It’s all good…

Posted by: getupnow In: General

So now I want to party!!! She is in great spirits and so am I. No, things aren’t perfect. She has evidence of several mini-strokes but basically there is nothing that really needs done or anything that could even be done. This doctor actually leans towards not fixing the carotid arteries too. So basically as long as she is feeling ok, we just go about our life as usual. She has an appointment with the vascular surgeon Tuesday. Not sure if we are going to keep that appointment or not at this point due to this doctor’s advice. We all trust his opinion very much.

Now that things are looking ok, I think mom is ready to get on board (pun completely pathetically intended) with the cruise idea. I have been wanting my sister, my mom and I to go on a short cruise to the Caribbean. Maybe in January. We had thought it just wasn’t going to be a good time, maybe not enough time for her to cope with dad’s death but it is looking like she is ready. And at 76 years old, it definitely does not need to be put off if she wants to go. She said she may as well go while she is healthy. She has never been out of the country, on a cruise OR on a plane. Neither has my sister. So it would be soooo exciting!!

Have a great weekend, peeps!

Yay! I’m so happy for you that the news was so good! And I think the cruise idea is a great one! Years ago before my dad passed away I treated my parents to a cruise to the Bahamas (with me) and I sooooo treasure those memories now!
.
Have a great weekend too!

What great news about your mom! I think the cruise is a fabulous idea - a perfect reward for you and something for mom to look forward to. Alhtough trapped on a boat with my sister, hmmm…..(just kidding :-) Have a great weekend!

So glad to hear about your mom.

You have totally planted a seed here. A chicks cruise? Ladies? Anyone?

I’m so happy to hear this! I can’t imagine the worry you must’ve been feeling.

I did a cruise in my 20s & it was fabulous, although picture a floating all-night, all-you-can-eat-buffet. Of course, this is a celebration & a vacation all in one, so what’s a little buffet between mother and daughters? & I was in my 20s, so eating & drinking & gambling was pretty much all I wanted to do anyway…I imagine you’d be doing more site seeing on the islands.

I like tiny’s idea of all of us cruising…I never seem to have money for vacations, but this might be worth saving up for. I wonder if there are healthy cruises where you disembark in better shape than you were in when you boarded? That might be fun!

I am so happy to hear good news about your mom! I’m sure that you must feel 100% better as well. What a burden off your shoulders.

Cruise’s are fun!! I went on one for my senior trip (horrible) but I went with hubby a few years ago on a Disney cruise and it was AWESOME!!

Hi again!

Yeah, the pumpkin seeds are my new weakness, so I measured out 1/8 cup this morning & am allowing myself no more than than for the day. I’m now thinking some for soup & some for snack later. I wish I could find some with the shell on that weren’t also salted beyond all measure. I think at least the shell would slow me down. But the only no salt variety I can find are shelled.

I think I got the pumpkin soup recipe from the weight watchers site. Just onions & garlic, canned pumpkin, and low fat chicken broth with some nutmeg & cinnamon. It’s not a taste that will knock you out, but yummy. Your pumpkin yogurt reminded me of how much I love this soup in the fall…I used to top it with buttery croutons, so the pumpkin seeds provide the crunch & some nutrition, although the calories aren’t that much better.
