So many wonderful friends have written to ask about how our sweet Zachary is doing, that I figured I had better do an update.

He spent a bit over a week in Oahu at the most wonderful of vet hospitals. They took the best of care of him, and of DH :) He was able to recover without surgery! The vet calls him the miracle dog, but we call him the miracle vet. They all are actually, the whole team. They are so caring and so compassionate and really are there doing what they are meant to be doing.

Zachary just finished his last steriods, and no longer has to be in a cage, but we still need to watch his activity level. He is not allowed to jump anymore. Not on furniture, us or even in and out of the car. He has IVDD, which is a degenerative disc disease. It may never occur again, but it also may. At least we will know what it is and get him to Dr. Leadbeater in Oahu immediately. If it does, it will require surgery.

He is like a really good post stroke recovery patient now. His balance is a tiny bit off especially if he turns too fast or when he stands up. He sits a bit funny, the legs kinda splay, and his right leg is a bit weak. He has control over his bladder now so we don’t have to cath him anymore which is good. He can run and is now starting to play again. We just have to limit the amount. His personality is a bit changed thou. He is not as rambunctious as he was, is more dependent on me and more clingy to me than he was. He will not let me out of his sight, and becomes quite distressed when I go out. If I go to work, and say goodbye and tell him I am going to work, he is okay but if I am off work and go any where he become very upset and will not settle down. My DH stays with him but he still will not settle until I come home again. But he has always been a momma’s boy :)

So thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. And for all the follow up letters and questions. Our little fur babies are so special and so dear, and I thank all of you who cared enough to continue to be concerned.

So Zachary and I say a big thanks to all of you
