Plantar Fascitis…painful!!!

Well I no longer think the pain in my foot is gout but plantar fasciitis. Its been going on too long for gout and I have taken a whole prescription of gout medicine…to no avail! My sister and my oldest brother both have plantar fascitis…so why should I be different??? My sister has been telling me the whole time that is what it is, but I wasn’t wanting to hear that.

Not being able to walk is killing my diet!!!!! Scale was up again this morning (2 pounds). If I can’t walk…how am I supposed to reach my goal??????????

Well hobbling off to eat supper (I made homemade chicken salad with low-fat mayo and a homemade peach pie).

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!!

Judy

ouch, Judy, I really hope you feel better soon, it sounds terrible.

…just a question - how is not being able to walk related to killing your diet? I can understand it making it hard or impossible to exercise, but that’s not diet, that’s exercise, and maybe weight loss… ;-)
I am actually very sympathetic, one year ago I was immobile due to sciatica, taking massive amounts of narcotic painkillers and just a few weeks away from my wedding. I was unable to walk but made myself focus on being careful with my diet because I know my normal coping mechanism for both stress and boredom is food. It worked, I didn’t gain during that period.

After surgery and getting back to normal months later I’m better, but still feel all the pain and suffering again whenever I hear of anyone in a similar predicament. Hope you get better soon.

Point well taken…should have said my exercise not my diet but they are one in the same to me…no walking=weight gain for me.
I am so used to eating what I want and walking it off it is going to be hard to learn to limit my food intake.

Judy, I used to have horrid plantar fasciitis. It was awful and I have to be on my feet for 12 hour shifts. Plantar Fascitis is usually worse first thing in the morning when you get out of bed. Usually affects the heel more than the whole foot. I switched to Dansko shoes and wear nothing else now at work and it totally got rid of my pain. I have been pain free in my heels now for almost 5 years thanks to the new shoes. Dansko don’t work for everyone, but if you talk to your doctor about a good pair of shoes maybe he can recommend something as well as some exercises for your foot.
Good luck, hun it is awful living with pain.

    Thanks Shannon!
I ordered me a pair. At this point nothing can hurt/only help so I am willing to try new shoes. I have bought expensive shoes for years…because I have to. I envy people who can walk in Wal-Mart and buy any shoe but I have always had to buy “quality” shoes due to my circulation problems. I have tried many shoes and have seen the Dansko but have never owned any. I read about the exercises and my sister (also a nurse who works 12 hour shifts and suffers from Plantar Fascitis) gave me some exercises that a doctor gave her to do. She only wears New Balance shoes. I have tried them but they didn’t work for me.
I will let you know if the Dansko work for me!!
    Thanks again!!!
    Judy
