Sibling Rivalry

Thus far my sweet sis has lost 15 pounds on the programme and her husband 12.  Woohoo!. Course they follow the eating portions religiously while I like to think of them as guidelines. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

So i bit the bullet and weighed on Monday and lying scale read 221.2 a 7.8 loss. Not as good as the 10 pounds like sweet sis and her hubby but still pretty darned good.

ENTER THE SABOTEUR

We had a visitor from NY at work this week who brought Godiva chocolates for the staff and a box specially for me. Needless to say I am eating my chocolates. The good thing is they are all dark chocos so they are healthy for the heart. I am limiting myself to one a day “SIgh”. Oh the sacrifice we have to make to have a healthy heart!!. LOL

Peace and love the life you live.

I’m Back

Well I’m back… and…I brought a friend

Actually I brought a sister and a brother-in-law. I convinced them that the programme was so good that they should give it a try… they just needed to get past the first week… which they did with much complaining . Right now they are just concluding the second week, the first for macropatterning and they really enjoyed getting to eat pasta and pizza… Anything other than lettuce and cucumber was fantastic. Despite the challenge, they each lost 10 pounds that first week. I’m like WHAT?? I have never lost 10 pounds the first week of anything. LOLOL

I’m now about to start the second week (again) and am excited about it. I put on 5 pounds since I last blogged. Bah humbug…so now my starting weight is 229. I swear I’m going to blow up the lying scale. This time I have to keep my calories below 1545, the threshold of what I need to mainain my weight according to the slow metabolism. So I have to really monitor and record what I eat. Not saying that I am looking forward to this aspect but I have no choice.

I think I was in denial about the metab. I mean what is 1500 cal… two crackers and a carrot. PLease!!. So I need to find some low calorie foods so I can fill up my plate… My eye always being bigger than my stomach LOLOL.

i also spent my time away gathering weightloss articles that I thought were interesting or at least which I could make interesting. I need fodder so I can maintain my blog. My life is just too boring to write about consistently. I mean, who wants to write about waking up at 6AM, bathing, going to work, coming home and wathcing tv, day after to day, after day. For that matter, who would want to read about it. Where’s the bleeping excitement? I know I could talk about my love un-affair with Mr. Moody GQ, but that is so complicatedly confusing and simple that I couldn’t sort it out anyway. The point is I need something more than my daily life to write about. I’ve got a couple things in store and I’m looking forward to it, but now is not that time since I have a ton of work and research to do.

Soo, Til next time… Smooches and love the life you live.

Target Caloric Zones

I weighed today. (sigh)
As i suspected (double sigh), the scale now reads 224. Now what kind of number is that… stinking lying scale.
Me thinks me have to start all over again. According to Ms. Chant the goal was to lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks. I lost 7 and gained 4. What a thing.
Granted i stopped following the programme about 4 weeks ago, but still that is soooo not cool.

Now I’m looking at my metabolism chart as I prepare to go back on the CHANGE. I think i was in denial LOLOL. People with normal metabolisms at my current weight may eat approximately 1700-1800 calories and still maintain a one-pound per week weightloss. Turns out I can’t do that.  I have to eat between 1245 and 1555 calories to stay in my weightloss zone. Course when I saw the figure my first thought was “oh crap there goes dinner :D”.

Playing Catch-up

I haven’t blogged for a couple weeks. Where have I been? What important activities kept me from writing… Absolutely nothing!. I am looking back on my activities and wondering where did the time go. I’m also looking at the time I wasted. I decided to scale down and work only 3 days a week from the beginning of September so I could have the time to do other things. YEAH RIGHT!!. I spent most of those free days watching television or reading.

So how is the weightloss coming… HMMM That is a little tricky. My hairstylist seems to think I’m doing something right. I see her every two weeks and she notices missing inches while the people who see me everyday don’t seem to notice anything. To be honest I haven’t noticed anything either. My clothes don’t seem to be any looser since about two weeks ago. My last weigh-in (about two weeks ago) was 221 and so I will have to battle the Lying scale tomorrow. I suspect there will be a bloody war and we’ll see who survives.

So what did I do the last couple weeks…

I met with the director of a non-profit org. that is trying to promote organic and hydroponic foods. They will provide assistance with setting-up low-tech greenhouses and so far a couple friends and relatives are interested.

I read and watched TV …a lot… A LOT!

I was part of a dance group that was judged as part of our national creative arts festival. It was so SO cool to be the biggest person on stage and yet was the person the judges said made a lasting impression because of my vivaciousness HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. We are waiting to see whether we made it to the semifinals.

Oh and I celebrated my 26th birthday on Sept 21. After being 25 for a couple years (give or take 8 or there abouts), I decided that It was time to be 26. I told a couple friends from dance that I was 26 and they believed me. My cousin who dances in the same group and is literally only a couple weeks older that I am said she was 24 too and they would have believed her except for the fact that she had a 12 year old son, who they all know. LOLOL.

Stats

The LYING SCALE on Tuesday said I was 221 pounds on Tuesday - a 2 pound weight gain.

However I do not feel too badly since the STINKING PERIOD is due anytime now so it may be water retention.

Missing in Action

WANTED
One MIA diet. If seen please report immediately to the nearest police station or call 1-800-JENNYNEEDSASLAP

Let’s just say that the past week was certainly not the best eating wise. The good thing about not recording what you eat is you can convince yourself that you can make good choices for your meals. I had lot’s of veggies and so on… which is good.

The bad thing about not recording is that you underestimate the bad choices you make.. Like the extra cookies I had or the piece of bread I popped into my mouth, or the sip of soda I drank from a friend’s cup. It all adds up. I have come to realise that I need to make the effort to write down what I am eating all the time. My problem is that I am a grazer. I want to taste everything and will take a little here, a little there, and it all adds up. Writing stuff down had helped as it was often just too tedious to write down 1 chip, half a cookie, a thumbsized piece of chicken. It was just easier not to graze.

I also need to get back to the crack the fat loss book I stopped reading it daily since I figured I knew the schedule but reading it helped to keep things on track. So I go back to the beginning. I plan to have a mini carb deplete for 4 days and then carry on with the programme.

The power of Multiples and CFM Shoes - Part 2

So how does it feel to lose 28 pounds of pressure off the joints? It feels absolutely fantastic! I realized the difference when I wore some of the CFM shoes I bought recently. And what does CFM mean….. Well I was talking to a friend last week who I have not seen for a couple years and we were catching up on each others lives. As these things go, the chat usually gets around to discussing jobs. When I asked her if she was enjoying hers she said “No, but you know the feeling you get when you go into a store and see a gorgeous pair of CFM shoes and can whip out your wallet and pay for it on the spot? Well that feeling is what keeps me coming to this miserable place every day.” HAHAHAHAHA

I can relate to that very well but I did not know what CFM shoes were so I asked….

CFMs are ’Come F*** Me” Shoes. You know the sexy pumps, sandals, wedges that make your husband, boyfriend or baby daddy go ‘hmmm’ and come hither. They cannot help but compliment you on your feet and if you are adventurous they are the shoes which will be the only thing you wear when you want to seduce your mate.

I think every girl, REGARDLESS OF SIZE, needs at least one pair of CFM shoes. Even if you don’t have a husband, boyfriend or baby daddy. They come in all heights and colours these days so there is no excuse. You just need to go looking. I favour the 4 to 5 inch platforms that are the rage at the moment. The makers have become so adept at either hiding or making the platform look attractive. Plus the platform is so much more comfortable and makes it much easier to walk (especially for us big girls who still want to look stylish).

However the best part is after having lost some of the pressure off my joints I found i could keep them on for a longer period of time. Last week I decided to wear a pair of 5 inch, CFM open toed slingbacks to work because I wanted to look cute as a result of losing another pound and was so pleasantly surprised that after 10+ hours my feet were not threatening to go on strike. I cannot wait to lose more pressure so that the 5 inch heels become the norm rather than the exception.

The power of Multiples and CFM Shoes - Part 1

So… I am a delinquent. I freely admit it. I will not lie nor offer any excuse. Though the Olympics has me glued to the TV  nevertheless it is not my excuse.

I have not recorded anything I ate for the past week in my official diary. I do have a couple log sheets of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals; but then I usually take those write them out nicely in the diary and calculate the calories and carbs consumed. I have done NONE of that. My last entry was August 5th so I guess it’s officially 2 weeks that I have been delinquent.

However,  I have  tried (mostly) to stick to the carb up, down and baseline days and I guess that has been going okay because the LYING SCALE at work on Tuesday August 19 says I’m now 219. I must admit that I was very happy and did a little dance of joy. I think the scale was trying to get back in my good books since the metabolism scale showed it up a little. We’ll see if it continues to be good. But it knows I’m on to it.

So what’s in the power of multiples? This is a doozy for anyone who is trying to lose weight and needs a little encouragement when the scale seems to be ticking over too slowly. I discovered this wonderful fact that just tickles me constantly. It seems that every pound of fat we lose will actually equate to a loss of 4 (FOUR) pounds of pressure of our joints. So the next time anyone asks you “so how’s the weight loss going?” instead of saying I only lost 5 pounds in 6 weeks your response could be “it’s going great! I lost 20 pounds of pressure.”  Now isn’t that just FABULOUS. This means that thus far I have lost 28 pounds of pressure. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Now the stats so far read like this:

Current weight by LYING SCALE: 219
No. pounds lost after 3 weeks on the CHANGE:: 28 pounds( of pressure)

Here’s the link where I got the info. It’s actually a great encouragement to begin walking.. Now if only I could become consistent at walking LOLOL.

CFM shoes to follow in Part 2

I knew it all along….

Yes folks it has been confirmed. My metabolism is slower than normal. Ten percent slower to be exact. It was officially tested today and there the results were.. falling to the left of normal. I wonder if that’s why I always struggled with my weight… or maybe I just like food. hmmmLOL. Regardless, I now have verification of what I suspected. It came as a surprise however because i also know that half my weight is muscle and bone which suggests that my MET should be at least normal. Go figure. It was suggested that I see an endocrinoligist to see if anything is wrong with my thyroid.

I also found out that some overweight people actually have high metabolisms because they require more effort to move their bodies.. I though that was fascinating. I am not one of them however…. how disappointing.

So all in all I have to excercise more , do some more strength training and eat more metabolism boosting foods. I also think I’ll visit the endocrinologist to see whether everything is okay.

The test was conducted by me breathing through a plastic tube from 10 minutes.. Felt as though I was snorkeling. Then she calculated my BMI.. And get this.. her scale said I weighed 216 pounds. I Love her Scale. HAHAHAHAHA I think I’ll sneak over to her every week for my weigh-in. I tried the scale at work and that said 220. I am choosing to believe that the scale at work is wrong. Granted at 220 that would be a 1 pound loss since Monday. But I like 216 better. I think I’ll use both weights from now on like this below.

STATS Week 3 Day 4
Previous weight by lying, deceiving, scale at clinic (11 August 2008): 221 pounds
Current weight by accurate scale for metabolism testing: 216 pounds
Current weight by lying, deceiving and disgusting scale at clinic: 220 pounds

Yerba Mate (For Eileen)

Hi Eileen… Hope you saw the comment I posted regarding your question about Yerba Mate. It’s supposed to have all these other ‘wonder’ benefits… save the world and all that LOL. Contains a generous supply of vitamins and minerals (chlorophyll, Vits ABCE, magnesium, potassium etc.) Plus is regarded as “one of nature’s weightloss secrets” which boosts your metabolism and curbs appetite. I don’t go in for all that hype. If it works for other people, more power to them.

I use it because it helps with ‘Aunt Flow”. This I can vouch for. Less pain, less bleeding FANTASTIC.

I also use it as an energizer. I hardly ever use coffee as I don’t like how my body reacts to caffeine. Love how coffee smells though. Yerba M gives me a pick me up without picking me up and I don’t get the heartracing, jittery, wind-up toy feeling that goes with coffee. It’s great in the evening if I want to stay awake for a little while but still be able to sleep. I prefer the loose tea but use the tea bags as well.
