I run into someone I haven’t seen in awhile. Why is that when I look my worst, I always see someone  I know? And this morning, I just let the baby go in his t-shirt and pajama pants, so he looked like a bum too. Plus I was all sweaty. I just really didn’t expect to see anyone I knew at 6:30 in the morning. Oh well! I bought this soybean butter (like peanut butter) that I can’t wait to try out. I wanted to see if baby would like it and it’s just a healthier option. Money’s a little tight this month, so I will probably be eating some type of sandwich for lunch everyday.

Still no period and still at the same weight. But my clothes fit better, waist size is smaller and bodyfat percentage is down to 45% (that’s down 1.5 percent), so something must be going right. I don’t do the body fat thing everday, maybe every couple of weeks. *yawn* time for a nap!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow…

I’ll love myself tomorrow. Oh what the heck, let’s start tonight. I ate a lot of crap, but like BoSoxFan said, time to dust myself off. I’ve decided to go ahead and start week 5 of C25k. Unlike the previous weeks, this one is different for each day of the week and the last day is just a 20 minute run (yikes!!) The first day doesn’t look that bad. It goes like this:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:

  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

I think I can do this, I’m just going to have to get out there early. The heat is a real exercise deterrent. That’s all for now I  will post my results in the morning.

I ran my last day of c25k week 4. It went worst than last  time and I think I  know why…we got there too late and it was 84 degrees…also I dropped my water bottle repeatedly and ended up throwing it away, so no water and hotter than usual are not a good mix. OH and then I decided I was going to do hills the whole way, which made my legs feel like rubber. So, end result was that I didn’t do the last minute and 20 seconds of the final 5 minute run. I am still trying to decide if I should just go ahead into week 5 or do one more day of week 4.  I really think I could’ve done it if I hadn’t had such bad conditions.

I went out with a friend of mine and her baby to eat and walk around the mall. It was fun, I ended up eating a veggie burger and a couple of fries. I also wore a pretty skirt that I got from a consignment store.  I remember being so jealous of this friend because while we were both pregnant, she lost tons of weight and I gained tons. We were about the same size starting off. Of course, I know losing tons of weight is not that great during pregnancy, but I was jealous all the same. Well, she’s put on a ton more weight since I’ve seen her. She was telling me how she was going to do the Atkins diet to lose her weight, at least her version of it. It’s pretty much her eating nothing but meat and cheese…no wonder people have a skewed version of the Atkins diet. Anyhoo, here’s what the menu was today:

B: bowl of veggie soup

S: cantaloupe

L: veggie burger (ruby tuesday’s…on a wheat bun with cheese and garlic mayo), a couple of fries

S: watermelon

D: 2 thin baked pork chops, baked potatoes, a little bit more cantaloupe
