how to lose weight by doing nothing
November 26th, 2008
do exactly what is says: nothing. don’t work, don’t exercise, don’t eat, don’t drink, don’t shower…
yep. i’ve had a bad case of cramps since sunday. i’ve been doing absolutely nothing but sitting on the couch, writhing in pain, popping pills, and watching way too much reality tv.
i just weighed in, and it looks good. real good. i’m only 3 pounds from my nov goal! WOOT!
i started feeling better last night. hubby fixed me 1/2 livermush sandwich; it went down, and stayed down. i haven’t attempted food yet today. thank goodness i’m better by thanksgiving…
HAPPY TURKEY DAY, everyone!
this little piggy had roast beef
November 20th, 2008
if by roast beef, you mean donut, then yes.
so i’m sitting here at a desk in an empty office at my client’s building. i’m minding my own business, working away, nose deep in a report i’m creating for the HR lady. i’m interrupted for a moment when one of the payroll ladies peaks her head around the corner of the door to announce, “Donuts are here.” “Thanks,” i say, remembering the two slices of toast with real butter i had for breakfast at the hotel, and i turn my head back to my laptop to continue with my report. she stands in the doorway for a moment, staring at the crown of my head. “They’re hot,” she baits. and as if i’m a puppet on a string, i rise from my chair, and am hovering over the donut table down the hall. within seconds, the napkin in my hand is empty, and my belly is warm with donut.
YES, YES, YES, i had a donut. sheesh. stop harpin’.
puffy?

your 4:30pm wake-up call
November 18th, 2008
You’ve missed the train—
The birds care nothing about it.
In the brush, in the eaves of rock
Yellow moths wink like paper.
You’ve missed the train,
A perfect miss; it snaked by slowly
As you stumbled down the steps from the subway overpass.
Starlings rattle in the brush.
A dayliner passes, puffing clouds in silence.
Maybe you should have married
That rock guitarist from Jersey.
There was a pleasant stillness then—
A home, yellow flutterings—
Which you cannot help considering, bound,
For another hour, to this stubborn plain
While the afternoon sun makes water of the air
And concrete, and in this heat
Edges blur between outcroppings:
Sooted cliffs, car mufflers, non-refundables.
You’re getting older;
You’re less able to contain your questions.
Is there any marble in this hill at all?

the armpit of america
November 17th, 2008
i traveled six hours yesterday to the armpit of america. i will be on-site with a client through wednesday. i miss my hubby and my animals! :(
but i’ve still got my sisterchicks right at my keyboard, and that makes me happy! so sorry to tiny2b. i’m so disappointed about missing the movie discussion night. i had it all planned out to get to my hotel last night in time to tune in, but there was major traffic through raleigh, and i didn’t get in until after 11p.
today on-site sucked. everything that could go wrong did. poo. but i did visit the local Y (courtesy a free hotel pass), and i ran my little heart out. then i ate a 3 musketeers. oh well, what can you do? now… let me refill my wine glass.
happy blogging, chickies. -kt

this chicken taco salad is DA BOMB DOT COM.
UH-OH… return of the chicken taco salad!
November 12th, 2008
i was absolutely addicted to this recipe back in the summer. i think i made it twice a week for the entire month of july. i was digging through some recipes, stumbled upon this one, made a quick trip to the store, cracked open a bottle of cheap wine, and long story short, it’ll be ready in three hours.
1 onion, chopped (50)
1 can black beans (315)
1 can kidney beans (365)
1 can mexi-corn (315)
1 can tomato sauce (140)
1 can diced tomatoes with chilis (90)
1 packet taco seasoning (90)
4 small boneless, skinless chicken breasts (400)
Mix everything together in a slow cooker except chicken. Lay chicken on top and cover. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. 30 minutes before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in.
This is good eaten with rice (good girl.) OR cheese, sour cream, or tortilla chips (BAD, BAD girl!). The salad alone (w/out rice or chips) makes about 8 servings, for approx 225 calories per serving.
2 days down, 88 to go
November 12th, 2008
why does it seem like the days just c-r–a—w—-l when you’re hungry? yesterday was another good day. i managed 1600 calories. boy, was i hungry after my step class. i was watching biggest loser, and they kept talking about pudding and subs, and i wanted to ring someone’s neck! anyone glad to see brady gone? again, he was playing the numbers by only losing 7 pounds. he wanted another big week next week, while vicky was going to take smaller numbers next week. but that came back to bite him in the ass. lol. sucker. good for amy c. for breaking up that blue team!
i was so hungry this morning when i woke up, i ate a hotdog at 9am. it ended up being the same calories as my usual two cups of coffee and granola bar, so i’ll take it. i’m working from home today, but i’m going to drive to the office later so that i can complete my w25k routine. hopefully i will get some housework done. i have a girlfriend staying over on friday night, and i need to clean!
here’s to an OP day. i’ll leave you with this KICKASS tattoo of hall & oates. happy blogging, chickies.
