torn rotator cuff

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to touch base with you and let you know my shoulder surgery went well except for them getting the IV going. Took numerous nurses and finally a doctor and 20 sticks later to get the IV started in my foot. They collapsed all the veins in my right arm!! I reported at 9:00 and at 10:30 they were still trying to get an IV in….I was SOOOOO upset and my arm looks like I was beaten from shoulder to fingers.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. Doc says I am restricted for at least a month. Physical therapy starts Monday…and I know that is going to be murder!!! I have this big sling contraption on my left shoulder/arm. It has an ice tray box that keeps the shoulder cool. neat but HEAVY!!!

I am on powerful meds so I am on the way to bed. Will check back in as I can.

Glad to hear your surgery went well Jo!!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

God bless,

Judy

8 puppies left to die in hot sun!!!

I think it was Andy Rooney who said…”The more I meet people the more I like my dog”  I am with you Andy.  Some heartless_________  left 8 beautiful babies in a clothes basket out in the 85 degree weather,no shade around (on the side of the road) near my home this afternoon. Those poor little babies couldn’t get out of the basket, had no access to shade or water and were crying (screaming) for help. I tell you some people have NO heart and NO conscience. Just dumped them like they were garbage…. I may not ever know who you are (and it is good I don’t) but God knows who you are and those are His creatures. How can someone be so cruel?????? I better stop there before I really get in trouble!!!!

Anyway on another note…Hubby, Sarah and I have been working on my house non-stop since this morning. Actually hubby and I started yesterday with some painting, rearranging and cleaning. Again I feel as if Jo has taken over my body and put this “need to clean” in me.  Speaking of Jo, We pray your surgery tomorrow goes well and you get a good report!!!!

Well off to do more cleaning (I sneaked off in here for a potty break and the computer was calling my name). Since they have found me I better get back before there is mutiny afoot!!!

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!!

God bless!!!

Judy

Thank you for your sacrifice!!!

Mere words could never express the debt of gratitude we owe the men and women who served and sacrificed so we could remain free and enjoy the freedoms we still enjoy. So though inadequate, a big THANK YOU is in order…especially to the families of those who made the supreme sacrifice.

Yesterday was eventful with our Memorial Day service. We had a cd presentation of those who had passed away in our families and church…wasn’t a dry eye in the place!!! I know it is painful to remember sometimes…but we need to pause and reflect too.

Well it is the week of my surgery. I am dreading Thursday already, in a way, but I also want to be healthier and have a shoulder/arm that functions properly.

I will try to eat healthier this week. I know I have a lot to do to get my house in shape before my surgery…gonna burn those calories!!!

I will check back in as often as possible before Thursday. I don’t know how long I will be offline but will return as soon as physically possible.

Hope everyone has a great week. If you messed up last week….wipe the slate clean and give it another shot…nothing ventured…nothing gained!!!

God bless,

Judy

Baking…trying to keep from sampling!!

We’re having a Memorial Day dinner after services tomorrow and I am making desserts. I am making a Flag Cake (white cake decorated with red strawberries and blueberries) and 2 Flag berry cheesecakes. I don’t care for cream cheese so I don’t have to worry about sampling the pies…but the cake (yum yum). I also have to make a peanut butter pie for  Sarah and Jade’s father-in-law (made one for Mother’s Day and he fell in love with it) I made it reduced fat everything(cut the calories/fat in half) and NO ONE could tell the difference proving once again that it doesn’t have to be loaded with fat to be good!

I hope everyone has a great 3 day weekend…try to behave yourselves!!!!

Blessings,

Judy

Pre-op over…whew no blood draw!!

I am soooo glad they didn’t need my blood this morning at my pre-op. I am a hard stick and I dread having anyone “try” to draw my blood. They did do an EKG and weigh me and ask 5 million questions but it went well!!!  They said the surgery would last about 2 hours so that’s not too bad (I hope).

Breakfast was a steak biscuit, a cinnamon biscuit (which I didn’t need) and an OJ. Lunch was 2 hotdogs, about 10 potato chips (which I didn’t need) and a glass of tea. Taking my oldest out to supper tonight at FATZ. I am sure I don’t need that!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well on their diets!!

Have a great Thursday and God bless!!!

Judy

P.S.  My foot is a LOT better today…thank the Lord!!!

Plantar Fascitis…painful!!!

Well I no longer think the pain in my foot is gout but plantar fasciitis. Its been going on too long for gout and I have taken a whole prescription of gout medicine…to no avail! My sister and my oldest brother both have plantar fascitis…so why should I be different??? My sister has been telling me the whole time that is what it is, but I wasn’t wanting to hear that.

Not being able to walk is killing my diet!!!!! Scale was up again this morning (2 pounds). If I can’t walk…how am I supposed to reach my goal??????????

Well hobbling off to eat supper (I made homemade chicken salad with low-fat mayo and a homemade peach pie).

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!!

Judy

All good things must come to an end!!

Well as I figured, the scale is no longer forgiving of my inactivity. I tried to walk Monday (limped for 45 minutes) but I made it!!! The down side is that it started my foot back to hurting (since it wasn’t totally healed in the first place) and I didn’t get to walk today. The scale was 196 this morning…but it could have been worse!!!

My shoulder surgery is just around the corner…9 more days!! I want to be 195 or less by then! Had a steak biscuit for breakfast, sub for lunch and my beloved cantaloupe for supper and a Rice Krispie treat for snack….not too bad (not too good either).

Hope all of you are making significant progress on your diet journey.

God bless,

Judy

Getting Better…weight still falling!!!

I have been so excited to see the scales falling while I have been pretty much confined to bed. I know this is not going to continue but I am happy for now. The scale was 194 this morning!!! Now maybe I can make last month’s goal of 193 this month. I am trying to get in the 180’s screaming and clawing!!!

Jade and DJ are supposed to come today. I hope I can be up and around when they get here!

Will check back in as time permits….

God bless!!

Judy

Help!!! I’m Falling Apart!!!!!!!!

If I wasn’t in so much pain, this would be laughable!!! I have a pain patch on my right knee (gout), a brace on my left hand (carpal tunnel and I am left-hand dominant) and can’t walk on my left heel (gout…again)…hubby baffled cause he is 18 years older and he’s taking care of me!!! I feel 91 instead of 51!!!! I guess the Lord knew I needed something to smile at this morning so here it is…I MADE MY 195 GOAL THIS MORNING (13 DAYS EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!) THANK YOU LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please excuse any spelling or typing errors…I am pecking with one finger on my right hand!!!

Sarah will be here in a couple hours to help me…Bless her heart!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays on plan.

If you’re the praying kind…Please say one for me….I NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God bless!!!

Judy

No Changes to Report

My scale read the same this morning 198.8 for which I was glad considering I couldn’t walk yesterday.

Yesterday in addition to gout in my left foot it crept into my right knee.

I have pretty much been confined to bed today…trying to rest my foot and knee. I hope and pray I will not gain weight today due to inactivity… but it just can’t be helped!! Can’t walk tonight either so I am not looking forward to tomorrow’s weigh-in.

Hope everyone is on plan and making progress on their diets.

Will update when possible

God bless,

Judy
