Tonight was one of the seminars that go along with my 5k training thing that I am doing. This evening it was all about food/nutrition. The speaker is into the whole ph balance of foods and eating more alkaline foods and all that. A lot of it was interesting, but I am finding that it is quickly fading from my memory. Probably the one thing I will not forget is the part about oreos and things that are added to make them addictive and how Kraft is very interested in brain science, the same type of stuff that the cigarette companies are interested in. I know that the whole “big macs are addictive” type of thing is controversial and there are other reasons why so many people in our country get hooked on various foods. But if there is even the slightest chance that they are paying scientists to figure out how to get us all hooked on this stuff…ARRGG!
Dinner today…ate too much. I have no idea how many calories, but I felt stuffed. So today did not end up being a good eating day. For grabthebull, this is injera. It is a flat bread with a sour dough like taste. We first started cooking Ethiopian food when we adopted our son from there, so now it is tradition that every time hubby is in DC he gets us some injera (since it is nearly impossible to make) and then I cook the rest of the meal.
Periwinkle, now you have me even more creeped out! The man was in a car, so he didn’t show up from behind a tree or anything super creepy like that. He is just not one of the regular trackies and I don’t have any idea what he could have been doing up there since he wasn’t using the track or the courts or anything like that. Maybe he was fixing the bathrooms, but yet he wasn’t one of the normal maintenance dudes in the normal maintenance trucks. I don’t know. But I definitely feel differently about being up there by myself now. It is pretty isolated. Fortunately, if I go a bit earlier all of the regular trackies will be there.
