Just another 3fatchicks.com weblog

I was doing really well until the weekend. Out of town and eating out and hungry so I ate, plus we had a family picnic yesterday. I gained back one and a half pounds. But tomorrow’s another day. I hope to do better.

It’s not been easy but I managed to loose 3 pounds this week. I wasn’t sure I could do it but I did. I am just going to take this one step at a time and continue trying. Let’s all get er done.

If we are exercising we are going to gain muscle.  Muscle weighs more than fat.  To get a true picture of how we are doing we need to take our measurements as well as weigh.  I ate a fattening lunch yesterday but didn’t eat supper.  I think all in all I did okay.  Yesterday I had Blueberry Morning with 1% milk.  For lunch I had a barbeque sandwich, hashbrown casserole, brunswick stew and cole slaw.  I know I shouldn’t have but the smell of barbeque was so strong that I gave in.  But at supper I wasn’t hungry at all so that is all I ate yesterday.

I weighed yesterday morning and my weight was the same as when we started.  At least I maintained and not gained.  But the weekend was hard because we went out of town and ate out, not that we can’t eat right and eat out but I just didn’t.  I ate a bowl of Blueberry Morning for breakfast yesterday and a ham sandwich with lettuce and tomato and mustard for lunch.  I was still hungry and ate about 2 or 3 oz. of steak and a couple of bites of mashed potatoes.  Later I had a 4 oz. yogurt at 40 calories and no fat.  I had another bowl of Blueberry Morning and a Roast Beef sandwich with mayo. for supper.

I know we are only suppose to weigh once a week but I weighed this morning and I am down a pound.  I haven’t started walking yet but I intend to.

Well, we had no official “This is my starting weight”, but as I’ve mentioned, I weighed last week and was 221.  Since last Thursday, the first day I walked, I’ve walked 4 times, including today!  I haven’t really changed what I’m eating, but last night didn’t “clear my plate”.  This morning, being a Tuesday and the day we selected as our weekly weigh in day, I’m at…..drumroll please……221 AND A HALF!  Ha!  But I don’t feel discouraged in the least as I feel very proud for having done all this walking.

Now on to the food portion of the “diet plan”.  I ate a bagel and chive cream cheese and a large coffee with extra cream for breakfast.  A bowl of Special K with fat free milk for lunch and a V8 Fusion drink at midday and pretzels in the car on the way home.  I’m going to have pancakes for dinner :)

 Later duddettes,

My intentions have been good but temptation is strong.  I have made up my mind though, and I am really going to try.  You have to start out gradual or else you will get discouraged.  I am used to comsuming a lot of food and I get hungry if I try to cut back too much all at once.  That is when you grab something before you think and eat it.  At 7:00am I had a small bowl of cereal (Blueberry Morning) with 1%milk.  It is 8:45 and I am already hungry again.  I am going to tend to the dogs now and when I get through I will probably have some fruit to tide me over to lunch.

I will start that today!  I haven’t really changed what I’m eating at the moment, though I am trying to stop eating when I start to feel full–this is a weird thing for me as I am a cumpulsive plate cleaner sometimes.  Not always, which is also strange, but a lot of times when I’m here on my own.  I think its easier to just eat it all than to find something to put it in and heaven knows we can’t just throw it away.

But I did another walk last night.  Our same little jaunt up the hill.  I also mapped out what would be a mile walk in my neighborhood using that mapmywalk website.  Elly Mae, make sure you don’t bite off too big of a chunk to walk in the beginning.  A good rule of thumb is to walk 5 minutes and then add a minute everyday as tolerated.  Works better than distances.

WHEW! I finally make it in! Where do I start? Hmmm….. Well I have no diet plan as of yet! I indulged in a prime rib dinner at my mother’s yesterday and today she sent chicken and dumplings home w/ the ole hubby. How can anyone say NO to that?

I do have to say in the last few weeks at home, I have been working my butt off. My pants are already fitting looser, even my family noticed yesterday. I guess after washing and waxing vehicles and scrubbing the corners of the kitchen floor can shed a few pounds. I am starting to like the compulsive obessive disorder thing.

Well, I will start tomorrow in watching what I eat. I can’t go cold turkey as I can not afford to loose the hubby! I will start tomorrow walking to the end of the road and back which is a quater mile long, one way. So therefor I pledge to walk a half mile 3 times a week w/ the old Abbey miester! She too can afford to shed a few pounds.

I am actually looking foward to getting started. I have a ton of beautiful clothes in the closet I would love to wear. Some even still have tags so it will be like getting a whole new wardrobe. You know it will make us more honest to document what we actually are eatting in a day and have to post it. If you document what we eat, I think we would be totally surprised and if we posted it and was honest about it, we may actually start to eat less.

Along with posting what we eat and posting our weights we create a detailed documentation so we can go back and see what went wrong or what we did right. I think this is the approach I want to try, what about you gals?

I will start my walking tomorrow and documenting what I consume in a day so stay posted!

Found an interesting site this evening.  I was looking for a little log to keep track of my walking (which I did again tonight!!) and found this online log.  Not only can you log your walks, you can use the map tool to calculate how far you’re walking (i did .07 of a mile tonight-pitiful!).

 Anywho, here it is:

Hope everyone’s getting started.  Remember, our first weigh in is on Tuesday.

Well, I started off good but I ate good tonight.  I am going to count fat grams.  No more than 30 a day.  And I am going to follow the US food pyramid.  And I will choose carbs that are low on the glycemic index.  I did that before and it worked for me.  I messed up tonight but will do better tomorrow.  Dolly
